  1. Thanks! Not sure how I missed that thread. Been reading up on that swap for a while now. Just not sure if I want to spend more time under a car vs driving one. Finally finished a 3 year restoration project and kinda just want to drive now.
  2. Wish I could have made the show. Would have tried harder if I knew this was going to be there...
  3. Now if they would only offer that for S30's.
  4. Just an update. No word on the Ford 8.8 but I did get this from Dave over at ArizonaZ today.
  5. 2nd, that 6 speed is crap. Lots of the Z33 guys having issues mid 300-400 hp.
  6. I've just been gathering info for the past week. About to venture out of my saftey domain of Z32's and the VG30DETT. Doing my research right now. I'm not afraid of custom fabbing. But to have a good quality bolt on product would be nice too. Especially with the number of good products ArizonaZ puts out there for us. Glad to see a company still investing in R&D for the S30s. I'll just keep an eye open on this thread. If we get enough interested parties I'll approach them on costs. Might be worth it to us even if we can only get 10-20 people at the start. Never know without knowning all the costs involved on ArizonaZ's side. Glad to see at least some are interested though.
  7. Still just thinking about getting an S30 and the RB26DETT, but emailed Dave just to see if they had something in the works or not with all the talk about the RB26. Maybe something with a larger capacity and custom baffles like their pan for the stock motor. He said they could make something like that, but it would take ~100 confirmed orders. I don't think there is that big of a demand yet, but maybe someone here that knows a bit more about the demand (or lack there of) might be able to get the ball rolling, or shot down from the start. In other news (probably common to everyone else) they are working on something for the R-230 Z32TT rear diff for the S30s though. More details later this year. Wish I could get rid of this 2+2TT faster so I can actually start looking for an S30 chasis and RB block to play with.
  8. 8.5:1 is stock on the TT's. Just FYI. Need to do more than just swap to TT pistons. If going with stock TT pistons you will need to change out the oil squirters too. Or go with some aftermarket pistons that can use the spray pattern of the NA squirters. Obviously you will need to change out from the 370cc injectors too if you are going with anytype of forced induction. While I'm sure there is quite a bit of info here on the VG's, even more can most likely be found over at twinturbo.net. We are pretty much only VG30DE and DETT over there. You planning on running boost over 5psi? Intercoolers? What are your plans for fuel pressure requirements? TBH, getting a used DETT motor or a front clip is probably the easiest way, and with the costs of them, probably alot cheaper than fabbing everything up.
  9. Got me. Can always give John a call. All us Z32 guys normally just get a pair of used TT heads for the swap. They aren't that expensive. I use the NA blocks for the build up and slap on some TT heads and call it a day. Need to watch out for the oil squirters too if you run with stock TT pistons in the NA block, they are designed to flow through the piston, now if you go with forged, the na squirters should be fine. I've never heard of any failures on this, just an FYI on block differences. A search on tt.net might dig up the detailed differences though. That was just a post I recalled from memory over there.
  10. Been reading just about every post here for the past week regarding RB26 swaps and just wanted to say how impressed I am with the knowledge and community you guys have over here. Once I get my current Z sold I'll probably be over here quite a bit more. Hopefully with mostly reading and searching, but I'm sure there will be a few things I will need to ask on since I'm new to the RB26 and S30 world. So please, be gentle. Just a bit about myself. Please feel free to stop reading at anytime. You won't hurt my feelings, I promise! Just wanted to give a bit of background in hopes of not getting tared and feathered after my first newbie post, which I'm sure will happen eventually. I most likely will be looking at just a stock RB26 powered 240 or 260 to start off with. Not because that is all I need, but more because I do this as a hobby and enjoy restoring and working on Z's. I have no doubt that once I get that on the road the motor will come back out for some upgrades, but it seems like a good start at least. Of course I'll be in the powertrain forums too, but since alot of those upgrades are based off the S130/Z31/Z32 my knowledge there is a bit stronger and shouldn't ask as many stupid questions. I've owned close to 15 Z's in the last 14 or so years, everything from 280's to Z31(T) to Z32(TT)'s. My last project was close to 3 years long, and was restoring a 1990 Z32 2+2 to a 2+2TT. More on that over at tt.net if you are interested. I'm sure some of you are wondering why not just go with what I know and stick a VG in there? Well, to be honest I thought about it. I know it fits and works great, but I need something new. That is the whole reason for going with the RB. I seem to have lost the Z32 bug for now, but am hesitant to leave the Z scene just yet. I've had one at all times since I was 17, so being Z-less is a tad strange for me. Anyway, sorry for wasting your time over here. Just wanted to say hi.
  11. Yes, they are different. Russel from Z1 sums it up nicely with this:
