  1. thanks guys, but I did an all-round visual inspection. I had been drivin it hard and hit some rough roads and some wires had jiggled loose. Thank god that was the only thing. But my dad just screwed up my ignition switch this morning. Gotta wait 2 more days to drive it again!
  2. My ignition switch inside the car is messed up. Someone didn't put the key in it al the way and tried to start it so it's some issue with the pins. Now they tell me they have a 6 tumbler and a 7 tumbler cylinder and I'm not sure how to decipher which one I have. Do I just count on the key? and If i jut have to get the cylinder not the whole assembly, how do I get the cylinder out?
  3. This just happened randomly but today I jumped my car and turned the key and it didn't start. its making a noise near the fuse box on the passenger side. I'm not sure if the its the started or the solenoid or what. Need some help here.
  4. My brother and I were talking about putting a 350 into my Z, and he was unsure of the Datsun rear end being able to handle so much horsepower and torque. I'm pretty sure people do this often because they can handle up to a certain horsepower. But I think he needs to hear it from someone who has actually done it.
  5. I live in Tucker, GA, its about 20 minutes outside of atlanta. And I've been all over this town to junkyards and looked online and can't seem to get a hold of any complete engines, plenty of trannys, but no engines. Anybody have any ideas? I'm really wanting to put it into my 260Z, and I would like to start as soon as possible. Thanks.
  6. Thanks Guys, I'll have to talk to some more people and my mechanic about the gas mileage, but I would be perfectly satisfied with mid twenties on the highway. But about the rough ride and loudness, I just have a bigger 280 block with stock 260 head and cam. I'm about to get the MSA twice pipes exhaust put on so it shouldn't be that loud. Plus a pretty good stereo to drown it out. The 5 spd should help a little with the mpg too. Haha, I will be sure to call you if I have any problems, I might just call you to stop by and check out the parts car. I need a few little things. Thanks guys.
  7. I was wondering whats the best gas mileage you guys have gotten with dual early S.U.'s. And help me a little with fiddling with them. Also I have one last question, would any of you feel confident drivin 1100 miles to MA in a 74 260?
  8. I was reading on 350 swaps for Z's in a book the other day when I came across another swap, a 350 diesel swap in an El Camino. Any body know the similarities of a the gas 350 to a diesel 350. I wil probably do some research myself but any comments will help. Thanks.

  11. I have been looking at some air dams on motorsport auto, and I was wondering if you needed the shock absorbers from the stock bumpers to mount them. Thanks.
  12. I am painting my 260 in my garage and I'm wondering if my process is going ok. So I'm putting it up here to get it "approved" by some more experienced painters. Mainly it's my sanding process. I start by sanding down the original paint with 320 grit, down to a smooth dull finish. Then do 2 or 3 coats of primer, and sand with 400 or 600 grit to smooth out the lines from the 320. Now I start putting the basecoat on. Any pointers, or helpful tips?
  13. I know this is the V8 chevy swap forum, but I'm here to find out if anyone has ever put a diesel motor in a Z, Maybe a twin a turbo one. Anybody thats got any info please let me know.
  14. I've been looking for some black wheels at least 16 inchers with maybe a chrome lip. I've been looking around and haven't had much luck. I hope you guys can help me out a little bit. Maybe some pics of cars with the wheels on them would be nice. Thanks.
  15. Thanks guys that helps. I thought maybe that could have helped me out of a speeding ticket ha ha. But I guess I will have to use something else. But my speedometer is working nonetheless.
  16. I have a 5 speed tranny in my '74 260, and the speedometer isn't hooked up. My friend was telling me it would give me inaccurate readings even if it was hooked up because of the different gear ratios from the 4 spd to 5 spd. Does anyone know of an adapter that would fix that problem? Or any other kind of trick someone knows about?
  17. I know theres a way, but even if I can't do it I'm not going to wrry about it that much. It's not that big a deal. I think they look good either way.
  18. I've thought about that. But I don't have access to a welder. Or if I did I would have to learn how to weld. I figured I would see if I could do it now while I'm painting the car to get all that stuff out of the way.
  19. Does anyone know how to adjust the bumpers? I like the crash bumpers but I would like for them to be flush against the body like I've seen on some others.
  20. Yeah I got stock S.U.'s and a guy suggested that one to me. I'm going to get some new springs to go with it. 130 bucks is cheap insurance than runnin the risk with the stock springs and damaging a piston. But do you think new rockers are totally neccessary?

  24. My 260 has a 280 block, 260 heads and 240 S.U. Carbs. Could I put a 280 cam in it as long as i upgraded the valve springs and rocker arms? What other modifications could I do that I could just pull from other Z's?
  25. Yeah I got up this morning and took a wire brush to my plugs, they looked horrible. Started it up and it ran great. I have to say seafoam did make it run smoother, especially in the higher RPM range.
