  1. I was thinking its a leaky injector, which would account for the rich start, and the fact that the plug is wet.
  2. 52k and burns no oil. Runs a little rich. Pulled the plugs after cruising and all are dry aside from #1. Should also mention I get a puff of black smoke when starting it in the morning, from it being rich.
  3. Pulled the plugs and re gaped them. All the plugs are burning good but my #1 was wet when all of the others are dry.
  4. I changed over to the GM Hei Ignition module, put on the new Walbro pump, and cleaned the injector pins. It made a difference and cleared up a lot of it but I still have a noticeable miss at idle every once in a while.
  5. +1 for broken lock cylinder. My 77 ignition was the same way till I took it apart and rebuilt it using parts of spares I had laying around.
  6. All cylinders are getting spark and fuel, They are all firing, there is just a miss somewhere. If it makes a difference some of the Fuel Injector Mounting Blocks are cracked from the donor car. I have new ones on order.
  7. Fixed some things and got my 280z Turbo conversion running and on the road, My problem now is it misses pretty bad at idle and when holding a steady RPM. The car seems to be fine in boost but out of boost I get the slight feeling of hesitation, but my timing is set right at 20BTDC like the FSM states, plugs are gaped at 32 because I was getting spark blowout. I have a GM Igniter module but have not yet done the swap. Any ideas what else I should check before/after I do the igniter conversion.
  8. Then I wonder why my CTS is $10 and the CHTS is $40. Another easy way to make money I guess.
  9. Thanks for the reply. As for the injectors I am running stock turbo injectors, I swapped everything from my turbo donor car to my 77Z aside from the block and head. So everything on it is turbo. As it sits now I think it is running ok with using the coolant temp Sensor, it pulls hard in boost but kinda bogs out of boost. I know my O2 Sensor is bad and I may need to adjust my TPS which could be causing the bog.
  10. A little off topic but has to do with the same swap. Since my motor is the stock 77 280z motor it does not have a spot for the CHTS like on the ZX, only the Coolant Temp Sensor. AS of right now I have the CHTS wiring plugged into my CTS, Is this going to affect anything?
  11. I recently converted my stock low miles 77 280z engine to turbo using the ZXT harness and ECU. My question is I know stock turbo timing is 20* BTDC and stock NA timing is 10* BTDC, but since my motor is higher compression ratio then the stock turbo motor would that affect what I should set my base timing at. Also I have searched around but can't seem to find what the full timing curve is under boost. Any help would be appreciated, My car runs ok but seems to have a small misfire I believe is do to off timing and improper set TPS.
  12. Thank you so much for the help. On my Z the start signal wire is black/yellow.
  13. Sorry I should of explained that a little more. The part in red is explaining the black/white wire next to the Relay on the passenger side fender well. I may have just answered it for myself but confirmation would be nice. He just cut the wires before the white plug and wired those up? I got the other side of that white plug from my zx so can I just hook up the other side of that and have everything disconnect like factory? This swap is so simple but for the life of my I can seem to figure out what to do with the yellow START wire coming out of the ignition harness plug by the ECU. Any pictures or a quick overview of where you hooked all those wires up would be very helpful. Its all coming out of a 82 280zx turbo and going into a 77 280z if that makes a difference.
  14. I am right in the middle of doing my turbo swap and had a few questions. How did you hook up the start signal wire from the ignition plug? Also do you have any picture that could maybe help explain "-Black with white strip - Switched power (Needs to be run to a 12+ volt switched power) The end from the relay side needs to goto the switched power. Not the harness side." Sorry for the questions but I have been working on this car for a while and I cant think right now.
