Great job on the welding, what size and make turbo? I think I might have its twin brother. Jerry
thanks.
Borg Warner Airwerks S400 with 75mm ETT Compressor Wheel, T6 exhaust with 1.32 A/R.
basicly off 12L detroit 60's
should be a really free-flowing setup

What kind of mufflers are those? look like flowmaster...

Recent trips to el mirage and watching cars run got me hooked on speed. having so many differen't setups in my car i got bored and decided to go all out. so the Plan now is to run the car at el mirage dry lake speed trials..then hopefully to bonneville salt.
I have a lot of work to do in little time if i want to make the first race mid may.
Im running blown fuel modified sports class.
When i started building the car the class record was only 189 mph, now its 214mph if i rember correctly.
I know getting these cars over 170 is a real chore.. all i know its going to be a fun ride!
i got my hands on a t-56 6 speed from a LS1 camaro it either has a .5 or .63 6th gear ratio for plenty of gear with stock rear ratio.
Depending on what size tire i run i should be geared for 230-250 mph @6000rpm..
im expecting 800hp from a mild 350 chevy, going blow-through setup.
the location of the turbo isint set in stone but i have the long waterpump and serp belt system and its becoming a real pain to get the turbo where i want without cutting a hole in the hood.. I might just turn the turbo so the compressor wheel pokes through the hood or just run it how it is.
more to come.

heres some pic's of where im at.
Heres a t6 turbo flange i made on the cnc mill, has extra mounting holes for support bracket's
t6 vs t3
this is the first cage ive done, its all 1.75x.084 e4130
T-56 tremec trans
turbo mock-up
im going to run 5" off the turbo to out the right fender though stock battery location.
more to come. I'm adding full funny car cage and air/water intercooler among other things

Take your time with the tuning, don't want to mess anything up now.
Keep up the good work and have a good xmas.
X2!

with some creative working you can fit a CAI in there
on a friends hx35 325i bmw we gained 25rwhp just by removing the K&N air filter off the turbo inlet. I imagine that setup hurts air flow big time..

magnaflow
does it have to be round?

what car do those bov's come off of?

dustin i read in another thread your using the (s472) s400? if so it has a smaller turbine wheel size than the (s475). this might be the way to go if you have 300-350ci motor because it spools sooner, just a thought.

It is 2.5"
wonder what the diffrences are between 2.5 and 3" hotside piping... i chose to go the 2.5" route
ive been working on the rollcage mostly but heres where im at with the exhaust
im gonna dump the 5" out the fender, should help spool?
-
i heard there were some knock-off pumps going around, idk if this is your case or not. Where did you buy it?
-
Big thanks for the info dustin.
i hear ya , im working fulltime, partime college and baby.... just gotta own up to your priorities. luckily i got most of my parts b4 the baby got here! haha
I doubt my 2 bolt is splayed, if i window the block i'll install the Lt1 and setup the efi.

James

FIRST OFF, tell me what your engine combo is, and what your goals are for the car. Are you going to be fuel injected or blowthrough?
For now i plan on running 99% street. and whatever boost pressure it takes to make 500whp daily.

Whats your ring gap?
I just pulled the motor back out today (ouch) to file the piston rings to .020~.025 gap for the high boost. im nervous i think the're .01~.015?
Whats your ring gap?
And when it goes back together ill install the MLS headgaskets...
Thats my plan for now at least...to get it on the road
late'09 or sooner if that motor grenades i intend to install my 4-bolt LT1 running MegaSquirt and EDIS-8 and probably S480 t6 flanged turb

I'm welding up my hotside right now, same ssauto headers. I was going to cut off the T3 flanges off and go to 3" v-band but your car seems to run well, i just left them on like you, alot easyer...
I have a 70mm t4 turbo but planning on switching to the t6 s400 later.. do you think its on the big side for mild 350ci street use?

any updates on this car?

music to my ears!

shame, almost finished.
I've been there too, getting burnt out.. just need to take a break and maybe get to ride in some ultra fast turbo cars will get the passion flowing again.

im running a 265/35-18 rears with uncut fenders and 4" dia. (stock) springs.
edit: i had a very light rub under hard cornering on the fender lip, i rolled the lip up with a baseball batt. fixed.

I'm in the process of converting my turbocharged sbc Z to e85. Should be up and running in 2 months.. e85 is a poor mans race fuel!
I wouldn't convert a n/a car to e85, The real benefit to be had is the forced induction cars.
Yes higher CPR is good but more boost can be better.
My problem is the closest E85 fill station is 1 hour drive away..
i plan on filling a 55 gal drum at a time until they build a fuel station near me.
anyone know the shelf life of e85?

got my bellhousing today for my ls1 t-56+gen1, and i need some clutch opinion's . dual friction centerforce looks good but not sure if it will handle the hp im likely going to make 500ish hp. not much drag racing. primarily street / touring.
Any there any budget minded clutches out there?

That guy is running those same headers. they work well.
