  1. Okay ill see if i can post my msq as soon as i get home The middle pin of bib373 to coil neg? should i get the same ohm rating of 330?
  2. But I had no spark before it started smoking and i also tried JS10 and D14. I had to have had something wired up wrong or some setting in TS wrong, But i was pretty sure the wiring was correct. One more thing, where can i find my MSQ? Is it on the MS ECU or in TS? Thanks you guys
  3. No, i never got it figured out. I pulled it all out and im just going to start over and really take my time. A small section of the board near Q16 got burnt up but i believe its still functional. Just a refresher. The car is a 78 280 and the motor is an L28ET out of an 81. The car ran extreamly rough when i got it with the stock efi sistem. I thought it was a bad MAF or the fact that it had no O2 sensor on the down pipe. I got a new O2 and it still ran the same. Never got a new MAF i just decided that megasquirt would be eaiser in the long run and would work better also. Anyway, While i was trying to redo some of the poor wiring connections is when i did something that caused me to lose spark. I did nothing but put proper wire connectors on in lue of the tape and twist method used by whoever did the swap. So i had no spark before the Megasquirt swap and no spark after.
  4. Thanks z-ya. i found some good pistons on ebay. What do you mean about timing management? like adjustable cam gear? is the distributor adjustable?
  5. Wow thanks for the heads up, i was going to buy from him. Also thanks for the parts numbers, very helpful. Ordering pistons today from clarks,. I just want to make sure im getting the right ones because the part numbers dont match but they say they will work with my engine (l28 f54). Part number is RY2700-20, Im guess ing those are 20+. I was hopping to get standard bore which it looks like they dont cary. They do have very good prices though, compared to everyone else.
  6. Awesome, thanks you guys so much. ive been trying to put together a build list just like that one. Now ill start collectiong the parts i need. Datsunpartsllc.com has some ITM pistons in standard bore size, these are pretty good parts right? Once again, Thanks
  7. I want to keep it as streetable as possable so i want to keep the compression around 9.0:1. so i can run pump gas. So new valves, springs, a well suited cam, and maybe shave the head? how much can i get away with or should i even worry about it? Are the stock 280 valves good for replacements?
  8. E31 i ment, sorry was in a hurry before class. I was hopping someone would say stick with the p90, a lot less fuss trying to find an e31. this will be my first rebuld ever so i hpe it goes smoothly. The L series seems like a fairly simple one to start with. So spend some money on the head and cam, got it.
  9. Hello, Im starting my l28 buld in a few weeks on a motor that i got for free. F54 block and p90 head. it is a turbo motor but i want to go old school and go back with carbs. I want to get close to 200hp and i want to use either dual webers or the stock su carbs. I know i need new flat top pistons, main bearing, rod bearings, maybe e33 head (i heard they have a better quench area). what else should i need. Thanks
  10. No one? Id love to get this thig running
  11. Thats what ive been thinking about doing. The only thing is the CAS, my 81t motor as you know has the CAS on the crank pully and i didnt know if the 82-83 ECU would accept the signals from the 81 CAS. I guess i could change the distributor if i had to.
  12. How can i use and 82-83 EFI harness with an 81t ecu? The 82-83 EFI harness doesnt have the plug for the fuel injector resistors. Ive heard you can splice some in does anyone know how to do this?
  13. Alright, thanks. Are there any write ups on how to go about splicing in the resistors? Well i put the megasquirt on the back burner untill i can learn more about it. I just want to get the car sorted out before i try the megasquirt again.
  14. I need an 81 l28et EFI harness, so if you have one and want to make a few bucks let me know Thanks, Taylor.
  15. [/img] Okay, one more questiong not worth starting a new topic. What is supposed to go in this hole? .
  16. Ive been wondering, are there any differences in the l28et piston and the l28e piston other than the et being dished? Maybe wrist pin size or diameter at all?
  17. Well something got fried. Right where it says IGBT on the back and q16 on thr front. Im not sure why it happened
  18. And here is the wiring diagram i used to wire in my megasquirt This is how the distributor is wired. Also Where it calls for 12v from the fuel pump relay, there are two wires that supply 12v on the fuel pump relay but one is switched and the other is constant. Ive been using thte switched one to supply power to the +coil and injectors, not sure if thats the right one. The black/white wire on the distributor is supplied with 12v through a 5 amp fuse. The green/black wire on the distributor is supplied with 12v through a 1k 1/4 watt resistor, pin 24 is also connected to the gree/black wire. The black is grounded. does this seem right or wrong?
  19. To be honest im not either lol. I suppose ill give them a call, thanks
  20. Okay I have some jumpers Iac2b-js3 Iac2a-js2 Iac1b-js1 Iac1a-js0 Js6-spr1 There are a few more but didn't have numbers or letters to identify them by
  21. So maybe there is a ground that isnt sufficient, like on the distributor or megasquirt? If thats the case it would explain how it will try to start every now and again.
  22. My best guess is that megasquirt isnt sending a signal to the coil so its not ever discharging.
  23. Alright there is 12v to the coil, the engine is perfectly in time, T/S shows 215-220 rpm while cranking but when i used a timing light to confirm spark... nothing, not even anything from the coil to the distributor. The coil is brand new. I even tested it and its fine. 12v to the positive and pin 36 to the negative. I just dont get how the coil can have 12v to it and have nothing come out of it.
