  1. well, i'm pretty sure it's not due to tires. and i'll look more for a shop to balance it just to make sure. suspension??!! maybe, i don't know, i'll have to check it later on, now i have no time at all working almost 100 hours a week (navy officer).

    thanks guys

  2. hi guys,

well i haven't touched my Z for the last 6 days (NO TIME), i haven't checked the drive shaft nor the angles and guess what? drove the car yesterday and there is NO VIBRATION at all !! i'm a bit confused because i haven't done anything to the car and the vibration just vanished!!

    any ideas??

  3. Hi Cleanzee and welcome here,

i agree on what Frosty383 said, get a T5, it is more fun to drive, my 302/T5 swap is complete and i'm havin alot of fun drivin it, i wouldn't swap the T5 for an AOD no matter what happens. well, this stays my personal opinion and it's up to you :)

    welcome again

  4. well mine is a ford V8 but still, its the same thing and i live in Kuwait, i'm using the stock 280z radiator for the last month and it cools good enough, not sure how it will perform when the temp hits 50C here in Kuwait, i only had to modefy the outlet lower hose position from the passenger's side to the driver's side. Also, i'm running one hell of an electric fan, it normaly comes on german cars like BMWs and benzes. they call it (Turbo fan)

  5. well, i'm still using the Z's radiator, modified it so the outlet is at the lower driver's side ,it works good until now knowing that i have one hell of an electric fan, i'll have to wait few monthes and see if it cools the engine when the Temp here in Kuwait gets to 50 C.

74_5.0L_Z the griffin 24 x 19 would fit without problems?? because i'm thinking about getting an aluminum one before the summer

  6. thanks guys for all the explainations, i'll try to check it tomorow and see how it goes. another question is ( since i have two different U joints, front mustang one and rear Z one, does that have to do with the vibration due to the difference in sizes between the 2 joints? if i cannot fix the problem, would it be safe to drive the car like this since the vibration only occurs when i back off the throttle?

    thanks

  7. davy, yes that helps alot thank you. at least i understand better the idea of DS angles. How to solve this problem? I dont think its possible to high speed balance a DS here in Kuwait. We dont have shops specelized only in DS. whe have normal machinary shops and they dont do high speed balancing. do you have any ideas how to solve the problem?

  8. hi guys,

well i have a 1977 280z with stock rear end and a 302 ford drivetrain.....my drive shaft is the ford drive shaft shortned and welded the rear part of the Z drive shaft on it, driving the car at low speed is ok and no problem, flooring it 1st,2nd gears are ok too, but as soon as i hit high speed, the car shakes alot, so i pulled the drive shaft, cheked the Z side and it was in a bad shape (shaky joints) so cut it and changed the Z part with a newer one, the car shakes less but still the annoying vibration is there every time i back off the throttle on 3rd and 4th gear.....I CHECKED THE STREETRODDER SITE and didnt really understand the problem of Driveshaft Angles..... as you know guys, i'm not a native speaker, could somebody explain it to me with simple english :)

i'm not sure if its the problem, if any of you guys have a clue, please help me out here and tell me what i should do......

    thanks

  9. hi Will, the heads i told you about have 2.02 and 1.6 valves,60cc tomorow i'll take them to my friend to check them, i think the lunati is hell of a big cam for me, i'm looking more into the 1500-6000rpm range, i saw this edelbrock cam and would like you to check it out.

at least i'll have a whole edelbrock performer RPM combo, heads, intake and intake manifold and cam shaft...what do you think?? if they are ok, what other parts do i need to install the whole thing? do i need new timing chain or not? simply what other stuff do i need?

    thanks Will

  10. hi Will,

i have a small question, when i floor my Z from 1st gear, she spins like hell with alot of power then go straight, when i shift to 2nd (not powershifting) the car seems to drop for a sec, looses power, then raise again and go fast???? is it my clutch? my 2.5 single exhause, is it my tranny, or is it my engine? i haven't tryed powershiftin yet due to the MC/SC problems i'm havin now... but what do you think ? had the same problem with my mustang before i swaped the engine?

  11. hi guys,

well i've never seen a 351w block before, and not really sure what trucks they came in, so if any body could kindly tell me what year/model they came in and how to identify a 351w block because i think we have alot of them in our ford junk yards here in Kuwait.....the 351 is not for my Z, its for my engineless mustang :)

    thanks

  12. holly $hit, 1750 bucks for a 302 R block???? do i really need a R block ? plus it weighs 160lbs, shippin alone is about 600 bucks :(

IMHO i'll pass for now until i split my block in 2 :)

well, i'll check the heads tomorow and let you know how it goes Will,

do you have any idea about D.S.S's level 20 blocks?? are they any good?

P.S. i forgot to tell you Will, there is a guy here who ran a 10.87 with the same 215s that i have :)

  13. 280zwitha383 thanks alot, happy to see that you are still concerend about my ride :) i'm glad too to have Gr8White here in this forum, he helped me alot......

Will, heheheheheheh i'm not stubborn, ok 51012 Lunati is the cam i'm gonna buy, CAM choise = done :)

about the heads, i asked the guy about em and he said, well i have no sheets and its a 2.2 intake, 1.9 exhaust and 60cc, he's been running them for a year and thats all he told me....

maybe tomorow i'm gonna take the heads to a port and polish shop that i know, i'll let him inspect the heads, if he tells me that they are in good shape, i'll take em, about the springs and the rockers, what do you recommend?? what does IMHO mean?? if its ok, send me parts number for the springs and rockers, and i'm getting the lunati :)

    thanks Will

  14. a small tip, if the upper opening of the radiator is at the driver side, then use an L28 lower hose from a 1977 280z, you have to cut it a bit to fit but it works good, i spent alot of time to figure out what hose to use, then i found an old lower hose from my old engine, tryed to fit it as is, i wasn't able, so i cut few inches out of it and looks like it was made for the 302 swap :)

  15. not sure if they are used often, i'm more into V8s,

they are rated around 220-240HP @ almost 6500RPM, stock maximas are fast and fun to drive @ almost 3200lbs, imagine that with a 2700lbs Z and few upgrades, if its a daily driver, start with the suspension like thehelix112 said, get a master bushings kit, new shocks and springs so it will ride better,

  16. ok, your future 260 will be a daily driver? street/strip? are you more into drag racing? autocrossin? drifting? i think you'll have to set a goal for your Z before spending any cash. i spent alot of cash on the L28, ordered parts and stuff, then i changed my mind and installed a ford 5.0....so i spent lmost 1200 USD on parts that i dont need anymore.
