78mm Fast, stock home ported TBThat car sounds GOOD with the cut out open. Period... Nice times! What size manifold is your fast? Stock throttle body? Congrats! Thanks, I've seen some of your vids...♥♥♥♥ is comedy when the announcer is like "whats wrong with the the straight six?" and then you proceed to murder that other Z right after. It was like an answer to his question...LMAO
Did you replace that broken axle? Or go to the Q45 diff now?
-
This car is more of a go fast ---> get safe type of deal...LOLGet safe and go fast...................In that order. Good vid!!!!!!!!
My full exhaust system is kinda janky and through the muffler it made 370rwhp but with the electric cutouts open it made 426rwhp and 407 rwtq. All this was on a DYNAPACK Dynamometer the one where you unbolt the wheels. It was tuned very quickly (it was like 3am) and isn't running too much timing and AFR was around 12.5...I think theres a bit more in it.Just curious, you titled this thread as 420 rwhp, have you dyno'd it or is that an estimate.I'm not trying to bust your chops, your 1/4mile speed is right were mine is so we should be in the same range of rwhp but I have not dyno'd this setup.
thanks
Jeff
Put some tires on you Z and you will be in the 10's. I know that Sergio's ls2 280z was making 409RWHP and ran 10.8@132.You might be able to run 134mph with your setup.
Mike
Sounds kinda high MPH for Cali speedway. Maybe at a track with a better DA. I suppose it's possible. I was either having to shift very lightly or shift at 5k into 2nd and 3rd to keep from spinning (non-posi).
You ran those times all motor right? Have you ever run on the nitrous?(seems like you had the bottle in Mexico) I've seen your vids in Sac...whats not to believe? 1.6 60ft is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ awesome. So you believe me now?Last time I dynoed the Z was making around 415 whp and 39? torque.
-
best 1/8 et was 8.198 and best 1/8 mph was 93.52

Hey Edan...not this week but probably the following. I'm still dealing with some registration stuff on the car which should be solved by the weekend after this. I brought it out once last month to try some slicks but I don't like driving it around unregistered:sad:.
-
Maybe its the camera angle but it looks like the mustang beat you off the line but you had the power to catch up. If so then I'm sure you'll be in the 11's in no time.
Yeah the mustang was on MTs but my Datsun is much faster. I hope to see 11s on street tire...maybe 10s on a 100 shot with some sticky rubber.
Ummmmmmmm...... Are you crazy? 121 on dry rotted tires? You do realize that the bodies on these cars are just about beer can material. Your life is worth a set of tires.haha yeah:shock:, that thought went through my head. I inspected the tires before each run to make sure they werent seperating and I also figured it wasn't sustained high speed driving. Lastly, I just couldnt resist:twak:.
-
Well I took it to the track for the first time...One hell of alot of fun. I was on the dry rotted and cracking 195/70/14 tires I bought the car with, but it still did a 2.0 60ft. I have about 150 miles on the swap now. I made about 7 passes with my best ET being 12.3 and best MPH being 121 all motor. Best part is I didnt break anything or have any problems!!! (probably thanks to the crappy tires)
Me vs my Buddy's Vette (my cutouts open...noisy:mrgreen:) 12.3@120
Me vs Terminator cobra (closed cutouts) 12.7@116

My specs are in the video in my sig.

I have to agree with Vin...there is no oil pressure safety on the LS1. I had as LS1 running with no oil pressure for a short period (had the wrong pickup tube o-ring) and it had zero oil pressure...also the sending unit only feeds the oil pressure guage nothing else and there are no other oil pressure related sensors.
-
thats the one...I got mine for $15 but I had time to go to the junkyard.
-
walboro 255 I think most people use it...It cost between $90-$115 usually.
-
I wouldn't doubt it would shut it off that quick...The stock datsun pump probably put out around 15 psi...the ls1 needs 60psi. That 15psi you might have at the rail drops instantly when you fire it up and is probably starving the injectors.
-
Have you check the fuel presure?
yep...I think all the sitting my datsun did left a bunch of gunk in the tank...my friend with his LS1 Datsun had the same issue...debris messing up fuel delivery. Now my fuel pressure is a bit low (50psi)
-
taurus fan here....works great!
-
The saga continues... This thing is so much fun!
-
fuel pressure ok? terminal L is the alternator...won't hurt anything.

I hear yah...I was putting a gauge from a 76 into my 75 (had amp meter). I thought I had hooked it up wrong or something. I could have swore I went through the wiring perfectly...LOL.
-
hmmm interesting...does anyone think this puts much draw on the battery? Also what about the gauge...seems like it would burn out eventually or something. I was just about to get in there and change the gauge to read off a key on only wire...does anyone think this is a bad idea?Yes. -
Thanks for all the positive comments guys!
The ls6 heads are bone stock. I bought em off a friend with a 2002 Z06 with 8k on em (he went with ETP heads). The cam is a Comp Cams XTREME XE-R 232/234 .595/.598 [COM-54-446-11]. I have another Comp cam in my Blazer and it has worked well for me (not as radical/360rwhp) so I stuck with comp. This thing will be going to the dyno in short order after its drivable...I'm hoping to see at least 420RWHP NA *crosses fingers*, but I also just installed the N2O solenoids today which should put me right at about 500rwhp on a 75-100 shot. My Blazer ran 11.8 @ 114 at 500RWHP and 3800#s
) so the 280z will be quite a step up for me (or down in weight) LOL!LOL and as to how old I am...I'm 31 but you're not the first to tell me I look young (saw that you're 18 on your myspace)

good god
I can't believe he was able to run again after that landing! One Tough Z!
-
Needless to say I'm pretty happy but Alot still left to do.

Sell the auto tranny and re cope some on my investments, I thought to move it fast I sell it for $1000.00
You'll never get that for a 4l60e...maybe 500 for a used one.
Also get the guy in NYs phone numbers, address and maybe even his drivers license#....maybe pay through paypal so you can get your money back through your credit card company if you have a problem... also say you will pay some now and some after you recieve everything as promised:icon14:.

So damn cool I can barely stand it...Is that Joes GT? (IMVFILMS)
Where in Mexico is that? Is it an actual track or just some special location? Looks like soooo damn much fun!!!

I love reading a post with a happy ending!

Could someone confirm that I have got this right?
The oil pans fitted to 98-02 F-body LS1s are shallower than the standard LS1s and, the standard LS2 pans are even more shallower than the F-Body pans. So, I should be ordering (as per the list above) standard LS2 items which will all fit an LS1 block? Thanks.
All F-body LS1 oil pans are the same. The shollower pan came on LS2 Corvettes but not on LS2 GTOs. The winged pan only came on the LS1/LS6 Vettes.
Vids of my 420rwhp LS1 280z at the track.

IC...not knockin his Z just thought the situation was very amusing. I went with the 78mm cuz a buddy sold it to me for $400. I personaly like heads cam due to weight savings...but to each his own. I have the diff and flanges as well but have yet to order up any other parts yet. I want to figure out what I'm going to do about going to 5 lug and new brakes first.
