  1. So i was driving home one night after work and my car shut off about a mile 1/2 down the road. I have a fuel pressure gauge before the fuel rail and it was reading 0 so i changed the fuel pump. That didn't fix the problem so i replaced my alternator, fuel filter, spark plugs, and injectors. I also recently replaced the ecu wiring harness. Now the problem i believe is my fuel pump modulator (turbo model only). I Wired the fuel pump up to my battery directly and it seems to pump too much fuel and floods the engine. i may not fully understand the whole fuel system so im asking for anyone's input who knows more. I need to know if there is a way to troubleshoot or maybe bypass this modulator, or maybe just buy i new one. thank you
  2. I purchased my 82 280zx about a year ago and i am still finding random wiring issues with my car. Recently my dash lights went out along with my running lights, but my brake lights and turn signals work just fine. Im not very experienced with wiring repairs so I've been struggling to find the problem. Im 90% sure its a short behind the dash somewhere but i cant seem to find it. So my solution until i can buy a complete wiring harness for my car is to manually wire the running lights through a toggle switch i will install in the dash. So my question is how exactly can i run my own power wires to rig this switch to work? any help/references is appreciated.
  3. I was driving home yesterday and as i was turning on the street my house is on, sparks started shooting out of the hood vent near the battery. As it turns out the previous owner of my 280zx used an old bungee cord like you would use in the back of a truck to hold the battery in place. Well this cord snapped and my battery grounded out on the hood, thus the sparks and then fire. Luckily i carry a fire extinguisher in my cars somewhere and was able to put it out before it really messed anything but the battery up (and a little spot on the underside of the hood). This incident really opened my eyes to the possibilities of how my car had been "rigged" in the past. This time it was just $100 for a new battery and a battery mount, but next time it could be worse. So learn from my mistake and don't trust the previous owners!
  4. If I can find a camera I'll take some pics of mine. The paint is blue but I'm in the process of blacking everything else out. I found a taillight blackout spray that worked really well, here is a link to it: http://www.amazon.com/VHT-Shades-Cover-Black-Coating/dp/B00290CBGA
  5. Good looking parts man. I would order a front skirt set if the price wasn't too bad. Would the wale tail fit on to a s130 as well?
  6. I recently bought an 82 280 and i have been having the same exact problems. I am a novice when it comes to these cars but im 90% sure its all a wiring problem. i took my dashboard out and looked around for a shorted out wire and my taillights came back on. And i (mostly) solved the backfiring problem when i re-wired (hard wired) the ECU. If you find anything else out about these problems please let me know!
