LOL, I understand completely... i got all sorts of goofy when i forgot to put my respirator on after mixing up my primer in a tent... and then i sprayed a full thick coat of primer with no respirator.... heh, better than drinking, but the headache is just as bad.... Joe.

Tomahawk: i fail to see why your description of a halfshaft is directed at me. Thanks for the support though RPMS: yeah, i kinda figured it out too, (but i've been trying to get it to forgive me for a long long time.) Thanks, Joe

what are the dimensions of the Buick motor? (will it physically fit in a Z engine bay with little more effort than an SBC?) 700+ft/lbs sounds good. Joe.

Doh, i hate only being 1/4 right....(aka wrong). lol Joe.

i have more random pics of my car and such here: http://joezcar.freewebspace.com/photo.html i apologize for the pop-ups, but i needed free webspace.... later, Joe

I was just wondering if anyone had done that... In order for me to compress the halfshaft like that, the rear crossmember had to bend about 2-3" in total change (vertically, and horizontally) it also bent both of the vertical mounts that go to the rear crosmember, damaging all four of the bolts that held them, shearing one completely off......and some other major damage to the unibody and rear suspension. This happened quite a while ago. I repaired the rear suspension and drove the car for about 6 mos. with the bent unibody and other smaller problems caused by the accident. Then I decided to rebuild the entire car from the unibody up, 5 months later, and it runs/drives. But i still have a week or two before it will be my daily driver. That about sums it up, Joe. Note: Be careful out there, it's a real pain to rebuild your car.

...slide into a curb at 30 mph, sideways... http://joezcar.freewebspace.com/custom.html Thats a picture of my old halfshaft, taken by Eric Neyerlin of Zparts. I was wondering if anyone else has blown a halfshaft like that around here... thanks, Joe (i posted this in the drivetrain section, but i dont think it belongs there, it is more of a "Der looky what i can break" post than anything else.)

I havent put mine back in yet (i'm not driving the car) I think it is there to improve weight distribution and stabilize the diferential. Joe.

I am not sure that there was a supercharged RWD 3800 series engine. at least not from the factory. but i dont see why you couldnt put the SC from a fwd 3800 onto a RWD 3800. The only thing i think you would run into may be having to drop the compression ratio on the RWD engine for the SC. I like the 3800 SC because my pops has a Buick Riviera with one under the hood, the engine is powerful and feels smooth as glass when you get into the throttle. just my opinion though. I'll probably end up with a SBC in my Z, just because it is easier and less expensive. Once i get more money (ie. good job) then i may look into putting a higher dollar engine in. later, Joe

nope, R180 halfshaft. the "clean" metal on the left is the part that is bolted into the side of the rear end. it does kind look like a driveshaft, but i dont think driveshafts were filled with grease. and i am very sure this is a halfshaft, i was the one that broke it. , Joe

http://www.thirdgen.org/newdesign/tech/techdb.shtml So if the info i got from my friend is correct and the engine is a 1990 i can expect about 170HP...that cool i suppose, i guess the horsepower hangup would lie in the Throttle Body setup, right? thanks again, Joe

I'll have to look through the searches again... I wasnt planning on using a 500ci engine... just looking for more possible donors, though i may have found a deal on a little 305 which would be nice to use until i can get around the smog limit (77). if anyone has some more info i would be glad to hear it. Thanks for your time, Joe.

Heym i remember seeing a list somewhere that showed the horsepower ratings for all stock GM vehicles/engines. I was wondering if anyone knows of a good place to get this info, i would appreciate your help. Oh, and does anyone know what the stock horsepower is on a 1990 305 v8 with TB injection? i have line one for $140... i would replace the TB with TPI or a carb, since i assume the HP rating is pretty low with the TB. thanks for your help, Joe

here are some pictures that have to do with the shaved door handle install i am currently doing. I bought Autoloc's shaved door handled kit with 2 remotes, 2 35lb solenoids, one reciever and 3 relays. i'll take pictures of all of it tomorrow, while i am installing it. http://joezcar.freewebspace.com/photo.html Also heres my post about the shaved door handle kit. http://www.hybridz.org/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=9;t=001078 -
Hey, i was wondering if the dimesnions of the caddy v8s are the same or similar to the chevy. in terms of mounting locations, and things like height, wieght, or length ... basically, can i cram one into my 77 280Z? Thanks for your time. Joe

i still signed the petition...there is too much nascar on the speed channel... leave nascar for espn. how much fun is it to sit around all day saying, "oooooh wow, look how fast that car turned left again...." oval racing, and even most road racing nascar events are about as boring as racing gets for me.. I miss turning to the speed channel and seeing off-road racing 50% of the time, and good road racing the rest. just my opionon though, Joe

Beauty, but no brains. I dropped out of high school to get away from the utter incompetence that is the California (and the National) education structure. It is frightening to think that these kids are going to be the future of America...(oh yeah, and the present leaders of America are sooooo great ) I suppose that the pattern is always the same, the smart kids are naive, the jocks are neanderthals, and the rest are just there. It has always seemed to me that the more perfect someone was in terms of their physical appearance, the less attractive they were in terms of their personality. Though that isnt always true, it seems to take a special mindset for a "beautiful" person to also be a "good" person. eh, I'll stop there before i go off on other tangents... seeya, Joe

Here are some pics of my brackets and solenoids, And a picture of the bracket installed. Also a picture of my door popper installed. So far everything has gone pretty smooth... http://joezcar.freewebspace.com/solenoid.jpg http://joezcar.freewebspace.com/bracketinstalled.jpg http://joezcar.freewebspace.com/IM001858.JPG (i had to drill a hole into the interior of the car in order to allow the door popper to clear when compressed.Unfortunately, as you can tell i had horrible lighting, and i dont have any good pictures of the extra hole.) I'll let you guys know how everything goes tomorrow, or sunday... (I have to drive to Chico again! *sigh*) Thanks, Joe

The Corbeau Forza II is described as a racing seat for large people... I just grabbed a random site that had a picture of it... here: http://store3.yimg.com/I/soloracerdotcom_1723_4639176 http://www.soloracer.com/corbeauforza2.html Joe.

I'm Bored, Does anyone know of a good 3-d graphical design programs to be had on the internet? I'm thinking of drawing up a few of my modifications (and ideas) in some simple cad type program... thanks, Joe

I just figured it out... If i cut out a small section of the door (2 1/8"x5") on the interior, right in front of the door handle, then cut my mounting plate to 2" wide, and weld a 3"x6" or so sheetmetal plate (12-14 gauge) to the back of the mounting bracket and then use some sheet metal screws to secure it to the inner door panel and run the pull wire right to the eyelet that the inner door handle runs to. I think that it will be a perfect fit... I'll let you know in a week or so how it works out (i dont have a welder at my house so i am having a friend in Redding do the welding...) sleep time, joe

I just looked at the door and realized the only place i may be able to put the solenoid, is right where the interior door handle is mounted... I'll have to fab up a bracket or something, unless i can put it in front of the door handle... hmmm, it might not be a great idea to completely do away with the interior door handles... this isnt going to be as easy as i had hoped... Joe
