i've heard the only way to get rid of a sunroof is to cut the whole top off another car and weld it on... not something that i would like to do...

heres some pics of mine.
How i made it:
I used 1/4 in expanded aluminum that i got from a friend in the fountain making buisness. First, I took measurements of the grill opening, then cut the aluminum to the size of the opening + 1 inch all around. I then bent the extra 1 inch inwards 90 degrees. To mount the grill I made up 3 aluminum L brackets, they all bolt to the underside of the bumper (where i drilled 3 small holes) and the bottom of the grill.
To mount the grill on the top, I removed the 280Z signal surrounds and used the holes they bolted into and just screwed 2 stainless bolts to keep it in place...one bolt on either side. (Make sure you use no rust metal like stainless or aluminum if you do this...) it's tricky to get the hood to clear, but with enough trial and error and slight adjustments to the grill you can get it to work no problem.
all in all, i'm happy with the results. i think it actually looks better than the 432R style grill because mine sits flush with the body, where as the 432R is recessed. And mine also hides the (ugly) 280Z turn signals.

interstesting, i'm also ready to order an aluminum radiator. i've never heard of ron davis intercoolers but they look like very good quality, do they make one specifically for a S30? sorry i coulden't awnser your question.

well i took a look at how the stock front calipers fit behind the front wheel and there is a little bit less than a finger space between them. i guess i'll just rebuild the stock calipers up front and get some discs in the back, at least until i change my wheels.

I haven't seen the video in a few weeks but i think the guy you are talking about is Nobeteru Taniguchi, winner of the last D1 that was held. i believe that he is a driver for TRD in JGTC...

CA and SR are both very good motors, but i'f go with the SR personally. There is a reason why the orginally CA powered 180sx was replaced with an SR motor in later years.

Have you ever seen that Mazda racing commerical where they show a bunch of thier race cars and there is a narrator saying "none of these cars ever spun a bearing, broke a connecting rod, or bent a valve." haha.

if you want to do it right, drop in a stock zxt motor. you might end up doing that anyways down the road once you get bitten by the turbo bug.

The '85 vintage Toyota 4X4 truck 4-pot calipers are a straight bolt - in, and will fit inside stock size 14" wheels, as will the 280ZX rears with the proper bracket.

see, but the thing is i need to replace my front calipers anyway. and i found a deal where i can get freshly rebuilt toyota calipers with x-drilled rotors as well as 280zx rear calipers and x-drilled rotors for 350 bucks shipped. i figure it's a good deal and will stop wayyy better than what i have on there now. i know that there are big advantages with going with vented rotors but i think this setup will do me just fine. the car is just being used as a weekend warrior basically, no racing really... what do you think?

argh, not what i wanted to hear, but thanks. what about the rear disc swap? do you think that would fit? i think it should because some 280zx's came with 14in wheels... i wish they made slots in 15 and 16in...

My front calipers are shot, so i've decided to go with the popular Toyota 4-pot upgrade with cross-drilled stock rotors. I was wondering if anyone is running this setup with the 14x7f 14x8r aftermarket slotted aluminum wheels (the ones in my sig pic)
i've also decided to swap out the drums in the rear with 280zx calipers and cross drilled rotors, i'm running 14x8 slots in the back.
Do you think there would be any issues with the brakes fitting under these wheels? thanks!
