  1. found the relay board to be bad apparently I overlooked it. thanks for all the help guys.
  2. So I bought a ms1 v3.0 from a member on here about a year ago and i finally got around to hooking it up a couple months back. Now the problem, Everything seems ok when the controller is hooked up to jimstim.(pin 36 jumped ign light number 1,set for hall sensor.) I have the whole setup wired according to msextra and diyautotune to drive a signal coil off a nissan optical dizzy. megatune (along with tunerstudios) is reading engine speed(rpms) just fine i have 256 rpms during cranking which seems about right. I am running a completely stock l28et and of coarse a relay board pre-assembled from diyautotune its a 83 turbo motor once again, its wired just like diyautotune describes. I am at a loss here and have no idea what to try. as soon as I can figure out how to export my tune on here i will. please guys I'm all outta ideas. Ive used the search button, Ive read the manuals I guess if its there my reading comprehension skills suck. (but what do you really expect out of a nineteen year old?)
  3. Thanks guys. Sorry about the grammer and what not, like I state I was exhausted.
  4. Ok. I know this is probably a really dumb question but, here it goes. So for some background my turbo started going out on me so i was looking into other options. Well anyways my buddy gave me his mitshi td06 of his stock sysclone now that he has a 60-1. well everythings going great except i can't figure out how to get a turbo oil drain on it. the stock footprint is too big and the one from the my stock tb03 oil feed is the right size to bolt it under. This would present two problems to me. one. i would have to find a 12mm 1.75 tread pitch which every auto/hardware store just doesn't seem to have plus if they do its a 3/8 barbbed fitting which I'm pretty sure is too small. If i find one that is treaded i have the problem of finding one that i can connect to the oil pan because if i remember right there's a barbbed fitting coming out of it. So, anyone wanna take a wack at it? I'm just so exhausted I don't know what to do.
  5. I fell absolutely ridiculous right about now. The brown and green wires powering the ecu were not getting juice. Now all i have to figure out is how to turn the idle speed down a notch or two (car came with a auto and swapped to five speed). any thoughts?
  6. as far I know, the ecu isn't turning on correct me if I'm wrong but isn't that what the led is for? well along with some diagnostic codes.
  7. I own a 77 and i am currently trying to wire up my l28et wiring harness from the 82 donor. I've looked at the swap threads, and i just can't figure it out. So here's the problem, I'm trying to use the stock efi to dash harness plug that my old efi originally used because of convince. After i had everything hooked up as the swap thread states i turned the ignition key and nothing. I've look at the ecu and the little green light isn't on or blinking. I went back and checked all my wiring to two different threads and a webpage about the swap (not youdamnfool) and now I'm more lost than ever. I've done everything according to the way it is specified (b/w coming of ignitor to 12+, black to ground, etc.) one thing i did not hook up was the fuel pump because i have it ran straight from the battery through a kill switch, could that be my problem? I think I might just not be getting any power does anyone what i should be looking for?
  8. So I have a 77 280z with an auto well I'm about halfway through a turbo swap and wondering if the original 77 driveshaft well work with the auto off of the 280zx turbo? maybe length problems? trans output shaft differences? i dont wanna pull the engine just yet till i know for sure.
  9. Thanks for the advice guys. I have found that the only problem was the firing order on the distibutor. I had to move it one over(ones now five four is now one). sorry im still kinda wondering what that plate does. does it control when the vacuum advance comes in? or possibly how much advance?
  10. so i have a 77 280z that came stock with an auto. lucky i got a 83 zx with a 5 speed and swapped it. I am currently running off all the stock equipment from the 77. Weel anyways, i had it running like a charm the other day up to about 4 grand and then thin greyish white smoke just pores out the header ( rest of the exhaust hasent been hooked up yet). So i go sown to autozone and get a new rotor and cap. and the car doesnt fire. later on i found out it was the ecu wasnt plugged in . Well before i found that out i messed with this little thing in the dizzy under the reluctor called a contactor by the factory service manual. well on the plate its connected to, there are what looks to be timing marks on one side. my question is: What did i mess with? and what does it do? thanks a lot guys, albert
  11. i already have a clutch pedal assembly master cylinder and clutch line(all bolt in parts). i have a '83 donor car thats n/a that i was planning on taking out of zx and putting into the z for emissions and cool factor. anyone know if the 83 ecu would mount in the 77 stock position? btw, i've tried the search button but all i get is opinions, facts on putting a 5 speed (because all l28's are pretty much the same right?) from zx and putting into a z are pretty much non-excistent. all i really need to know is if i need a new driveshaft or not. thank you.
  12. yeah just a turbo jetta though all stock.
  13. what all would be involved in doing this? engine=/5 speed from a '83 zx wanna pull the r200 too. so this is a bolt in thing? i already have the clutch master cylinder btw. would the '77 auto trans cross member work with the 5 speed?
  14. will do. anyone know what i would need (as far as parts go) to switch the engine/man.trans outta the zx and put it into a auto 77 280z? would i need a custom driveshaft? also I read that the 77 comes with a r180 so would swapping out the r200 from the zx be bolt in?
  15. so the guy that was going to sell me the '83 280zx ended up just giving it to me. went to the guys house yesterday and was compression testing the engine before I bought it, tested it,came up about 153 psi on all cylinders, got done told him i was leaving and right before i left he handed me the keys and the title and said "here take it, its all yours". party time!!! i even tried to pay him but he wouldn't except it. coming home with me tomarrow.
  16. thanks guys which block do you think would be better to convert to a l28et?
  17. OK. so i found a 280zx for $300. car starts, barely, can keep it running if you mess with the throttle a little, can't rev past 2k though after that couldn't keep it running. i did a carfax and it was in a accident in 97 but everything looks to be ok.any ideas on what it might be or if i should buy it? thanks in advance. oh yeah forgot to mention its a 83 if that matters.
  18. sorry missed it hold on i gotta read it... yeah it makes some sense i don't know a lot of things about cars and engines tuning and stuff but i'm pretty sure (correct me if im wrong) how hard a engine can turn driveshaft, diff, tires and horsepower is how fast it possibly could go. so if that is true than how is horsepower and torque the same? sorry that just doesn't add up for me. The rest of it pretty much makes sense.
  19. ill say this once more, those numbers were FAKE made up numbers off to give an example of hp. tq. differences with import engines in general. 550 ft. lbs isn't weak but what good is a 1 bagillion million hp car if it can't push numbers like that in tq. does it help trap speed or something? i'm all for learning new things. btw numbers i was looking for were more in the 450 range for both hp and tq. if that clarifys anything. thanks for all the help guys keep'em coming its a 77 280z btw weight on the door says 2700 lbs.
  20. no reason i was just using thoughs numbers as examples, i was just saying i don't see a lot of torque numbers matching horsepower numbers.
  21. nah just a fast ass car that'll beat corvettes and such and v8 Zs haha
  22. mostly i was looking for a good balenced setup good torque to get off the line quick, and keep me ahead the rest of the way and to make the v8 guys have to explain to all their buddies why they lost to a import
  23. mostly what i would like to know is if it could be put into a z s30 without cutting original body? i might restore later idk.
