  1. I have arp's and a 2mm nissan comp gasket, running 25 psi last time if I remember right, turned it up higher but didnt make much more power....if I recall it was 28 mabe more for the 480whp run.....Originally I thaught the head had cracked, as it was cracked before...I had a low k motor and took the head from that and ported it got new arp's new gasket......same happened.....changed the rad for a big aluminum one.....same happened....but keep in mind ive never driven the car with less boost till recently.....now at 15psi about 350 whp it isnt as bad but is still blowing out coolant......
  2. Does anyone have photos of different ways this has been done over the years, besides whats been posted up here allready..Just like to see some different options so I can get an idea how I want to do this.
  3. Ive treid 2 different rads and still had the same problem......I think I might try and tap into 4,5,6 and see if that fixes my problems.. im curious to see what the electromotive setup tooked like? did they tap off each cylinder and then run a thermosat on the manifold and block off the one at the head?
  4. When we were first tuning it after I put the new rad and head on I had a coke bottle on for the over flow and it would pretty much fill it up after 2 pulls....pretty violent. I have recently done a few pulls at 15 lbs and it seems not as bad but it still does it....I remember a while back on my old setup when I first got the car I would boost and watching the water temps, it would spike right up and then go back down. Did you have any problems like this after fixing the problem with the vac leak on the rad? What boost you run?
  5. Ive read through this whole thread trying to figure out my cooling problem in my turbo l28...Basicly whats hapening is when I boost it it blows coolant out of the overflow...Ive changed the rad, tried water wetter Changed head headgasket and still the same problem. I run with a fare amount of power (480atw) so im wondering mabe its just boiling the water from top of the cylinder? Mabe someone has a different idea, But I think im going to try and tap out 4,5,6 at some point.
  6. What I need is the tolerance for the (thrust washer)? that goes in between the needle bearing and the bellhousing. I lost the one that was in the tranny, but I found a different one, put it in and there is about .004 clearance.... Any help whould be awsome so I can order the right part from nissan the first time.... Sorry I dont have a pick of the part, but I think the part #(s) is 32218m if that helps, Nissan says there is 6 or 7 different sizes from .8mm to 1.4. MANY THANX, DUSTIN
  7. I busted my tranny real good at 460rwhp....it did have a fair amount of miles im sure, but it smashed 3rd gear right out of it...nothing left...just rolling into the gear.. This was right off the dyno 1st run down the street...hopefully ive found my last weak link..... Good work on the head BTW ( as if you havent heard it enoph )!!!!
  8. I need a wider flare then the factory sized zg flares I have now....I have seen pics of wider ones but all the sites I saw them on are japanese..... SO if anyone knows someone on this side of the globe that has something simmilar or knows who makes them in japan, that would be awsome.....basicly all I need is a wider rear Thanx........
  9. Put down 450 rwhp on the weekend then ran out of injector........Ive got some bigger injectors I will put in there soon and up the boost a bit more then hit the spray...
  10. Primairy length being the greatest distance in the bend? This manifold has lots of space to work with so im not worried, ive fit it all up so far and it fits and looks pretty good, its for a FC rx7 with a 20b. Ive used 2" sched 10 304 stainless pipe wich works realy well and was easy to come by....as for the runner lenghts, they are all equal the way ive measured it but I had a realization the it wont realy matter because of the flow charecteristics of the rotary engine(3 pulses every 360deg each runner) Nonetheless its still looks wicked !!
  11. Im fabing a turbo manifold, and I was wonderign how an equal length header is measured....I was measuring the longest length of the bend, but it seems the best way to do it would be by volume, mabe someone can enlighten me.... thanx, DUSTIN
  12. Who is making the z32 tranny adapter? Im in the market for buying one. Thanks, Dustin
  13. Thats not a bad idea....only my nos bottle might hit that....never thought of putting two of those together.
  14. The car will probly be used mostly for drag racing as there is not many tracks around here, but I would like to take it on some hill climbs as well. Im not to keen on putting a switch on the exterior of my car ! Has anyone cut out the rear compartment behind the seat and put the battery in there neatly....I think I saw a pic of that from someone on this forum.... I was thinking now would be the best time to move it while im doing the wiring. Depending on what happens with my setup now mabe in a year I might go to a 1jz or 2jz so I dont want the battery on the side where it will se alot of heat, also I would like to clean up the engine bay a bit, but that not all that important, just alot of people come by the shop and will be seeing my car.
  15. Looking for some ideas on where to put my batery, and possibly some pics.....I ws thinking of puting it behind the passenger seat in the stow away compartments and building a box insert.... Sorry if this thread is in the wrong section!!! Thanx again, Dustin
  16. Ive got a 88 turbo vlsd (r200) and ive read that the aftermarket clsd's like kaaz, cusco will fit in the long nose r200 as long as the clsd is for an open diff.....I just wanted to check what the spline count is on my 88 vlsd r200 and what the spine count is on the short nose r200 open diff...... I have looked around the site fairly well but I didnt see an actual # of splines on either....just that the short nose r200 vlsd have a different spline count then the open diff Im thinking of going tomei technical trax 2 or 1.5 way....im guessing from a r32 skyline or and s13 ? Any help would be awsome THANX Dustin
  17. My Nissan Comp gasket that I ordered not long ago, 2mm, has only 3 thick layers, I was thinking of doing the same thing so I didnt need to shave so much off my new head. It took me allmost 4 months to get my head gasket, I was pretty pissed with that, all summer I waited, and that was right from nissan......I guess thats part of the territory with 30 year old cars, being in canada doesnt help either...... Sorry to hear about your car.......see you at the track hopefully sooner then later !!!
  18. How big is the tubing on that header? Thinking of making one of my own, but the 1.5 inch tubing that I can get is just a bit smaller than the ports.I assume its a metric pipe size....
  19. still not seeing anything relating directly to Turbo.....mabe im just blind....just a small blurb in the first couple posts, thaty all I could see
  20. That thread talks more about head design then actual valve size....or mabe I missed something The other threads Ive looked at just talked about larger exhuast valves, looking for the guys running big power, what valve combo's they might have tried, etc. Also It might be helpfull to say that the head is a P90.....
  21. Thanx....ill take at look at the cam and see if theres #s stamped in the back, otherwise I guess I will have to do it the long way.....
  22. hey man thanx for the heads up...im just trying to get everything sorted out to be perfect and well see what #'s it makes......If it goes past 500 I have to shave my head, so I kind of hope it does, and at the same time I dont... my setup is pretty similar to yours, it be nice to see some pics. I was thinking of building a better exhaust manifold with better runners then the on I have on there now, so it would be intersting to see what you have done there...
  23. I got to about 348rwhp on a dynojet I think 11 or 12 PSI. It was only about two pulls after getting my engine back together and changing a couple things, but the engine under boost was blowing coolant out of the resevoir so I think it was due to a faulty repair on my head. I will be back for more tho, turn up the boost ( I was only running on the spring) and mabe hit up the Nitrous... specs at that time were: L28ET GT35R with a T4 rear housing Unknown exhaust manifold Q45 throttle body and modified intake 650cc injectors mild head work( cleaned casting marks out of the head and matched the intake and exhaust ) overbore pistons and rods ballanced and blueprinted unknown cam and adj. gear 3" straight downpipe no muff. Apexi intercooler Microtech LT10 ECU
  24. Ive read various posts about using a larger exhaust valve for turbo app. but I was wondering if there would be any benefits of using a oversize intake valve as well? I will also be running nitrous as well if that makes a difference in valve selection at all. I was thinking of using the Ferrea 1mm oversize valves
  25. My car has a "performance" cam in it.... I was told that its for turbo (not alot of overlap) but I cant remember what kind it was or mabe the guy that sold me the car didnt know either.... Nissan Comp comes in my mind but im unsure of there ever being one. What I was wondering if there is a way of finding out my cam specs ? THANX, DUSTIN
