  1. Undercoating is soft and rubbery and comes off hard for a reason. It serves a purpose. Just go with 3m undercoating it works and is easy to apply.

As long as your not driving on dirt roads @ 70mph you won't need to undercoat your card for a long while. Who drives their Datsun in the winter with salt? Use 3m undercoat and touch up as needed in further years.

  2. 3m undercoating, it comes in aerosol can and is available at most stores where spray paint is sold. Works well, easy to use, made by 3m, and easily attainable. Be careful undercoating is sticky stuff, it does not like to come off.

Other name brands will work too, I just prefer 3m. I like the cans since it's easy to get it where you need it and great for touching up. Go check out what your local store has and try it out.

  3. So it just threw a code? If it it's still running perfect, leave it alone. Codes happen, just like perfect software has errors every once in awhile. However if it's just spark plugs, bring it to a normal garage. Any mechanic can change them and they can pull up instructions on the computer. Or do it yourself.

Most high end car dealerships (BMW, Lexus) charge around 90.00 an hour for labor. And regardless of how long it SHOULD take, they have base rates for certain jobs.

    How is it running currently?

  4. Hah looks like you had some hillbillies put that thing together.

Makes me think of my friend who bought a Dodge Challenger from Arkansas. The add said:

"Rebuilt motor top to bootum" and when they picked it up the motor was in his living room. When they got home one of the baggies was labeled "door scruws".

All that said, atleast they tried. Although that stuff on your car is just plain dangerous.

  5. looks good. looks pretty grey though, do they do black also? I like the tranny tunnel, wonder if they do rear shock towers too

I e-mailed them and they said they don't have the patterns for rear shock towers. They can make the carpet without cutting the area for a console out.

  6. To do:

    -Check calipers, pads

-Check rear drums and brake cylinder (see if they're leaking, might need a rebuild)

-If they all check out, I'd drain the system completely and rebleed, keep going even though you don't see bubbles.

    -Check Master Vac

Remember, you can buy rebuild kits for your master cylinder, wheel cylinders, and calipers. Think that's not smart? Well they have people in china rebuilding them making 10 cents an hour, think they care if you die, because they didn't pay attention rebuilding it? Plus it saves you $$$ Black Dragon Auto sells some of the rebuild kits.

  7. it's generically called naval jelly (i think it was developed by the navy) can be purchase in those small bottles at your local automotive store. Advanced Auto, Napa, Autozone etc... It is nice stuff, spread it on, then let it do its thing, and best of all it deactivates with water. Great for hard to reach places and getting in groves that you can't hit with a DA Sander, wire wheel, or sand paper.

Heres the wikipedia article if your curious as to what exactly it is and what it does:

  8. I recommend you:

    1. Sit on it for a few months, do some research, then make a decision. I think it would be best if you rethought your end result if your hesitant about spending the money.

    2. Do all the work yourself (If your car already has the LT1 the hard part is done), the rest will be fun.

    3. Pay the money, no one is going to be cheap for what you want.

#1 is what you should consider, for now.

  9. You know it took him 2 minutes to write and post that, but we would ♥♥♥♥ bricks if he actually got one and posted on hybridz here in a few weeks. Not a bad idea, why keep an eye out for the deal of a life time when you can wait for it to come to you?

  10. I love my Volvo 850 turbo wagon as a DD. (240's and 740's are good wagons too if you want RWD)

    -Has utility

    -FWD

    -turbo charged

    -good fuel economy

    -safety features

    -reliable

    -easy to work on

-They've used a 7 layer paint system for many many years, thats why you don't see many rusty volvo's, unless their owners abused them. It's easy to find a rust free older one if your on a budget.

People usually make jabs at me when I say I drive a Volvo wagon, then I say wanna see who's car can go more miles? People usually don't expect to keep their car long enough to see 200,000 miles+.

On a side note I got to meet Irv Gordon a few weeks ago, he has the 2,600,000 mile volvo. He had the engine rebuilt at 600,000 and they said he was pushing it by waiting that long and now he hasn't rebuilt it since in 2million miles.
