  1. I had a similar issue with Holley carbs in the past, before I embraced fuel injection and Weber carbs, and it was almost always: "1" The wrong gasket in the kit or a flipped gasket that is "upside down". Or "2" In the case of a carb that sat for years, debris or corroded check valve. Holley makes great carbs, but they can be pain chasing down gremlins and it's usually something you thought was fine until you replace it in desperation and suddenly the thing is perfect.
  2. Hey, back in the '80's I had a '76 280Z that I converted to triple Weber side draft carbs, 11:1 pistons and long race headers with full 3" exhaust with the exit in front of the right rear wheel through the rocker panel. Some judicious porting, polishing, balancing and blueprinting and the last dyno run had it at 255hp and I didn't have to fabricate anything but the exhaust system and the exit through the rocker panel. Not a V8, but better than the stock turbo ZX and no turbo lag, no suspension issues, and no changes in F/R balance. A real blast to drive and would eat Porches and 'Vettes for breakfast! Oh yeah, you'll need to go to MUCH wider tires to handle the power and speed you'll carry into and out of the twisties. Should be an easier upgrade than in the '80s since the 3" exhust tubing is readily available now. I had to use diesel truck tube back then. As for a blow-through system, with the better fuel pressure regulators available now that can track boost, fuel isn't the issue. The quality of the carb and the sealing of its gaskets are critical to avoid fuel leaks. Good luck and I hope to see some pics when you're done.
  3. My understanding is an R200 is an R200 and parts is parts. Common year may make a difference. You will likely need to use both the pinion and ring gears in order for everything to line up. There are some aftermarket gears but they can be a pain to get so any R200 you have access to can be gutted for parts.
  4. Hey, I'm a newbie. I emailed about the swaps as I'm considering either a VK45 or the new 5.0 Modular from Ford since they are similar in size and weight with the Ford having the edge in power. The VK is looking like the best option for me due to budget issues but the Ford would be awsome, especially with the support the engine is getting from Ford Racing and the aftermarket. I'll be happy with 400 to 500 hp as it's more streetable than the tire shredders I had in my youth.
