Thats the first thing I've heard after I painted it. Its going to be a weekend car for me, so Im not too concerned. Im sure besides the color, the flares, mirrors, and wheels (when I get them, the RB-R's will get attention anyways. The Black paint was from The Kustom Shop. Its on the same page as the link I posted for the guns I used.

Its called a hotrod black. Not entirely flat but a little satin sheen. Its almost like a flattened single stage black.

No problem, I went with this kit because of the price, You get a lot of stuff with it and I purchased all my paint through them online. The paint was about 450-500$ I went with a bb/cc, not including my guns, sandpaper, tack rags, measuring cups, repspirator, building the booth... Its the little here and there stuff that addd up. Total spend was probably 1200 dollar area. If I were to do a colorchange in the future though it would pretty much be the cost of the paint since everything I bought came in large quantities.

Fender mirrors were on ebay. I got them for around 70ish bucks. They are all plastic and feel a little cheapy and for the money vs. finding actual JDM ones Im satisfied. They're the ones with the holes on the legs.

Thanks, tell you the truth my car was sitting in its body work primer stage forever, then I saw your car. It made me want to finish it. I got quotes for paint and some bodywork around 2500-5000$ area. Since Im low on funds I deceided to try it myself. I was going to go dark blue, but just like you I wanted to say it loud "with color" Great job on yours as well. Its a great feeling to not have fix anything for once but put back together.

This was my first time painting a car aside from primer. As far as the wetsanding, I started with 1000 grit. I used a bucket of water with a little dish soap and block sanded it till my peel was cut down, then moved to 1500 grit. I finished with 2000 grit by hand. Kinda scared to buff though, burning through. Then again I was scared to paint my own car too.

Just thought Id share my progress after reading a few of you guys finishing your paint too. It was a long process for me to get to this point. The longest was getting rid of my sunroof and prepwork. Its not perfect but good enough for me. I always find it fun and motivating to see other peoples progress. Kind of keeps me going to finish this thing. Hey Phil. Are you keeping the airdam color matched or black. Just got done painting mine as well. I was going to colormatch the bumper but looks like im going to be driving it ia bit.

Just ordered my paint. Went with 2 qts of base and 1 gallon of clear just to be safe. It was a difference of 25 bucks for 2qts vs. a gallon. Hopefully this weekend I can attempt my first full paint job.

Thanks, forgot to add that part. Im doing everything, Jams, Exterior and Underhood. no under carriage, or engine bay just exterior.

Just wondering for you guys that had painted your cars yourself. How much base coat was required for your Z. I was going to purchase a paint kit for BC /CC which included 1 Gallon of Base and 1 Gallon of Reducer. I can save money if I were to purchase it by the quart. I didnt want to buy 2 qts of base and 1 qt of reducer to come up short. Thanks for any responses. Im almost ready to spray after 3 years of it being different colors.

I already gave up. If its taking 7 months to get a picture. How long to get the product? I already welded the skin off a donor roof for my Anti-sunroof Z.

Ive got some tabco panels i just got but im going to get new fenders instead since i messed up on shaving my marker lights. theres about 2" missing from the top panel since i welded them on. They have the same curve and body line " under the datsun or 280z emblem would go" I paid 47 a panel plus shipping I d let them go for 50$ for both shipped if interested. *There is trimming of the panel required since its a stamped patch not a replacemant part. Example(metal is too long on the very bottom)

I got mine from MSA with the new rubber stock bushings for the back. s30
