  1. Yup, did that. The parts guy said that all the comuter told him was the part # and the price along with the color of the link, and the service guys didn't know crap. It's sad to say, but they knew less about my car than I did.
  2. Yeah, I searched but ALL of the fusible link threads are about either 240Z's or 280Z's. And I found that website link to the Atlantic Z Car Club (http://www.atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/fusiblelinks/index.html) which has which has fusible link colors & amp ratings, but I think these ratings were ony for Z's, not ZX's because they don't have any ratings for brown fusible links. Also, in this thread: http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?p=775792, Warren has a diagram of what color the wires are & what amp fuses should be used & they're different amps from the other website. The only thing about Warren's diagram is that I can't use it because it's for an '82 & my car is an '81 (You wouldn't think the wiring would be THAT much different but it TOTALLY is). I mean, if someone has a DC amp meter that can test their fusible links in their car it wouldn't take but 2 minutes (I don't have one). So again, if someone could PLEASE help me with this dilemma, I'd appreciate it. Thankx!
  3. Hey guys, I have an N/A '81 280ZX 2+2 and I gotta question. Does anyone know what the amp ratings are for the fusible links? I'm wanting to convert to using Maxi fuses, but I need to know amp draw in order to do that. There are 6 different wires & 3 different colors. 3 Green, 3 Brown, & 1 Black. Here's a diagram to show how they hook up to my car... Any help you could give, I would LOVE!!! Thankx!
  4. Hey guys, I have an '81 280ZX 2+2 and yesterday 1 of the fusible links went out. I've seen the threads about using Maxi Fuse Blocks to replace em, but can you use an AGU Fuse Holder like this... That holds fuses like this...? I only ask because I can't find a Maxi fuse block in town that holds 4 fuses. I can only find the ones that hold 2. And I can't wait to get 1 off of the internet cuz the Z's my main form of transportation. Also, can ANYONE tell me what the amps are for the fusible links on my car? I know that the can differ from year to year and model to model, but even Nissan couldn't tell me. There are 3 Browns (1 for the Ignition Switch, 1 for the Headlight Circuit, & 1 For the EFI Circuit), 1 Green (The 2nd EFI Circuit), & 1 Black (Power supply to the fuse box). Anywho, any help you guys can give would be GREATLY appreciated!!!
  5. Thankx, I thought so, but I just wanted to make sure before I went through the trouble of orderin them, takin out the old ones, and gettin brake fluid all over the place, just to find out I got the wrong size. Thank a lot!!!
  6. I have an '81 2+2 and I'm wanting to get some Russell Speed bleeders for the rear brakes and I need to know to size of the stock bleeders. I ask because Russell Performance has the thread being 10mm x 1.0 & the overall length being 33mm. Well Summit Racing has the thread beung the same size, but the overall length being 35mm. Can you guys help? Thankx a lot!!!
  7. Sweet. Thanks for the info, I'll give em a try.
  8. I'm in serious need of some new rotors so I startin to look online. Well, I saw the cross-drilled & slotted rotors that Motorsport sells here: http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/CTGY/PBC06 Have any of you heard anything about these rotors? Any info you could gimme would be great.
  9. Yeah, it's not that I'm gonna go much faster than that all the time, though sometimes on the highway (especially here in AZ), the flow of traffic can be up to 90. It's just that I'm one of those guys who would like to have the option if I wanna use it. Also, the previous owner of my car installed a Heads Up Display on it, which registers speeds greater than 85mph, so I don't really even use my speedo anymore.
  10. So I have an N/A '81 280ZX 2+2 and when I set my cruise on it, it won't set above 83 mph. Does anyone know if there's a way to remove (or somehow bypass) the speed govern on the cruise? Thankx
  11. I wanna remove my cat and replace it with a pipe I bought that is supposed to be used with a pacesetter exhaust system. It comes with flanges attached to it so you can bolt it in without any sort of welding or other modification. The exhaust pipe going into the cat is 1 3/4 inches (I believe), and the pipe comin out of it is 2 1/2 inches. Well, the pipe I bought (pictured above) is a straight 2 inch tube, and I was wondering if I can bolt it on as is, or if I'll need to have a pipe custom made to fit into the flanges. Thankx
  12. Sounds good. Thankx for the help guys!!!
  13. Yeah, I'm lookin for an easy install kind of situation. If I get electrical ones, can I plug 'em right into the stock dash wiring harness once I find the right wires for the right gauges?
  14. Okay, I know this is probably a stupid question, but I just wanna make sure before I buy some. I wanna get aftermarket Oil Pressure, Volt, Water Temp., and Fuel gauges for my '81 N/A 2+2, but I need to know if I need mechanical or electrical ones. Thankx.
  15. Sweet. I thought that was all I had to do, but I just wanted to make sure. Thankx for the help. I'll keep everyone aprised of the situation.
  16. Okay guys, so I go the car running, ignition timing set, and new Taylor wires put in. I gotta question about it being 180 out though. Right now the #1 cylinder is where the #6 usually is. If I wanted to fix it to where it's supposed to be, can I rotate the drive spindle 180 degrees? Or would that be bad. Thankx
  17. It's an EFI system, and after he got the car running, my mechanic said that it was doing exactly what you were talkin about...losing about 1 PSI a minute or so.
  18. I was concerned about that too, so I called a mechanic shop in Tucson, AZ that specializes in Z cars. They said that the fuel pressure should stay around 2 or 3 psi when the car's off. So I looked closer at the pressure gauge and it does register that. It was just a little hard to see 'cause it's a 100 psi gauge.
  19. So I talked to my mechanic after he had the car for a full day an' you were right BillZ260, it was 180 out. But he got it running, an' it should be ready for me to pick up on Monday! I'll post picks next week sometime. Again, thankx for the help guys!
  20. Damn, if it's not one thing it's another. I'll have my mechanic take a look at it and I'll keep you all updated. Thankx for all the help. You guys ROCK!!!
  21. Okay, so I told you guys that I have an aftermarket fuel rail and Fuel Pressure Reg. on the car. Well, the pressure gauge that I have on it registers pressure when I'm trying to start the car, but not when its off. Is it supposed to show pressure in the lines at all times? If so, then maybe it's the fuel.
  22. No that's what I meant to say. The valve cover was off of it, and I took out the injector from #1. I turned the crankover till I saw the piston at the top of the cylinder, then I checked the cam to make sure that both lobes were up, then I looked at the spindle. All of which were a-okay.
  23. I checked my old engine I had in the car to see where the drive spindle that connects to the bottom of the dizzy was positioned, and it's identical to where it is in the new engine. So, I'm thinkin it's somethng else. I'll just have to go through all of the ignition electronics and see if I can figure it out.
