i got mine of a r32 skyline(oem from japan) to put on my z they (almost) fit right on
similar to the round lights i havent finished it yet ill photochop a photo
to give an idea what it should look like when done
yeah i realise that but how unreliable would it be to just use the compressor wheel and the t4 housing ? i just want to make sure there the right parts and i plan on canabalising it and using mostly oem i just didn't want to have to pay huge money for the two parts i need
(i think thats all i need chime in please )
ok i read all this
http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=117133
espessialy this
http://www.mygen.com/users/dbruce/myz31/TurboMaps/L28ET%20Engine%20Air%20Flow%20and%20Turbo%20Compressor%20Maps.htm
and from what i read it seems the t04e with the 50 trim is the best compressor choice on a l28et what i am wondering is that running on the stock exhaust wheel ?
then i have this turbo i found on ebay
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230061868807&fromMakeTrack=true
if if those calulations are correct and there using the stock .63 exhaust wheel. i should be able to hack toghether i good turbo using the parts i have from the watercooled 85 300z turbo i have and use whatever parts from the ebay turbo just to make all the plumbimg line up without having to buy a new 5 bolt wastegate and downpipe till later
i guess my overall question is does this look like the right turbo if i just wanted it for parts ( as i've read the storys about ebay turbos)
as compared to buying the three parts i need to completley rebuild my turbo (i already got a rebuild kit) i need the t4e cold side housing $30-80 t4 50 trim wheel $60-120
im starting a thread that hopefully with achive sticky status
first what is the stock turbo specs for any given year ?
compressor wheel trim / exhaust trim
any housing changes needed ? oil or oil/water ? est. hp ?
just as base line refrence
second what are you running ?
year z model
compressor wheel trim / exhaust trim
any housing changes needed ? oil or oil/water ? est. hp ?
mostly cause im rebuilding my turbo right now and want to go with more power (of course) and was finding it difficult to find base #'s
STock T3 from a 95 300z
Heres the burt oil buildup that killed the engine it was originaly attached to
so i got the turbo it is the 85 t3 with the single carbon encapsulated seal
im in the process of rebuilding it
but in the mean time i got under the hood and worked at taking out the old turbo (goal being to switch them at the same time) ...
now i know why it sounded like a ball brearing rolling around in a coffee can.
the compressor wheel lock nut is gone !!! the compressor wheel was just spinning on the shaft loose ! theres oil everywhere and i havent found the nut yet but on a test i did on the dismantled turbo theres no way it could fit thru the compressor wheel without snapping a blade off so hopefully it will appear as i contine to work on this the compressor looks to be pretty bent up but intact (knocks on wood) hope no stray metal chunks got sucked into the motor
pictures of the carnage
600 that makes my wallet hurt just thinking about it
someone should make a y adapter just like that with a metal flange and a pull cord that would work like a choke all the way in would push through exhaust out would go thru the open pipe
edit: TADA i think ill try this !much better price

85 300z turbo in 83 280zx ????S
i have aquired an 83 z turbo garret t3
it has oil and water cooling has anyone else done this swap ?
i wish to make use of the water cooling as well as the oil and am wondering what two points to tapin the engine cooling to get pressure flow thru turbo ? or do i just need coolant in turbo ? like i could run a small aux pump and a feed and return from the reserve coolant tank ? (could even give it its own radiator) that might be over kill ..waiting for enlightment:wink:
ok if thats a spanner then whats the screw type thing you use to push your rear calipers back in place when your doing your brakes?
i thought that was called a caliper spanner and the stearing tool looked very similar it bolted on left and right side and the socket is in the middle so it pulls the steering wheel and the nut at the same time they just called a wheel removal tool:ugg:
What %#^& SIZE is the bolt on the steering wheel
i've tried every size i can get my hands on im about to go to somewhere and buy a socket to fit it but i need the right size cause i don't want to go back a bunch of times
most of the ones i have that look like they would fit just make my horn beep:mad:
the manual says you nees a spanner like tool is that something you can borrow from advanced ?
