We just did that to our '72 240 in the shop.  Our first foray into cutting an entire roof off a donor, drilling all the spotwelds, melting the lead at each pillar, cutting the welds at the corners and separating the roof skin.  Not for the faint-of-heart, but definitely do-able.  The right tools help.  And, there are some great guides by guys who paved the path.  Bone up on everything required and which side to drill spot welds on which piece.  You can have a replacement roof that almost looks like the factory installed it.

     

    They're right that a "patch" is extremely difficult to get right.

     

    This is exactly the way I replaced my roof skin.

  2. Making rubber parts has slowed down the work on the car but I do have more rubber parts made and installed on the car.

     

    I am also offering custom 240z brake and fuel lines with custom  insulators for a 5/16" return fuel line, same size as main fuel line.

  3. All in the tiny details at this point in my build.

     

    I have replaced all 40+ rubber tabs that hold the wires to the body.

    I had to reweld a few tabs that broke off while moving the tabs. Welding after Paint so I had to be very careful while doing this.

    I could not stand looking at the yellow/worn out defrost wire boot, so I molded my own in clear and also a black version. I went with the clear version, just like the original.

     

    The one on the bottom is the original and above are my reproductions.
