  1. Go to pages 126 and 127 of the current Summit catalog and you'll find both the factory ZZ572 and the Merlin engines... buy them now and get to work !!
  2. A big block Chevy will fit .. you can get way more than 500 cubes with a new crate motor.. Try the ZZ502 or ZZ572... Summitt has them -- Go for it !!
  3. Rooster --- The Summit # is MRG-1480 It's called a Mr. Gasket EasyFlow 14" ... As I mentioned before, if you have an electric choke on your Edelbrock (or earlier Carter) carb, AND you're using a dropped base, you need to "dimple" the area of the base around the electric choke. I used a ball peen hammer and it worked just fine. You should be using a "banjo" type fuel fitting on the carb to avoid any clearance issues with the dropped base. Summit also sells a nice metal line with fitting that clears nicely. # SUM-G1532 -- Hope this helps
  4. I own a factory Scarab (VIN# 155) not a kit but one built and sold as a new car by Scarab. I currently have Sanderson Block hugger headers on the car -- They fit --
  5. The Mr. Gasket 14" chrome air cleaner is identical to the air cleaner used on Scarabs. "Factory" Scarabs used an Edelbrock Torker intake with a Carter 9625 AFB.. Your intake should be about the same height (maybe a bit shorter) and the Edelbrock carb is the Carter AFB in new tooling. You might have to find a replacement air filter to get max height above the carb without hitting the inside of the hood. I think the Mr. Gasket comes with a 2"or 3"filter. I used about a 2.5"filter. See picturtes. But this will clear everything ... Oh, BTW, if you use the dropped base AND you have an electric choke on your carb, a little "dimpling" will be required.
  6. I am currently using Sanderson Block Hugger headers on my Scarab. They clear just fine. On the drivers side you have to line up the flanges to avoid hitting the frame but they'll fit OK and do not interfere with anything. I'm not sure you can't use any block hugger header... The only reason I'm using the Sanderson's is that they clear the angle plug heads on my Scarab. You have straight plug heads that can use "normal" block hugger headers. The outer tubes on the Sanderson's are lapped over the inner tubes--- other "shorty" and block hugger headers are the opposite. BTW, I have an original set of Scarab (Hooker) headers that will be going on during the next resto.
  7. Look on eBay they're readily available. And not expensive.
  8. Paul: First, do you have a real VIN # scarab or a kit. Second... I know of a Scarab kit that is using the JTR mounts for installing the T5 in place of the Super T-10. If you go that route, PM me with parts list you are replacing. thanks Craig
