  1. That's so true on the RA-1. The tread lasts so long they will basically heat cycle out before you run out of tread. Excellent DOT r-compound to learn on and great bang for the buck.
  2. Actually, I've had the very opposite experience with the 215's. I, along with most people I know that have run these tires, feel the 615's handle the heat better. They will overheat, as you stated, but I feel the 615's are more forgiving regarding heat. The 215's have a much stiffer sidewall, and are heavier because of it, but they have a better turn-in response. I have also run a shaved Kuhmo MX and the 615's are a better tire. You also might check out the Bridgestone RE-01R, supposedly a very sticky street tire. Just became available in a size that I can use on my autocross car and I'm going to try it this weekend. My experience with these are on a STS Civic for the past 3 years. I'm now just starting to build an XP 240z.
  3. I'm not sure about your CV issue but Metric class 8.8 is equal to SAE grade 5. Metric 10.9 is equal to SAE 8. There is also a Metric 12.9 that SAE has no equivalent. Checkout the following reference from Elgin Fastners: http://www.elginfasteners.com/metric.htm
  4. Good start, you'll get better with practice. You might already be familar with him but you should check out Mike Lavallee's website: http://www.killerpaint.com/index.html He's been on quite a few magazines and tv shows with his incredible flames. He also has some instructional dvds available on his website and some other places online.
  5. Look for a local hot rod or street rod shop. That will probably be your best chance on finding a place that has the right equipment.
  6. First post on Hybridz and might as well bring one back from the dead. For those of you who have used a shrinking disc, have you ever tried one of the smaller discs like this 4 1/2": http://cgi.ebay.com/4-1-2-Shrinking-disc-Kit-sunchaser-english-wheel_W0QQitemZ220118752013QQihZ012QQcategoryZ633QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Would this small of a disc be effective? I'm very comfortable with body work and have painted several cars but have never tried one of these before.
