  2. Just had this problem on my 86, not sure if they are the same or similar...we think it was a bad relay, we just jumped over it and it works fine for now. Check the wiring diagrams to see if they're the same

  4. Hey guys! I have an 86 Z31 N/A Coupe...a few problems have come up and I'm not sure what to do. -very rough cold start. I'm suspecting it's the CHTS, so I purchased a new one along with a new subharness. I would have to crank it 8 or 9 times before it would catch. It doesn't have a problem starting warm. -There's a new problem where I'll have to unhook the battery for the car to know there's enough charge to start up. other wise I'll turn the key and the start lights will come on but the starter won't click or anything. If I unhook the battery and hook it up again, it goes back to normal. I have no idea what it is. The battery terminals are new, and it will fire up once I unhook and rehook it. If I turn it off and back on, it will work fine. If I come out the next morning however, it will just be like it's dead. Unhook and rehook the battery, and it will crank 8 or 9 times then start. HELP? So annoying...

  8. Mine JUST started doing this 2 days ago, I have no idea why. Replaced the CHTS from my other 83 N/A motor (I have an 83 Turbo in the car) which I don't know if you can do, and no luck so far. Runs VERY rich, and sputters and backfires a lot. Used to run perfect. I don't know what to do at this point. I read somewhere that it might be the O2 sensor or the connection to the ECU from the CHTS. Have you tried that?

  11. Yep, voltage seems correct for everything too, we were running through this diagnostic manual and everything pertaining to ignition is checking out fine. We have no idea what it is.
  12. From what I can tell, yes it's properly grounded, and my coil is from a turbo. He have several coils and they all check out fine (We have a blaster II also) If I had to guess it would be a ground whether it be to the ECU or the coil. This is driving me nuts.
  13. Hey guys, we're really close but for some reason can't get the spark at the right time. We have fuel and injector pulsing, and the LED light on the ECU is on except while cranking (I think it's supposed to blink while cranking?) We're not far off and we need some help. I'm not sure what this is. WE have voltage to the coil and everything, just no spark. Help. Thanks, Jordan
  14. Well Guys, I'm considering throwing in the towel on this one, a 83 N/A to 83 turbo swap. Can't get it running and I need to gauge how much I can get for it, because I just need a running vehicle now. I have fuel and no spark, it's a wiring issue. I don't have that much experience, I figured I could handle it. I have no idea. this has been an absolute swap from hell and I want it out of my sight. For what I think we're one wire away, and I can't take it anymore... Rebuilt body (painted flat black) very little surface rust, 5 speed, solid frame rails installed in 2007, new floor pans, carpet, dodge stealth seats etc. leaks a tiny bit around passenger t top, bazooka tube sub, aftermarket stereo with ipod input, AC (did) work fine. 102,000 total miles, 20,000 since I've had it. Ran great before I wanted to upgrade, still have the old motor and all of the parts. Clean title, inspected until december of this year. New brakes, but it will need new tires within the next few months. How much could I get for it with two motors, good tranny, an extra dash, and a couple boxes of extra parts? I hate to see this thing go because it was my first car and I built it with my dad, but I can't stand it. If anyone's good at wiring it'd be a steal. Jordan
  15. My swap didn't come with a coil or ignitor. That was the only thing I was missing. I have no @#$%ing idea whats going on, one thing will work and the other will fail and vice versa. I'm so pissed I'm ready to burn it, I've spent hours and weeks with this thing not working.
  16. I'm not quite sure I understand that, but I have the signal wire and stuff hooked correctly and i have spark. The injectors aren't pulsing, I'm not sure if it's getting a signal from the distributor or the relays by the battery. This is driving me insane. I guess I should say that my HEI is stand alone from the distributor. There are no wires hooked from the distributor to the HEI besides a ground wire.

  19. The nightmare is becoming less of a nightmare, We're getting there slowly but surely. So we have spark now, and the car will run if we dump a little fuel down the intake. So now it's a matter of fuel delivery. The fuel pump IS working, but for some reason the injectors aren't firing properly. They are getting constant power, even when the key if off. This shouldn't be possible. I checked the wires on the plug into the ecu. They are getting constant power also. I have no idea what to do. This is a 83 NA to 83 Turbo swap. We have wiring schematics the size of the car LOL (pops' eyesight or lack of...) and we're getting power to the necessary wires (at least we think we are.) the timing is correct and it is sparking. these damn injectors are pissing me off :| Thanks Jordan
  20. We're currently in the garage with the laptop lol hate to sound like a dumbass but what exactly are the CAS wires? We're currently working on wiring the wire from the HEI to the ecu. so do those wires on the distributor continue to send the signal to the ECU without any additional wiring?
  21. I have everything, the harness and ECU and such, we just don't know what's going wrong. We don't know how the distributor is getting its signal from the HEI module, which probably equals no spark lol
  22. Hey guys, currently working on a 83 na to 83 turbo 280zx swap, and I'm having a real tough time with the wiring. The motor is turning over and getting fuel, we just can't get a spark We switched to the HEI module, and there are 4 wires from the bottom of the turbo distributor that I have no idea what to do with. can anyone tell me what they are and what they hook to? obviously one of them is a ground, and I think there is a red, green, and white. They don't show up in any diagrams and I really need help. Thanks, Jordan
  23. Hey guys, I'm looking for a turbo ignitor! My motor is turning over, getting fuel, but no spark. From what I can tell I do not have an ignitor ( I'm not sure why) and I'm using the N/A coil. Thanks, Jordan
  24. currently an NA coil, How much would a turbo one run me? the fuel pump relay isn't hooked up, my dad just thumb tied the two wires getting power together to see if we could get it running. It's all down to a few wires..
