looking good can't wait to put mines in and get her running!!

what mounts do you have? I just got my rb20det but have yet to mount it in my 240z.
-
Thank you! I really did want to choose a color that stuck out. I still have a long way to go with it with the brakes and suspension bushings. I'm actually in the process of buying a RB25DET to swap in. The welder I bought http://www.eastwood.com/mig-welder-110vac-135a-output.html?reltype=3 with 75/25 argon co2 mix with .23 wire. I debated between this and the Hobart 140 i think but the eastwood 135 had better reviews so I chose that. I used the snot out of it and been dragging it around my yard and driveway and to friends houses for multiple task, I even store it out in my shed and it keeps going! I'm going to fire it up this summer 2015 for my fuel tank sump and finish the suspension up! Can't wait. More updates to come soon.

thanks guys, so far I decided to go with the sump since I have a welder. DIY pics coming soon!

Hey everybody. I have picked up a rb20det engine for my 71 240z which currently has the stock l24. I've been researching and planning the swap for years but still unsure about the fuel system for my carb conversion to efi. I know I have to upgrade the lines with 3/8 size return/feed lines and add an inline walbro fuel pump. I understand that i have the following options correct me if I'm wrong: !. Modify stock 240z fuel tank with a sump. 2. Replace stock tank with a 280z tank. 3. Keep stock tank but add a surge tank in the system. Which is what you guys are currently running in your setups or recommend? This car will be a weekend street car with a hp goal of 300. PS. Will I need to modify my driveshaft? I been searching and searching for a while but still unsure thank you in advance!

Ok sorry about that well here are some updated pics and idk why they keep coming out sideways I got her on jack stands to do undercoating and s13 coilovers before the winter time. Removed the 4 halfshaft bolts the 3 upper strut bolts and she hanging low enough for me to cut off the tube Pressed, welded, and crappy painted the rear lower perch. She's all in there now. I got the wheel mocked up I DEFINITLY will go with flares in the next few months when spring comes around Is there anyway this can be moved to a build thread section? Lol

Thanks 2sixtzombii. It is a lot of work but worth it in the end hopefully, time to start putting this old gal back together and in the meantime I picked up another toy smh this makes car number 5 in my current garage, number 17 in my life.

Thanks @slowpoke it's so much work, I forgot to mention that the floors had holes to the front and back palm size and I just patched them and the rest of the floors were pretty stable, going to paint the interior soon with pics.

It's has been a long winter and it's time to update this thing since it's been a long time. Bottom line is that I finally patched up all the rust in this rust bucket. It was very very teadious, very time consuming and basically a royal pain, but it was all worth it! I finally got to stage were I have to prime and sand and primes and sand and prime and sand! Very fun as you can imagine. Then it was time to paint, I was going to do white or black or red but it seems everyone is doing that so I went with Porsche mint green. It's not perfect because this is only the second full paint job a ever done. It looks better then when I got the car. Now it time to put her all back together and put some undercoat under the car I was thinking por 15? Then figure out what I'm going to use for cabin insulations maybe dynomat? I pick up some miata seat from the local pick and pull. The oem seats are in good condition but they don't hold you in enough. I'll post more pics as I get more time to work on her.

awesome feedback you guys, one more question. Do I really have to tig weld the tubes to the hub? I been rocking out with my gas mig set up, can I just use that? -
another s13 coilover question
bestlowrida replied to bestlowrida's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Thanks, I guess I better check to see if my konis that came with car are blown or still good. If there good ill be going the sectioned ground control strut way. If they are blown then I was thinking of just going the s13 route. Wish the weather would warm up so I could resume working on her. -
Now I know this topic has been talked about to death and I been searching but for the rear perches, instead of using the zcc or the stance/megan perches, would you be able to use these from megan http://www.meganracing.com/product.asp?prodid=966&catid=56 I mean it is a pair of front perch in this case you would need 4 front perches for the s13 to s30 coilover setup. Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the dry ice advice dershum! I didn't get to the floors today but I did the battery tray area.
-
Yeah i been spending my free time looking at the floors and how I will attack them and were to buy them. Thinking about going with the zedd findings ones with the rails. I pretty much have left is the floors, battery tray, and the front lower rockers. Then I can start doing por15/body sealer/primer/paint. Need to save some money for the floors next. In the mean time I will update when i do the tray and lower rockers.
-
Thanks Seattlejester will do!! And I guess I'll be scraping that factory applied sound proofing next weekend then to find rusty floors lol
-
Is this how the floors came from Nissan or is this two floors in one?? Do y'all think I should replace them or patch up?

I hope I am saving her the right way thanks for keeping me in check I have some more pics and updates for this very thread soon! Luckily all the patched I made so far are made from a fender and hood left over from a friend.
