  1. I've been doing the best I can on FB to try and encourage people the return to the forums to no avail. The general attitude is, and I quote, "too cumbersome".  People would rather have the wrong answer in a hurry than the right answer that takes a little work. There are so many FB groups for the S30 that there is no way to get any kind of quality answers.  I don't know how many times I could of contributed to someones question but didn't because I knew the answer was easily found on one of the three forums.

You are starting to see that AI is burrowing its way into the FB groups as well. Sad times these are.

All I’ve read in my adventure is that there is no way to run ITBS with speed density correctly

I agree and I brought that up with him. He had a ton of ITB experience with Megasquirt so I deferred to his expertise. The only complaint I have is when I'm low speed lugging through my neighborhood it really starts lugging. Other than that it runs great as far as I'm concerned. I tend to have my foot in it most of the time though. DOHC and ITBs under load makes for some sweet music :)

Don't worry PAMS is already testing a real DOHC head on cars and you will actually be able to buy it. I expect prices to be better and unlike this head it will install without a headache and an engineering team.

I have two heads in stock as I type this so the head can actually be purchased. I can't help that you can't afford it.

That's a feature not a bug. For the very beginning my goal was to provide the components so that talented engine builders could make the decisions on the types of components they wanted to use.

Based on what I've seen and taking the pricing of the relatively simple L6 head as the baseline I highly doubt it.

I'm not really sure what I did to put a burr under your saddle but you remind me of the guy that starts a fight in the line to get into the club because he can't afford the cover charge.  Just get out of line and go somewhere else.

Are you running the ITB or Alpha N ?

My tuner has me setup with speed density and a separate idle table. All in all it does fine but the reality is until I build my stroker I have way too much induction for the displacement.

I’m so tired of the FB shit

I commented on a post about scammer groups and said that if we were still on forums there would be better control of this. Since there are 9 bazillion S30 groups it hardly got seen and the one comment was "forums are too cumbersome"

I go there because that's where the customers are but I'll be dammed if I'm going to answer stuff that I know for a fact has been documented in detail on one of the three forums.  The answer to every question I see should be "google it" :)

Are you still having fuel tank backpressure issues?

On the stock tank? Yes. I haven't started the poly tank install yet. I'm convinced Nissan added the vent on the left side of the tank to deal with the situation. There is no other reason for it to be there. You have to be in just the right climate and usage for it to be a problem. Cool morning fill up, and then parked in the sun all day. There is a real potential to form a vapor bubble there and it expands at a greater rate than liquid. Since I have that plugged the vapors path to release is to force all of the gas that is in the upper section of the tank out if it can. A proper check valve system in the vent line to atmosphere would probably solve it but I'm not crazy about having a pressurized tank.

I've just finished testing some polyurethane tubing submerged in gasoline for a few weeks with no sign of degradation. I have a plan to use that as an in-tank vent line. I'll post pictures when I finish it. I also ordered a Tanks Inc. 6" backing ring and I'm going to machine my own custom top plate to provide the inlets and outlets I want.

No, scanner, I want one but not yet.  Just did all the suspension and reverse engineering old school with calipers just measuring.  It's all pretty simple stuff

I have a get down white light scanner and a lot of times unless it has some really complicated contours or boss locations it ends up being faster to do it either with calipers or I'll mount it up in the mill and probe out the needed data.

But when I do need it I'm super glad I have it.

I tried to talk him into a cost effective DOHC head, but I don't think that is their plan.

The most economical way forward in my opinion would be a custom casting that utilized RB components with custom timing sprockets. But even then you would have to put up a pretty large amount of cash.
