  1. Does anyone have these handy? I am putting this r200 back together and Haynes does not give any specs for the ring gear or the carrier bolts. Help!!!!
  2. What is the differance? I just got all the parts to put a s15 VLSD in a r200 case. I got all the guts in, but am having difficulty with one of the half shafts(shortone). Also wondering if when I get this half shaft in, will Ross's CV kit work with the s15 half shafts?
  3. Go buy a manual! The diagrams will help you figure the wiring out. Pictures are worth a thousand words. As for the pig tails? I have no idea! I'd assume that the 77 is not the same, but I could be wrong.
  4. Just a thought. But maybe you can go to home depot or a tool rental place and rent a honda generator. Wala!!!! a power source for your array of power tools. wish I had thought of that when I found a awsome Scott Brunning Conv conversion in a junk yard once. It killed me to see all those man hours going to the crusher.
  5. I am in the process of this coversion right now. Although I am using a VLSD out of a Silvia S15. I got the stub axles with my carrier too. The Whole unit drops into the case and bolts right up. I am waiting for bushings because the carrier holes are 12mm and my ring is 10mm. Once those show up I am going to drop it in. With the CV style axles I should be in business. Although I am a little concerned about how far the stub axles stick out of the case. They are a good 3-4 inches longer than the stock r200 stubs.
  6. update I finaly got around to tearing down the r200 to see if this s15 vLSD would fit. Sure enough it does. But the output shafts are quite different from the R200s'. I will have some post up with pictures this weekend so I can get your guys take on my next step. I think I might be making custom axles and a CV conversion to make this work. So far my total cost is under 320 bucks.
  7. Heat gun works good. I took off the goofy stripes on my toyota truck a few years back. heat up the vinyl till it is soft and slowly peel it off. One thing to keep in mind though. I did it to a new truck. I have done it to an older truck and you could see where the stickers used to be. Even after lots of polishing the previously sun protected unfaded paint still showed. Not that bad, but I noticed it every time I saw the truck.
  8. I went over to some of my 4x4 favorites and did some poking around about making some axles to make this work. I came up with a place called Moser Engineering Custom Alloy Axles. They claim they can make these axles to make this silvia VLSD unit fit it a r200. If this is the case, I think this conversion can be done for 600 bucks or less. When I get more info I'll post it.
  9. I actually do not have it yet. I was supposed to meet him today but I had something come up. He is going to ship it to me now. As for the case I wanted to use. I have a r200 out of a 280zx with 390 gears. I was looking for a way to retrofit the VLSD into that case. Am I wasting my time?
  10. Did you come up with any info on the swap?
  11. I have read the archieves to no end and got some good info, but still have some questions. Recently I got caught up in the moment on Ebay and ended up with a s15 Silvia Vlsd. It(carrier) supposedly bolts into the early r200 case using early ring and pinion. so far so good! But now how do I get this connected to the wheels? The Imput shafts have different splines than the early r200 carrier? Can these older shafts be modified to work with the new Diff. Does someone make these shafts? if not, Where can I get the imput shafts that where intended to be used with the Vlsd? And can they be modified to fit the early R200? Am I on the right track here? Has anyone attemped this swap and have details of the swap? The archieves are very weak on this one. Sam
  12. Where can I get a rust repair panel for the area below the hatch and above the tail lights? I have read this is a common area for rust, but nobody sells a panel to fix this. Any suggestions?
  13. Tony, That is the best thing I have seen yet in regards to the turbo swap. do you have anymore of those pictures for the turbo swap. Pictures are worth a thousand words right! Sam
  14. thanks for the info! If there is anymore, keep it comming
  15. I know this is not a ferrari site. But since there is such a wealth of info on Z conversions, I thought some of you might be able ot steer me in the right direction. I want to take a ferrari 308 and drop a chevy tpi v8 with a auto trans into it. This car is for my dad who has wanting this setup for a long time. he wants the real deal though, no kit cars. Any ideas or information.
