  1. Hey Phillip my name is Patrick we met at the dyno day. When it comes time to start selling parts let me know I got money I might need that haltech and I know there are a couple things I would like off your motor like the lone wolf :)

P.s- I decided last night that I am going to completely redo my 71 series 1 and put an rb26dett in it. Its originally the motor I wanted in my 73 datsun but since I have two I decided to leave my white car alone.

I don't think u have seen any of my cars as most people haven't so here ya go!

  2. My solenoid is going out on my starter and after looking at what a new solenoid costs I think it will just be cheaper and more efficient to just get a whole new starter. I just don't know which one to go with. Will the Ultima one from O'reilys suffice my application, or should I get one of the big GM reduction ones from the datsun store?

    I am running a rebuilt L28et in a 73 240 I will post full specs if needed.

  4. Someone told me once that if a Z will run and drive for 30min on the highway/street it will make it cross country.

I recently bought an all original series one and drove it back from Kansas. I brought my truck and a friend just in case I needed to trailer it but like Blu said after I was about 30-40 miles down the road I didn't even think about it. Had an absolute BLAST coming back with that Z and it went 500 miles without a problem.

  5. Oh I see haha. Never seen that piece before. Haha I hate a/c systems, I never use the damn things.

I plan on taking the heater and a/c all out. None of my vehicles have a/c I just roll the windows down, and I really don't need a heater. I plan on putting heated seats in the series 1 its gonna be my daily driver when its done.

  6. The dash will cost me $975, I thought of using Just Dashes but these guys were a little cheaper vs. the $1500 that Just Dashes quoted me and do the same quality work. Hope this helps.

Ya thats sounds alot more reasonable than what just dashes quoted me as well. I won't need it done for a few months but im trying to get an idea of how much my project is gonna run me. Trying to plan out for it instead of jumping in and not keeping track of my spending. I'd like to keep the total bill under 15k, considering what I bought the car for should be fairly easy. Thanks a ton for the info and keep up the good work on the car! I can't wait to see it when its done.

I just noticed your in Houston, maybe I will get to see this car in person when its done! :)

  7. I keep taking pics of stuff and checking everything out on the car. I think someone did a partial resto on this car 10-15 years ago. It could be the original headliner but it sure is pretty. The seats have been recovered as well and already show signs of wear. Floor is solid although the PO said he did something with that. Ill probably have to cut out what he did and replace the floor pans. Most of everything is just surface rust cause im pretty sure it stayed sitting outside for 5-6 years. Guy I got it from has a huge shop with like 5 z's in it. Mine was sitting right next to a blown 350 260z. The guy seemed knowledgeable about Z's but he never told me it was a series 1. He just told me the older z's had a few different things that the newer 240's didn't. Don't know if he knew or not.

First thing I gotta do is buy an ebay radiator the original one has a hole in it. Its not bad but still makes you smell coolant every once in awhile. Also need a hood, I think I want to get a 280 one with vents or just get one louvered.

    More pics!

  8. I saw this series 1 in Kansas and had to have it. I was trying to buy a 280 but it seemed everyone I went to buy had just sold the day before. I recently bought a 73 240z l28et and since then I have been wanting another one for an n/a car. There was a 280 in santone I missed by 1 day that was beautful. Then there was a 280 in plano I missed. When I saw this series 1 in kansas my head clicked and I was GONE! A high comp triple carb series 1 240 sounded better than the same in a 280 anyways. I plan on completely ripping the car down and rebuilding it over the next 5-6 years. I drove it back from Kansas and the car runs awesome. Carbs need a little adjust but I was cruising at speeds up to 70 mph and it was just as smooth as could be. Pipes sound good although I think there a little bit much. The car is all original minus the pipes and the 10 gal fuel cell. I have the original tank but its rusted and has pin holes. I like the fuel cell cause it only costs 30 dollars to fill it up with premium. I was getting about 200-220 miles off 7 gallons of gas (I didn't let it get too low). I figured I was probably getting about 23-24 mpg on the highway which is awesome to me. Im used to my big green truck filling up costs 80 dollars and I get like 14-15mpg in town and maybe 20 on the highway if im lucky. The price was right on the car and im excited to start on it. Im probably gonna drive it around for a few months and work out some bugs. By then my other 240 should be tuned up and ready to play and ill start ripping it down. I should be taking pics of my truck and posting even though its not a z. I have a 99 chevy silverado bought new in winter of 98 with 0 miles. Now it has 293k on the original 5.3 motor and still runs like new. Its been all over the united states and recently at 290k hauled a 8k pound load with my 73 240 and all the parts and extras that came with it. Pulling up some of the hills my rpm would bury itself into the 6k needle and scream like a banshee. I am not really a fan of one company or the other between dodge ford and chevy but this truck has proven itself to me more than I can count. Anyways ya im excited I have 2 z cars, now I just need to build a big shop to store everything. My house is ridiculous right now. Theres motors in the kitchen and a spare bedroom completely full of fenders doors glass rear hatch and boxes of s30 parts. I need to start selling all this stuff.

  9. I downloaded the latest version of tunerstudio on my laptop but when I plug it in it still says it needs to download drivers. I am about to just buy a new laptop just for the car. My ethernet port was ripped out by me or my niece and it doesn't work, and I don't have wireless net. Ill have the whole weekend to work on the car (weather permitting) so I hope I can get it to recognize everything and I can just run vea for awhile to where I can actually drive it to work or SOMEWHERE!

Also I drove at night and the headlights in the car are horrible. The PO installed some blue HID or something but they are not bright past 10 feet at all. Might just not be adjusted right but in any case I think they should be way brighter. He said he installed the relays for them and everything maybe wrong watt bulb in there or something? I have 2 extra sets of headlights so im not really worried about it I just liked the way they looked at night.

First pic kinda shows my headlights to give you an idea of what I got. Second one is eye candy of my buddies cars :)

  10. I took her out for a drive tonight. When the car gets up towards normal operating temp the valve cover gasket is leaking. Its a brand new gasket but I don't think it has any silicone or anything on it. Its just enough oil to burn and give a smell to where I don't want to drive it anymore. I hooked up my laptop to the MS and nothing happened. My laptop tried to install drivers for it and I just turned it back off cause theres no wireless outside to download anything. Pissing me off I can't drive it like I want to, I haven't even got to feel boost yet. Hopefully on the 12th when I go to the meet someone will help me. If not im about to just quit my job so I can work on it. I tried to quit a week ago and they gave me a promotion.

Also my fuel pressure gauge on my fuel rail is sitting at about 45 psi isn't that a little high? I know it sounds ridiculous how loud my a1000 fuel pump is, I can hardly hear the radio.

  11. Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I have read for awhile. I recently bought a 240z with a l28et in it with ms2 v3.0 It starts and idles fairly easy but is pig rich and then goes lean when u drive it. I want to tune it myself but don't have the current tune files. Will tunerstudio automatically detect my current settings once I get it to communicate with my laptop, or should I just restart using a base tune? I could try to get the files from the PO if he still has them. I am ready for this local club meet on the 12th I have alot of questions lol!
