  1. Go here, http://www.showcars-bodyparts.com/240z.html

they have lots of names and different air dams.

There is also a company in nz called aerotech that does a similar Airdam. The local racer use there one and it looks alright. They were asking $300 nzd for it. Around $240 aud + shiping. They have e-mail, but are not very good at answering it. They do however answer the phone. Let me know if I can be any help.

  2. Does anyone have a link to see the green conv. z. I checked out the current photos at msa and didnt see anything. This sounds like something I need to see given my current rusty roof situation.

  3. I made up some lower wisbones that moved the lower point where the strut joins the wisbone forward. This obvoisly increases the caster, but that may not be a bad thing on the z. This was on my old corolla. It extended the wheel base around 3 inches. Do something similar and a little massage on the fire wall and it may save you a bit of work.

  4. I have ordered the video from john at VReng. Hopefully it will get here before x-mas. I will have to get the damn thing converted to work on our tv here. I think we have more dot per inch on our scren or something like that. Pain in the arse.

Showcars e-mailed back as well. They want around $5000 usd + an extra $800 for the two plus two. Shame really as a lot of there other stuff seemed good value.

I will givee him some mail. What has happened to madmanadams web sit. It seems to have been replaced with s-10 help. icon_sad.gif

I know that some of you have gone the topless route. It looks to me that you use a lot of the metal from the hatch and reat of the cat to put it together. What kind of stuctural mods. need to be done to maintain chassis strength? I am not to woried about the top as its a fair weather car at the best of times. All help would be appreciated.

  6. Thanks martin,

I have e-mailed john. He has a video he will send me. If you use the stock hinges on the hatch for the trunk, will it open far enough to be usefull? The stock hinge is designed to move around 30 degrees I think. I have seen others with a hinge arangement designed to move around 85-90 degrees.

  7. Howdy all,

I had a bit of a play with the old monster yesterday and found truck loads of bog in the roof and some rat shit repairs. I am thinking about going the convertable route. I see that z therapy has a vid. but to see it in nz i would have to have it convereted.........Exchange rate.....Expensive!

Can any of you point me in the right direction to find out more inf. on how to go about it. Links and photos would be great.

My z is a 2+2, but i belive that could work in my favour.

Thanks for yor help. Y'alls Great. icon_biggrin.gif goodness i am getting a accent. icon_wink.gif

  8. Things i did to my 280zx that was chhep but made a difference.

    1. Loose factory air cleaner. Had a cone filter atached to the fuel injection hose that ran trough the radiator support.

    2. 2.5 inch exhuast on the factory manifold.

    3. Slightly larger trotle body. Cant rememeber where this came from. Oh ex race Item i got cheep.

    4. Plug erg hose with a ball bearing.

I love my car and it was a heavy 2+2.

Something I was going to do before i t/bone some stupid cow in it was wack on a turbo from the 2 lt l20 turbo 6. Seeing that you are in Aussie you might be able to find one of these at a jap import yard. They came of the early eighty lurals and skylines. I was'nt going to play with the boost. Just run standard compresion ratio an intercooler and around the factory 6-8 psi. i was trying to do this with no money as usual and hadnt thought about the fueling to much. You cam tweek the fuel pressure or mabye run an aditional injector that is controled buy a pressure switch.

    Cheers

  9. My wife seems to want one of these for some reason. She saw a new ford with the suiside rear door and thought that would be just the thing for carting the children. icon_rolleyes.gif

When I wanted to learn how to weld a few years ago, i spent my days off at a shop that converted trucks from left to right hand drive. The were mostly G.M. and diesel. He was on of the few people who had the equipment to download fualts and a lot of these trucks came back. He has a great love of us cars and trucks but wont buy G.M. diesel. The fords are the only ones that come her already converted. There lies the easy answer.

  10. From what i understand the centrafugal ones also have a two stage drive. In the housing is gears to speed up the turbine. Mabye you could coopy this with a two belt multi pully design. I have always wondered if you could do this hydrolicly with a variable dispacement pump that would be designed to give peak boost at low rpms to cut back lag and then decrease its displacement as the revs climbed to maintain the boost at the chossen pressure. I have mentioned this to a few people and they usually think im nuts but a lot of air plane controls are hydrolic so i still think it can be done.

The td05 is of a mitsi. isnt it? If you really want to have a go at it i would try to swap it for a much larger turbo. Mabye someting of a big truck so you dont have to spin it so high.

    Good luck,

  11. howdy,

I would say vizard is on track. I have seen this temperature used in other books as well that are compleatly independant. Dont forget that on pure race engines they are also looking for aerodynamic advantages as well. So with a higher temp. they can run a smaller radiator or inlet and get higher top speed. Formula 1 engine run higher temps again but, everything is designed to work at that temp. Your chevy isnt.

  12. Elementary my dear Wat..um, i mean, Terry. I dont think I will go as far as fender vents, But i am looking at doing some bonnet ones. Some thing a little more subtle then yours. Ie. Easier to make.

Mabye just cut a whole and but a mesh in it painted body color. Still planing. It depends on what radiator i find to fit. Not many Camoros down here.

    Cheers

  13. If i were my decision to make it would be the 2jz. This may be a little harder to get in aussie or japan for that matter but, you would get an extra 500cc and mabye a 6 speed box behind it. The nissan and older toyota pail in comparison unless you can get them supper cheap. Oh yeah, IMHO. icon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gif
