  1. congrats on getting it running,, for the radiator hose.. the cheapest way would be... get a coat hanger and open it up.. bend the shape you need and take it to the auto parts store.. see if you can find 1 or 2 to match.. you can also get 2 hoses that march what you need.. cut and couple them together.
  2. soooooooooo, to NOT confuse the issue.. lets call the H.O. motor a Hydro Roller motor... due to the fact that MOST people consider the HO motor to be the motor out of the 87-95.. sure the 85-86 motor was an anemic 4bbl single exhaust HO buttttt when people pull a motor from a junk yead there not pulling a pre 8x motor and trying to put a roller cam in it.. hell the lifters wout work w/o tie bars..
  3. thanks for the info.. i looked into using this motor but it seems the parts are very expensive..
  4. and for everyone that thinks im wrong.. Why Hydraulic Roller Cams are better http://www.cranecams.com/?show=article&id=8
  5. DO NOT USE THAT CAM.. if its lobe ramp is designed for a roller lifter it is probably to agressive for a flat tappet.. youl probably wipe the lobes sending metal into the motor.. if it does run youll get valve float at rpm's and drop a valve on top of a piston..
  6. ummm.. i would pull the cam and put in a HO cam.. the non-HO cam is a flat lifter cam.. it is not nearly agressive (lobe ramp rates) as the HO cam.. will it work w/ the non HO? yes, if you change the fireing order. BTW.. i have two custom ground HO cams for sale if interested
  7. I agree, some people say this dosent happen.. some say it does.. I had a 302 efi w. the tfi.. put the motor @ tdc and note rotor to housing alignment. pull and restab dist back a tooth maintaining housing/rotor alignment and see whayt that does.. ive had the same problem..
  8. ive got 2 custom cams for sale if intested.. 1 by buddy rawls and is a beautiful 302 (not 331/347) street cam. and a radical (302) cam motions cam that would suit a 331/347 great.. ran the both w. the tfs tw heads.. btw the TFS package is a really nice combo on a 302.. wouldnt spec it for a stroker... btw.. i know this will stir up a bunch of ♥♥♥♥... but.. i wouldnt worry toooooo much bout the dynamic CR.. 3cc isnt enough to bicker bout.. if anything it lowers static cr and i see yor may be a poweradder guy.. stay w/ the lower cr.. your not shooting for a high hp/per leiter motor.. if so you wouldnt be using a 302 block.. ive had a n/a 302/ a nx/ a turbo 302 and have a grasp on what works for a 302 based motor.. theory is great but 3cc dosnt win a race...
  9. wow.. you didnt have to have the tubes shortened or the axles cut? wow.. what about the weld in points of the 4 link? hard to align? im new to chassis stuff so forgive the ignorance..
  10. do you have any detailed build up picks on the rear end.. im boucing options around but am thinking of a back 1/2 car.. true 4 link.. any ideas?
  11. its a truck motor.. all torque no hp.. weighs a ton
  12. thanks guys, thats the info i wanted. sorry for the ignorance.. been working on 302 turbo mustang for the last few years. I think im gona go a more economical route via the ford "pinto" motor.
  13. a while back i read about a guy that was mating a volvo 16v head to the pinto block.. think he got it running... whats the scoop on the 2.0 head? is it better? bigger vlvs? more flow? required mods? when i do this it is gona be BIG:evil: was looking at some cosworth motors.. i figure i could find some euro head but it would probably be insanely expensive...
  14. thanks for the links guys.. guess to 302 may be that light.. guess thats why they crack down the lifter valley @ 500hp under 6000k rpms... i hope to pick up a z in the next few weeks.. have my eye on one.. it seems everyone is into the import swaps and i REALLY think the pinto motor is the way to go especiallly w/ the tranny options.. but whats your view on the nissan 4 cyl twin cam? dale.. might be intersted but not sure what trim/a/r/housing i will need.. only messed w/ turbos on a 302.. i assume a t3/t4 hybrid would be the answer? i plan on having the head thoroughly ported w/ bigger back cut vlvs..etc
  15. aahhhh.. im so sorry.. i think your right.. should i start a new topic or can you point me in the right direction? will this motor make the power? say you had 1800$ to spend what would you do.. thx
  16. hmm, i was told it was a 4 cyl twin cam
  17. i am working on a plan to put together a z-swap.. what kind of power (hp/tq) can you get out of a rb25 turbo 4cyl? btw what cars do these come out of? JDM only? cam, stroker kits available? whats the cost to rebuild one.. what are the transmission options and ease of rebuilding one (will it hold 500hp).. i know to many questions.. if you tell me to do a search i will hunt you down and kill your dog/cat.. btw... im looking for 500RWHP out of a 4 CYL w/ a lot of boost:flamedevi
  18. ahhh screw the drive bys.. he needs to gas it from a stop... that would be fun
  19. migh do that.. a 302 crossmember should work fine.. thx
  20. YEp,, thats my idea.. and w/ a borg warner T5 i can rebuild it myself (had a turbo 5.0 cpe) also, i really wonder how much easier and cheaper the sr25/20 motor would be.. i do all fab work/welding myself
  21. DITTO what ED said...
  22. people are getting 500+ hp/7500 rpms out of these motors @ 30lbs.. anyone have any comments on these motors.. they have been used in thee circle track arena for years. the other benifit.. it mates to a T5 trans.. simple.. plain and simple.. heres my idea. bored pinto motor worked head turbo cam lots of boost mega squirt i/c t5 should make for a VERY light powerful highreving 4 cyl. engine should sit far back.. 50/50 weight dist?
  23. the dss 331 package (probe pistons) will be fine.. the benifit of the 331 is w/ the 5.315 is the pin location. all though teh rod ratio isnt as desireable as the 5.40 it keeps the wrist pin out of the oil control ringland. thats why you will hear people say the 347 will have oil consumption problems. another thing, do you plan on turbo charging the stroker? is so i would stay away from a dual eyebrowed piston (twisted wedge and inline). there is a tendancy to lift the top ringland under severe boost pressures.. but by the time that happens most guys are running 700+ hp on dart blocks.
  24. umm K, Had to post, havnt been to this site in years. first off. run the 302 w/ the stock cam and heads first.. next.. if its a strong shortblock put some 165 afr's or 185 tfs tw's on it. if not wait to blow the motor w/ spray and run 185 afr, high ports, darts, or 205 afr's. for the 2nd group of heads you will need notched pistons so i would wait for a rebuild. i would stay away from the main girlde. waste of money. if you stay below 500hp & 6000rpm your ok w/ the stock block.. more you need a dart or other. i ran a 400hp 440tq turbo 302 in a 92 mustang and it was fast.. in a 240z which is at least 300 lbs lighter its probably really fast.. i would wait.. no need to burn money.. im thinking up a 240z prioject now that would have the ford 2.3 @ 30+ lbs of boost @ 500+ horse out of a 4 cyl.
