Here is another place to peruse,
I was pretty inpressed buy what he was saying and have the info kit that he sells. This guy says that equal lenght long headers are the way to go and has quite a bit of info to back it up. He has sent me a tape on header design. i will listen to it today and see if there is anything new.

Getting tence here fellas.
There are so many variables when setting up a car that you can not really be campairing apples with apples here. You tune your car to work and handle they way YOU want it to. We all drive differently so the car must be set up to reflect that. There is no right and wrong in that regarde. I think of the Senna Vs prost days. Same Mclaren. Completly deferent set up and driving styles. Fastest laps and poles buy both. Think about how you like to drive and then work backwards.
Oh and just to be a real pain in the but; the technical side of me says "Yeah 50/50 balance and drive it on the rails", but the fun side says" hang it out" and then the just about to lose ones licence side says " it a public road and if you are going fast enough to tell the difference you are going to burn sooner then later."
Will I ever learn?

just make sure that the springs don become loose in there mounts if you keep cutting them. When i have done this in the past i would jack the car up and measure the spring fully extended while it was mounted. take the spring out and NEVER cut it shorter than that fully extended length. You also want to cut it a fast as you can so the spring doesnt heat up to much during the process. I used to wrap the spring in wet cloth up to the cut of point.

Sorry to do this on the z site but my e-mail keeps bouncing back.
I am looking for adapters to put 4 stud wheels on mk4/5 rx7 struts. The wheels are for a te35 corolla. same as the z i think.
Can you get back to me if it can be done.
Cheers

1gg came from the domestic only supra and cressida or variations on those. Is not a bad donk. Built very similar to the 4age and they did a supercharged version as well. This would be your bang for buck solution. The 7m is a lot older and heavyer. Do a search on it. there are heaps of you aussie fellas using them.

I cant be to much help to you but arnt most the 60 degree domestic v6s the small ones. The ford explorer v6 might be 60 but the gm ones are 90 degree. The dodge ones would be nice but are front wheel drive. This would leave the jap ones. i have pondered these for other projects. I would get one from a truck. Toyota, Nissan, Mitsubishi and isuzu all make 3 + liter quad cam v6s. thats where i would head if gm or buick wasnt what you wanted.

I went to a florist. I have a lot to do. Whole over bumper air dams on the z and the corolla and i need to do flares on the corrola. I will check the wholesaler on monday. Everything stops at 4pm on fridays here. I was thinking of getting some expandable foam and making a box around the area i want to do and in fill it in. i dont know if it will stick though. Might try that this weekend. Looks like its going to rain anyway. thanks for the help. Any other ideas?

Howdy all,
I went to find some florist foam to start some bucks for new airdams on my z and the old corrola and was shocked by the price of the stuff. They florists pay $3.50 for something the size of your shoe.
What else can i use? The florist foam idea looked like the easiest to sand in to shape. Do you think spraying expandable foam on to the car and then sanding back will work?
I would really rather not have to spray putty them and the extra work involved, nor for that mater do I have spray putty gun.
Thanks Douglas.

Here is a good place to start:
www.geocities.com/motorcity/pit/9975/tm_index.html
Also check the toyota mods web ring
nav.webring.yahoo.com/hub?ring=toymods&list
Dont forget that the later engine is lighter.

Higher piston speed. lower max rpm. More machining (i think). I wouldnt bother if its already turboed. Some of the lads are getting wicked hp with stock crank.

Havent looked at this one for a while but theres a sight called 3rotor.com. Guy put a 3 rotot in a early maxda capella. It had sound of the engine and everything. 3 rotors shouldnt be that hard to get hold of. the big hassel seems to be the electonic engine controls. Check out racing beat as well. I think they used the 3 rotot in there land speed record cars.

for me it would be kind of like a jap ferrari. Toyota 5lt v12 (Comes from some barge called a century in there domestic markt) moded to put out around 600 hp. no turbo. love the sound of a nat. v12. Really big feet and brakes 275 in front 335 or sim out back. no chrome, no bumbers, flares made to give it hips so the are not so obvious. 6 speed box probable out of a supra...............

you could run a tube from the base of the front of the cage to the base of the rear of the cage at floor level. this would run parallel with the door sills and you would need to tie them in with tabs allong the way. I am not sure how this would work with the seats though. There might not be room. I have seen it on race cars though.
BTW. WHERE IS THE SPELL CHECK

I wonder if you can get some vise grips or something similar and put a bit of a sqeeze on the rubber part of the fuel line to give it a bit of restriction. worth a try mabye?

I will take a punt here and say that anything that you can do to lower the intake temp. is a good thing. Do a search on the 280 zx that paul newman raced, there was an artical on it in road and track about 20 years ago. they separated all the intake, cooling, and exhuast. basically(?) you shpould do every thing you can to make the intake cool. I wonder if that is why cross flow head work better sometimes.

Thanks,
I havent even turned the bugger over and probable wont intill after the new year. Its in my shed waiting for my house to be built and under all my worldly posessions. I dont even know what heads i actually have yet. I looked at what it would cost to import a jtr kit and bought a whole car with a locally certified 350 chevy in it for very little more. Vizzard is unfortunately buried somwhere under the worldly goods. I dont know if you have to go through a certification process with the local transport authorities in the USA but in aussie and here its a big and expensive process. It makes buying a car that has already been through it far better value. I guess i thought that you could get a stock chevy head and put big valves and a good port job on it and it and the puppy would put out 500 odd horse. When i read vizzard i was looking for 4 cylinder power and he didnt have much to offer there. In saying that, i have ordered a few more books, but you will have to but up with me untill they arive.
I would love inputt on what heads do the stuff. i would really like 480 to 500 hp.
Cheers,
Douglas

Howdy,
have any of you guys ported your own heads before? I know of the basics, deburing, smoothing the short side of the port and so forth but how do you get big power out of these things? I have a few vizard books and so forth that are helpfull but not specific. Is there any info on the www. I have done a lot of searching and not really come up with to much on the chevy. I guess I am looking for the secret recipe for power. Any Ideas?
Cheers

Hey dpg,
Thats a very nice z at turbo mag. i think that you would be better of starting with a z with the v8 already in it and then make it what you want it to be. Most of the difficult stuff will be done and if you then want it faster, lower, cooler, reder, whatever, you can do it from a sound starting point. This is what i have done. I have done engine conversions before and found that it is far easyer to let someone else blow there money on setting it up. You will never get it back unless you are very talented with a welder and body work and then also have the right equipment. i dont mean to rain on your parade but think about it. It costs heaps to pay someone else to do it.

You can get coil overs that are progressive.
they run two springs one is a hepler that goes coil bound after a certain amount of travel then the higher rate ones take over.
The race boys have a lot of success with these but it takes a lot of testing to get them right. I am not telling you anything that you dont allready know though, am I.

Howdy,
My 280zx 2+2 had 225/50/15s on the front on a 7 inch rim ans245/50/15s on the rear with a 7.5 inch rim. It was slightly lowered (about an inch) and never rubbed.
My 260z 2+2 has 225/50/16s all round and is about 2 inches lower than standeard and doesnt rubb. I think 245 is about as wide as you can go on the rear without going to coil overs. This has been covered before here so do a little search.

Is this "tool time"? Have i come to the wrong plaace? Acouple pf things have come up hteta i can ad my bit too;
1. welding up sidedown under a car, well, It sucks!
2. notching roll cage tubes suck as well, without the right gear. I dont how anyone managed without tube notchers and air tools. I wouldnt even cosider it otherwise.
3. If you are going to go through the cage plate , why not make another one for the bottom of the tube to mount to as well?
