  1. I just replaced the brake booster on my 240z and now I have like zero pedal feedback. There is very little resistance at the pedal. The car stops, but I don't actually feel the car slowing until I have almost pushed the pedal all the way down. Then it starts slowing fast, but still no pedal feedback. I can't do a gradual Slow anymore. I was driving the car for a two weeks with the broken booster and it was hard to stop but I could feel the force of the pedal pushing back as I was slowing down. Also if i push the pedal all the way, I can't engage the brakes to there max. Like I can't lock the wheels if I wanted. Only change was the brake booster.
  2. Is there a way you can tell what clutch I have from the pics I put there. Because the contact pad on the clutch is bigger then the one I purchased. Also it has 9 bolts and the one I got had 6 mounting holes. Also i'll check the drive shaft play in the morning. Is it possible that the clutch I kept is to thick and is keeping the throwout bearing in contact with the clutch plate. Could that cause the noise. Also on deceleration I noticed that when I keep the car in gear(especially the early gears) I get a scrubbing/rubbing sound. Not really grinding more scrubbing.
  3. if the car didnt used to make the sound till after the swap and i reused the trans mount. wouldnt that make it ok? also were is the outputshaft bushing. is it somthing i can look at without opening the transmission
  4. Hey haven't posted in a while but i read often. I did a 280yz project 3years ago and its great. Now to the point. I just removed my 4 speed transmission that was bolted to an N42 block L28 and put in a 5 speed from a pick'n'pull, 1980 280xz I believe, now I used the clutch that was already on the car because it was still good and had a bigger contact surface then the one I purchased new.(plus the clutch wasn't complete and the new bearings weren't in the clutch kit) So now as I accelerate with the new transmission, I get a vibrating ringing sound and can't pin it down.only on acceleration,if i start slowing it goes away. OK so I used the 240 transmission-mount, drive shaft, the hydrolic clutch piston thing that's attached to the transmission(11/16), the black clutch fork that its connected to, throw-out bearing. Basically all the clutch parts transferred them to the 5 speed. left the 5 speed shifter. Also I forgot to get the speedometer plastic gear and I had to use the 4 speed one(yellow for sure 17 pins i think)The speedometer doesn't work now but the tachometer does. Also down shifting or getting back into gear from neutral while at speed is not so smooth. these are the problems. now for the question. what is this transmission. I thought all 4 speed transmissions were 2 piece with the bell housing permanently attached. when removed it it was clearly a 3 piece transmission. also the shifter looks unique to me. also this is the clutch i kept in with the 5 speed junkyard transmission. Pretty much any info would be nice on the transmission but figuring out the ringing sound is more important. i found some info on the transmission after going here http://zhome.com/ZCMnL/tech/AandBtranny.htm
  5. what lug nuts r u using with the ARP 100-7708 long wheel studs
  6. no problem I got them at what i think is a deal but they are 295/50/R15 and the brand is Legend GT and tire is called Eldorado, there not race tires but for daily driving all weather hope that answeres ?
  7. on the ZX the front end is from kit called drift. the back skirt dont know bit saw it on the back of a supra last generation, the side skirts where actually from 2 different kits, cut in half and made to fit. we didnt do the work. He got the car that way. I think u can find all the parts u need in the Dec 2005 issue if import tuner magazine and the drive train for now will remain a stock L28 untill i get the guts to put in a RB25 or mabey AWD RB26. If i do put the 26 i will try to keep the AWD. The primer is PCL polyprimer high preformance hi-build Black Polyester primer. Im prity sure its PCL but the Primer ran down the lable and i can only c the PC. It needs no thining and filled up all my scratches and minor dents. I think afterwards i have to use an epoxy primer to seal it all up.
  8. more primer pics and wheels 15X10s with 3.5in backspace

  11. ok thanks ill give it another coat this weekend
  12. the shadow lights might work but i would need to know how tall the headlight is. i went to the local junkyard and dont remember that car. I measured all the headlights that were promising but the only thing that might of worked were the lights of a 92 geo storm. They are close to the ones that are on the camaro and had that metal frame that heald them in. i think piaa has lights simmular to those but come with there own mounting brackets. thanks any way if anyone can get the height of the headlights on the dodge shadow or cutlass let me know.
  13. got another problem, probly small but, primered my car using a polyprimer thats a high build formula. after i painted it i could see the shadow of the bondo under it. will this get fixed with another coat. another thing can i put an epoxy primer on top of it to seal it perminantly or its not compatible. i plan to leave the car flat black. thanks, guys
  14. the lights that olderthanme put are nice but are expencive and i would need the dimentions of the s13 lights. i think i saw the camaro lights but they have no real mounting system by themselves. their sort of clamped in the headlight assembly by a metal frame i think thanks for the suggestions there helping, keep them coming if any one knows of a sight that has specs of lights please let me know ecause i have yet to find 1
  15. thanks that might work. keep the lights commin thanks bart
  16. I need lights to fit inbetween the hood and air dam. they need to make the car street legal. i thought about the Piaa P-3000 or maybe use a headlight from another car.somthing rectangular. look the pic of car and will see what mean thanks guys, godspeed
  17. Wow thanks alot!! I won't do it to my car. I posted this morninng and the advice came right in handy. this weekend was when I was going to do it. I'll start looking for other primers. this sight is fast. thanks for all the help! look for upcoming Pics if my car.
  18. I've been working on my car for 5 months now and getting really close to paint. Not a pro on body work so what I want to do is use an exterior latex paint for houses on my car to fill in any minor sctatches or other imperfections. basicly I want to use it like a filler primer. Is there any reason why I should not use it? After it's wet sanded id like to use automotive primer. The exterior latex primer is oil based, so could this cause any problems? To apply it I'd like to use a foam roller. I did use it on my other car (not Z) but haven't painted over it and dont intend to. it stayed on and is sandable.
  19. i have the YZ kit on my car now and have 15X10 all around with a 3.5 inch back space on each and the stock suspension. i just had to trim the front fenders a little to turn. the tires are 295/50 15s
