  1. single coil, going high inverted is good. Set up ignition capture to falling edge. Actually I forgot to ask, what code are you running? I assume it was loaded up by diyautotune right? If so there will be a label on the ecu with the code. Could you list it please? different codes have different settings. I can help you set up a good base map if I know the code you are using. And BTW 22 is super lean and 8-13 is super-to-kinda rich. Think of the afr gauge as just the number of air molecules. The larger the number the more air you have. Im sure you know that you need to be richer than at least 14-1 at idle and cruise and even richer in boost for the L. Sorry for the small quarrel with the other guy btw. I couldnt help myself.

  2. For sure fellas it would be cheaper to modify what I have. Totally agree. Its just a thought that I have for the near future. the reason I brought up those two specific engines is they are plentiful in the junkyards and Im pretty sure I can install either one for under $1000. Im definitely not looking for 4 digit hp numbers in a z car thats for sure. Thanks for your inputs.

  3. I did a mustang II steering rack install in my 260z 2+2. If your interested I can post pics, dimensions, etc...

Yes please. I would love that. Im looking to do this soon. Ive narrowed it down to a miata rack or a subie rack only because guys have posted the needed parts. I would consider the mustang rac kalso if its been straightened out.

  4. OK,

Where the switch is at in the ebay pic of the dash is added. Factory came with what you see in the pic minus the owner installed switch. Also mine didnt have the fuel light. The two interior pieces came stock from the factory on 280zs. I dont have those on my early model 260z. I have a radio I just took out of my early model 260z. PM me if you are interested in it. I dont want it.

  5. Hello,

Ive been hanging out on hybrid z for a little while, mostly on the megasquirt forums but now that my l28et swap is done I dont like it. Its ok I guess but I want something more. As I went to buy a Z32 tranny from a guy on craigslist he showed me something pretty cool and underrated. A turbocharged 5 speed swapped Q45. Needless to say I found the motor amazing. I have been reading up on sbc options as well and I have narrowed my research down to two motors. An LT1 or a VH45. I can get both for the same price but for the vh I would need a T/B and injectors as well as an adapter for the z32 trans( I think I can make one and I already have the trans)and for the LT1 I would just need a trans but good ones are expensive. Im also not opposed to putting in an auto but would prefer a manual. Well what do you guys think? I can fab most everything 'cept the driveshaft so just want to compare american apples to japanese apples.

  6. Pin 24 gets connected to the g/b wire on the dizzy, pin 26 is for throttle position sensor voltage reference. Just a friendly hint that most people dont know about, ground the dizzy to the engine, there is a spade connector on the dizzy.

  7. Does anyone know how to wire in the 83 distributor to the megasquirt? Im not 100% on what wire goes where. Pen 24 and 26 go to the distributor, where? i dont know... I have the v3

    0 megasquirt.

Stock injectors are low impedance, but to make sure check them with a multimeter. 3 or less is low and for high I i wanna say around 10-14 but anything above 6 for sure is high impedence. For the 82-83 dizzy follow this,

It doesnt mention that you need a resistor across some wires so heres a pic.

Just ignore the hei stuff in the pic and use direct coil control. What I Did for the resistor was just jumped it across the 12v for the dizzy itself and the G/B wire for the signal (pin 24 I think, doublecheck)

    Good luck.

  8. How did you verify weak ground? Did you check voltage on the positive side? (Im sure you did) If its not the ecu then start checking other ground sources, Battery cable, Chassis grounds, Engine grounds. I hate chasing grounds. Does anything else act up in the car? Radio, Lights, Anything? I would start with checking the injector wires first .Just keep in mind that when you do an ohm test, even though it has low resistance the wire could still be bad. (cant handle amp load because of fraying and such. good luck. Your motor wouldnt be a vh45 would it?

  9. Yes I was saying the turbo version came with the t-5, thanks newzed for noticing, and also to rejracer the pic he has is indeed an earlier tranny and not the 81-83 as you said. Notice how there is only one rabbit ear on the rear by the shifter? It doesnt matter what year it is unless you care about ratios.

  10. Pin 36, the ignition outpun. Does that go the the positive on the coil?

Pin thirty six would go to the coil negative if using direct coil control. The positive of the coil would get wired up to the fuel pump relay.

  11. I bought my dizzy shaft from a member here. I have had nothing but good dealings with the people here regarding purchased items. I use the DIY wheel and it works great and I'm not even using it for sequential yet.

  12. Okay so, how do i connect four wires to the six injectors? I know its a bank injection system but how exactly do i get power or a signal to each injector? Im just really confused, ive seen one to many diagrams...

Youve all been a great help btw. I wouldnt have gotten this far without hybridz.

Its really confusing at first but the more you read and the more you think about it at night the easier it becomes to understand. OK, so heres how you connect 4 wires to 6 injectors, pins 32 and 33 are to injector bank #1 and 34 and 35 are for bank 2. On the diy harness (and in the megamanual wiring scematic) pins 32 and 33 are tied together which becomes one wire. this one wire that is actually 32/33 together gets wired to 3 injectors. the same goes for 34/35 and the other three injectors. You have now connected the ground wires to the injectors. The other wires on your injectors get wired to a 12v source via the main relay. It doesnt matter which wire you hook up to pins 32/33 and 34/35 and power as injectors are not polarized. If you have anymore questions feel free to ask. The wiring scematic is your best friend in this.

  13. I think the calibration data numbers to use the cylinder head temp sensor, as the coolant temp is in the Megasquirt forum also. Might be the same cal data as the coolant temp sensor.

Im gonna double check that sometime. I didnt know that but I have one of each on hand.
