  1. looks great and those wheels are sick !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  2. so i got to work on my car for like an hour this morning and i dropped the exhaust and i was trying to get the driveshaft out and i could not loosen the nuts. two of them felt like there were about to round off so i just stopped. does anyone have any tricks they know off to get the driveshaft nuts off without rounding them off. i loaded them up with pb blaaster and still they wouldnt budge.
  3. yea well this is turning out to be a bigger job than i first thought. i just drained the diff and realized in order to pull the cover i have to drop the diff. so i have to change my clutch as well so i am going to do it all while i am at it. i want to make sure there is nothing wrong with my cv's but how can i confirm that they are good or broken.
  4. of couse i jacked it up and looked around but everything looks fine and cant tell from just that. so i guess the next thing i should do is to drain the diiff and pull the cover
  5. i have an 83 zxt and the other night i was leaving a car meet and as i was pulling out of the lot something broke from the rear end of my car. i first pulled right over i thought it was my clutch but i was able to drive the car fine if i want. but there is a thumping noise like metal banging in the rear of my car as the car moves. i think it is a cv axles but i am not a hundred percent sure. if anyone has an idea of what this is or how i can find the problem please let me know thanks.
  6. if you are looking to make your car faster and to be cheap and safe u should also get a rising rate fuel pressure regulator as well if u are goin to turn the boost up. and yes an intercooler is needed. you will also have to plug up the pop off valve if u are looking to run more than 10psi. i have an 83zxt with an intercooler and rrfpr and a electronic boost controller and i can beat srt-4's at 8lbs and i have run 14lbs of boost for awhile now with no ill effects to the motor. my car at 14lbs wrecks srt 4's.
  7. today i will try and bleed the front brakes. i know i need new pads. but they still have a little life in them. i was just curious i want to change them and get really good pads that i will be able to use at the track. if u have any suggestions please let me know thanks.
  8. i have poly bushings in the car now all around. i put the bushings in april at the same time i put in new struts and lowering springs.
  9. i have a 83 zx turbo and when i step on the brakes my car pulls to the right very hard. i am not sure what the problem is? i thought it was an alignment issue at first but my car rides pretty straight down the road. it only pulls to the right when i brake. then i thought one of my front calipers might be bad so i jacked up the front of the car and and had a friend sit and keep their foot on the brake and i tried to spin both wheels. they were both locked i couldn't budge them. so i have kno idea. i havent checked the rear brakes but i didnt think that they could cause such a serious pull. does anyone know what can be causing this pull under braking.thanks
  10. no the hood was closed the whole time. today i got my car towed home and havent been able to take a look yet because it has been raining all day
  11. i have searched ans searched but i couldnt find anything. tonight i was driving my car around and it was running great. i went to a car meet and when i started my car back up it was making a wierd noise(almost like a grinding of some sort) coming from somewhere in the engine bay. so i turned my car off and then started it again and heard the same thing so i opened the hood and still couldnt pin point the noise. so i wanted to drive it to my house which is very close to where i was and the car just died as soon as started moving. once it died i couldn't even start it. when i turn the key i just here a click. if anyone has ever come across this problem or knows what is wrong please post any info u might know about it. thanks
  12. it is a tapping sound. and i know that all of my plugs and wires are in the right spot for sure.
  13. thanks! i dont really have use for an ebrake anyway but i will just keep things stock then. thank for your input.
  14. i also want to add that my car doesnt always idle the same now that i have been hearing the knock/tap. even if the motor is warm sometimes it is idling at like 1200-1500rpms. then other times it idles normal. idk what is causing this. thanks
  15. i have a 83 zx turbo and i hear a knock/tapping noise when i am sitting at a light and if i rev it up a little the knock/tap gets faster and louder and if i rev it up past 2000rpm it goes away but the knock/tap always comes back. sometimes i can hear it if i am cruising around at low rpms as well but it always silences when the rpms are over 2000-2500. i know that my oil is ok i have checked that numerous times and it isnt an engine knock. i think it could be either a valve tap or the timing chain is tapping against the timing chain cover. i am not sure. i have searched all of the above and found some info on the timing chain and that sometimes they stretches. so if anyone has some info on what you think it can be and what i should do about it. i know that if is the timing chain i need to get it fixed as soon as possible. thanks
  16. is there an aftermarket or a different type of caliper i can buy as a replacement because this actually happened on my car before i got my licence on the right rear and i brang it to a place and the stock replacement caliper was like a lot of money. so is there a better one that i can buy for a zx or should i just try to take it apart and lube it up and rebuild it. thanks for the info
  17. i have an 83 zx and recently my brake warning light has been coming on while i accelerate. i searched hybrid z and the only thing that i found was really to check if my brake fluid was low or the switch on the ebrake was grounding. i check both out and that neither was the problem. the other day i had my car up on the lift at my school and with the car in neutral and the ebrake not engaged my left rear tire was locked up. i couldnt spin the tire unless i put a lot of force to spin it and even still it would barely move. also i noticed sometimes when i am driving my ebrake has no feel to it. like there is 2 inches of free play where if i pulled it there was no pressure. so if anyone has had this problem or knows what is wrong please let me kno. thanks
  18. yea i have a 280zx turbo and it is straight piped. it sounds pretty sweet. outside of the car it is really loud but it isnt't loud at all inside i was suprised at that. when i went to straight pipe from stock exhaust i felt a good increase in power. i have a clip of the exhaust in my signature
  19. Is anyone doing the hot rod power tour this year. if you are post what kind of car you are doing it in. the website for it is http://www.mytrain.com/hrpt2008.html
  20. is it an easy installation to put the illumina's on the front and hp's on the rear for a 280zx turbo coupe.
  21. I only looked at the first picture because it took awhile to download due to size, but that's your fuel pump and one of the hoses needs to be replaced... Make sure you use the proper high pressure fuel injection hose and it's probably a good idea to replace both hoses while you're at it
  22. 83 zx turbo. this is a clip of my exhaust.
  23. i have an 83 zx turbo and i don't like the way the front and rear bumpers look as much as the early z's looked. i love the way the front end looks on the early z cars that have sick front air dams on them. i also kno that the bumpers on the zx weigh a lot. so i want to kno if i can install the bumper from an early z on a zx.
  24. i am goin to upgrade the suspension on my 83zx turbo. there is just to much body roll and the rear end just squats way to much. so i am looking to upgrade the springs and shocks. i always see a kit on ebay that tokico makes, the hp performance springs and shocks and there is the illumina's as well. which one should i get, or is there a better option.
