  1. Added my s130 Noted it is now running a v8
  2. I don't think the mechanical pump is blown. The fuel doesn't make it that far! I will bypass the stock pump and post my results. Thanks!
  3. Sorry about the title, just thought I would make it easier for people searching who may have the same problem. Here it goes! I've successfully started the engine. The only problem: it won't stay running, because there is no fuel! The stock ZX fuel pump is still in use. When I turn the ignition, I can hear the pump humming. This was not always so, but that problem was fixed. When it began working, I heard fuel leaking underneath the car. I replaced a fuel line, and the leak stopped. Now one would expect that the pump would now prime the fuel line, and I would have fuel to my carb! This is not so! I've been working on the car all day, and I'm exhausted. Anyone want to throw some ideas out there? And yes, there is gas in the tank PS/ A mechanical pump is also being used, should I just bypass the pump?
  4. I purchased the s130 mounts as well, very easy to install!
  5. Very excited! As soon as my battery has a quick charge, I should be able to start the car! Not 100% yet, but will be good enough to record and post up!
  6. If you have a little bit of extra money, why don't you use you brothers block to build up, and find a running engine for cheap?
  7. Trans X-member is bolted in, drive shaft needs to be cut to length, gear reduction starter, alternator wiring, exhaust, fuel and coolant plumbing are all that's left! Oh, and throttle linkage! So excite!
  8. Whats up everyone? Got some pics to share with you, as well as some questions about some wiring! So my 83 ZX has been through a lot these past few years. Initially I swapped in a T3/T4 E , along with a few other goodies, and was going the megasquirt route. Eventually lost interest, and decided to drop in a 350. I purchased two long blocks from a guy who worked on base, and put new gaskets on the cleaner one. I got deployed shortly after that, and when I got home, I found a good deal on a decent setup. GM crate motor Trick Flow 23 degree aluminum heads Scorpion 1.5 anodized roller rockers Edelbrock performer RPM intake Holley 3310 vacuum carb 750cfm Comp Cams 268XE cam/lifters MSD pro billet distributor MSD 6AL box MSD plugwires Rebuilt TH350 and a Hughes 22-2500 stall converter. (pics are attached) First question is as follows, MSD 6AL , from looking at a couple wiring diagrams, there seem to be a couple different options for my IGN source. I think I'll go with the hot wire to the old IGN coil. Does this make sense to anyone other than me? haha. Secondly, Should it be a problem if I modify the original alternator harness to fit the GM alternator? It seems simple enough, and that is what I plan on doing. Finally, If you look at one of the pictures, you will see I am using an engine driven fan. There is not a lot of room , so I will not be using a shroud. Will a short distance between the radiator and the fan eliminate the need for a shroud? I know it would probably be better to have a shroud, but this vehicle is going to be used in the northeast, and it doesn't exactly get over 100 here Thanks for reading guys, any help would be awesome! This thing is almost done! Shawn
  9. Hows it going guys? I haven't posted in a while so I'll give you an update on my project. 350/TH350 Trick Flow 23 degree aluminum heads Scorpion 1.5 anodized roller rockers Edelbrock performer RPM intake Holley 3310 vacuum carb 750cfm Comp Cams 268XE cam/lifters JTR block huggers MSD pro billet distributor MSD 6AL box SS brake lines Engine is in and mounted, the trans crossmember is assembled, but I've yet to drill into the trans tunnel. The stock TH350 trans mount does not match up to what I was supplied with from JTR, I'm going to drill so that the two will mate up. After thats done I will be able to measure the correct driveshaft length. Now onto the part of the project I am tackling currently. The MSD 6AL needs a switched 12v source. What are you other MSD 280zx swappers using for this? I've relocated my battery to the rear, so my box is located on the firewall where the battery once was. Also, pictures of your setups would be great, and if possible, may I see your starter wiring? I'm using the wire from the stock datsun starter, but it just doesn't seem to want to crank! I'm currently searching the archives, but I'm rushing and trying to get this done for the West Coast Z Nationals! Any input or comments will be appreciated, thanks guys!
