  1. Hi Zpeed and Racerx, I'm glad you like my project! Zpeed: the car is not yet finished yet as I'm doing a double degree at the same time! It is almost ready to crank as most of the ecu wiring is completed. The roll cage is the only structural thing that I have done(if thats what you're asking ie. no chassis rail enforcement!), but it is fully stiched along the inner rocker panel, and braced side to side along the back of the seat area, it also extend into the front strut tower area as seen in the pic. After the mid semester exams I'll do a heap more and it'll go to the trimmers after that, home stretch, nearly finished! RacerX: at the moment I dont have a scanner to post the pics that I have, will try to buy one soon. The brakes are aluminium, they come from a 993 twin turbo Porsche. As the power steering, I want a car which is nice to drive to events, compete and hopefully win, then be able to drive home in comfort, not tow it home! The WRX power steering is progressive so its good especially with 235 17s!

  3. Hi all, unfortunatelly I dont have a scanner to post pics of my RB26DETT 240z but there is a photo of it at www.240z.org click on photo gallery, then on members photo gallery and it should be on the 4th or 5th page. It's the Audi Imola yellow car! If anyone has questions about RB conversions or the car, you are welcome to email me at nguyenxcuong@hotmail.com Cheers, Cuong Nguyen http://www.240z.org/photopost/index.php?photo=349
  4. Hi Simon, I'm from Perth, Western Australia also. If you are on a tight budget, forget about doing RB conversions as the actual real cost of doing any conversion goes well beyond the initial cost which you'll have anticipated for. I have a '73 240z which has an RB26DETT,single Garrett GT-40 ball bearing turbo, custom tuned length exhaust manifold (all stainless steel), Autronic SM2 ecu with antilag and traction control, Brembo 4 spot calipers with BMW 8 series 330 mm rotors at the front and Z32 rotors at the rear, WRX power steering rack, full moly cage tower to tower,R200 with KAAZ 1.5 way LSD centre ++ lots, lots more. If you're still keen you are welcome to drop me a line at nguyenxcuong@hotmail.com and I'll be more than happy to anwer any questions that you may have about RB conversions. Regards, Cuong Nguyen.
  5. Hi all, I live in Australia and have installed an RB26DETT in my '73 240z. I personally think that the RB26DETT is favourable over the VG30DETT for the fact that it easier to install and that it is a much stronger engine stock, also with the VG there is a lot of hidden expenses when you are going for stronger internals ie four cam sticks vs two!! There is a endless tuning parts for the RB26DETT available to make up to over 1000HP and 12,000RPM kits! not kidding. As for the 2JZ's the head does not flow anywhere as well as the RB's even compared to an RB25DET, because the ports have sharp turns and wierd directions. Call me biased, but if you're after an tried and proven engine with of the shelf tuning parts, then an RB26DETT wins hands down.
