  1. Im Performing The R200 Swap On 73 240z And The Donor Car Was A 280z Im Not Sure Of Model Year But The Front Diff Mount On The Underneath Has A Maybe 3/4 Inch Tall Stack Of Metal Plate With A Two Inch Tall Stack Of Plates On One End This Plate Bolts Directly Below Front Diff Mount Just Curious What The Purpose Is For This Plate Thanks...............................

  2. Hey Just Wanted To Pass On Some Info Ive Dug Up Im Wanting To Do The Same Conversion.these Are Facts I Know.1st The Compressed Length On 280zxt Shafts Appears To Be Right At 15 Inches On Both Left And Right Shaft This Is Based Upon Two I Pulled Off Of A 280zxt With 97,000 Miles I Feal Like They Are Original Due To Mileage On Car.i Pulled Up A Spec Sheet From One Of 78 Z1t1 Post And It Reads Measuring From Same Points On Shaft 16.12 Left Inches To 16.59 Right Inches For A Z31 300zxt Vg30et And 16.02 Left To 16.46 Right For Non Turbo Z31 Shaft Which Are The Same Spline Wise To 280zxt Shafts.so With This Data You Could Conclude That The 280zxt Shafts Are Roughly 1 Inch Shorter Than Z31 300zx Non Turbo As Well As Turbo Shafts Left And 1 1/2 Shorter On The Right.also When You Look At My 280zxt Shafts One Appeares To Be Maybe An Inch Longer But Compressed Its The Same As Other Side 15 Inches.i Hope This Data Helps You It Seems To Me That If Mm Companion Flanges Are Not At Least 2 Inches Shorter Than Standard 280zxt Companion Flanges I Dont Know How They Could Be Considerd To Be Less Prone To Binding..... Thats All I Know Keep Me Updated On Anything You Find Out Good Luck Phil

  3. Just Curious On A 280zxt Cv Shaft Upgrade Is The Metal Dust Shield From A 240z Companion Flange Really Important To Be Placed On The 280zxt Companion Flange.im Using The R200 Pinion Seals And They Appear To Have A Rubber Lip That Will Snuggly Fit Up Into The 280zxt Metal Lip To Provide Somewhat Of A Good Dust Shield.i Could See Where The 240z Metal Shield Completely Covers Over Hub Which Is Probably Better But If Its Not Really Necessary I Would Like To Cut This Step Out Thanks Phil.....

  4. My Strut Cartridges Were Rusted In Their Housings Heres A Trick I Would Like To Share . 1 Put Housing In Vise 2 Extend Strut Shaft And Cut It Off Flush With End Of Strut 3 Weld A Large Nut In Center Of Strut To Shaft And Cartridge 4 Put Impact On Nut To Loosen Strut In Housing.. This Worked For Me Be Sure Not To Damage Your Strut Housing In The Process.. Also My Struts Were Completly Dead And Probably Had No Charge In Them I Dont Know How Safe It Is To Weld On A Cartridge That Has A Charge Left In It This Procedure May Not Be For You It Did Work For Me Though...............

  7. Just got started on the priming of my 240z i took alot of areas down to bare metal and cleaned using wax grease remover scuffed them up with sandpaper painted with spray can etching primer. Now for the possible problem the temps here in ky have dropped this week and my garage was 55 degrees when I applied evercoat dura build primer with gun i did maintain that 55 degrees for 24 hours and now have bumped up the temp to 65 after talking to a guy at car quest paint store he said their ppg paints i believe was the brand quite drying at 55 degrees do you guys think there will be problems down the road if i just keep my garage at 65 and if so how long should i leave it that way. Also the dura build web site mentions a 1 hour dry time at 74 degrees but theres no mention of minimum paint temps. ANY KNOWLEDGE UPON MY SITUATION WOULD GREATLY BE APPRECIATED THANKS!!!!!!!! PHIL
