  1. really,IMHO,for the price of a manifold these days,85-100 bucks, that actually is made for the carb you have, why not just get the right one?your gonna have to take everything apart anyway to do the job,and the right manifold will work better, probably substantially. And as a kicker, you would'nt have much trouble gettin 40 or 50 bucks for your used one,and the new one will be shiney and clean!I say get the right one,but hell, everybody has an opinion, right?

  2. Aww man,ITS SOOOO CUTE!! I would do that to one myself, but I already get kicked out of Import events for running a domestic motor.Ricers sure are turning into snobby little turds. You and scotty make me relive getting spanked by that GN RX7 at the last SEZS all the time DAMMIT!!I look at the video often to spur me on......Dang turbos, just makes me MAD!! Congrats on the install.Looks awesome,3 months and counting down huh?gonna make it? huh,are ya? are ya? are ya?

  3. Do a search on miniram here and you should get several hits.Grumpyvette has posted some very informative data with comparisons to several other systems and multiple links to technical information. The techIII I think is from electromotive. Its highly programable with provisions for almost any type of systems control you might need.Haltech is bit more common with the import/tuner crowd, also big into turbo control, highly reccomended by some, but I personally have no experience with it.1200hp is a lofty goal and will require a seriously lofty budget.I hear alky is very corrosive and brings a whole new set of issues to the table. The kind of power you are talking about really only seems to run in professional circles from what I have seen.I would love to be involved some stuff like that but quite honestly, its a bit out of my league. Not only is the engine SUPER expensive to build,The rest of a car to safely and reliably stand up to it is ultra expensive also.Suddenly we are talking about a 100,000 dollar car.Best of luck with your project and I would love to see it at a SEZS shootout.Post some pics in the photo area. Its easy and painless. You get that thing running and you'll be hanging with some fast company, tell John Force I said hello!

  4. OK guys,I talked to Brody today and heres the scoop. The ATI procharger he has is for sale.He wants to sell the whole setup preferably but will part it out if necessary.1900 bucks will get you the polished procharger, mounting bracket, all plumbing, blowoff valve, spearco intercooler and all the related pulleys. He has it all boxed up and ready to go.If anyone wants it just reply to this post and I'll get you hooked up.Let the games begin...........

  5. Hope all goes together well for you Vegas.Take comfort in knowing what it could have cost if it was'nt a Chevy motor that took a powder on you. What pushed my decision to sleeve my block in particular was the fact that it was an original 4 bolt high nickel content 400.I can live with .001 cyl deflection on a less than nascar engine although .000 is better.Doc,I chose the proflo for bang for the buck. The Victor manifold is well proven. The kit is complete and easy to install.Uses off the shelf GM sensors. No laptop needed and changes from performance to economy map at the push of a button.Down side is no provision for wide band O2 and comparatively small fuel and ignition maps.28lb injectors only good to around 500hp so you would have to upgrade to 40plus size for twin turbos even at low boost levels. For twins on a pretty healthy budget,I'd say Miniram and Haltech or TechIII, and some serious dyno time. For all the high horsepower Z's I have seen, few have truly put over 600HP to good use.I am anxious to see a completed twin turbo small block Z make multiple passes in person and then putter down to the drivein for a milkshake.Just makes me giggly all over.

  6. Maybe I was a bit to brief to say "just sleeve it and put it back together".I agree with the Doc on the part about having it installed correctly with honing and a deck plate. However I do not agree that you automatically end up with cylinder distortion and excessive oil consumption. Many a small block is out there, including my own with 2 sleeves in it,making great horsepower and adequate durability. Not perfect as a new block, but a hell of a lot cheaper.Other opinions greatly appreciated and respected.

  7. I have Recaros in mine that I have had a long time. They have been recovered, poorly in my opinion. They have been good seats but need a little work now and I recently came across a single Sparco Torino brand new for 225 bucks. The bad news is a matching seat is gonna cost about 500-600 bucks,sooooo.....The recaros are for sale if anybody is interested.I will bring them to SEZS5 in march,or they can be picked up in Birmingham area if we do a deal.I'll post a couple of pics in my album.Sorry,no provisions for harnesses.

  8. I agree w/the history part.It was interesting. The rest was an absolute joke. They both put a new cam, springs, header, and holly 4bbl setup on the cars.I did'nt notice them to be automatics though...just me i guess...I remember one guy stalling badly off the line in one race.I guess thats why I thought they were stick cars. The most piss poor driving I have ever seen.hell, they had john morton there, they should have just let him make a couple of passes.pretty decent cars overall though.Wonder where they got em?

  9. OK,I can top that.I was at a crowded bar a couple of years ago(ok 15 years). The crowd was very heavy.I turned around from the group I'm talking to to light up a smoke and behind me is a girl with long bushy blond hair and a real fuzzy sweater with her back to me.Evidently she has poured on the hairspray cause when I flicked my bic,a small blue flame crawled up her sweater and into her hair.I FREAKED OUT and quickly patted her on the back to put out the flame, she spun around and asked what I was doing? I said I thought she was someone else but the smell of burning hair was everywhere. She never figured out what happened but man could that have gone COMPLETELY wrong!! I was a wreck after that, talk about a buzzkill.

  10. I too have a vh45 sitting in the floor. I am am interested in getting it bolted into a 240z that I have also.I tend to try and get everything together before I jump into a project like this so please keep me informed if you make some adapter plates.I have yet to decide on NA with nitrous or boosting but I do think the factory intake is BUTT ugly, however well it works and am leaning toward a custom fabbed intake or possibly twm throttle bodys or something similar.Obviously gonna need exhaust manifolds/headers also so I am interested in ANY parts availability. Please let me know of your progress,I will be watching closely.

  11. Did everyone forget Brodys car at the last Hybrid shootout?I have plenty of pics if you need to see 'em.Matter of fact,I think he still has the supercharger setup for sale as we speak, going to a single turbo now...It can obviously be done, however he did put a little hump in the hood.I posted a pic in the hybrid z section in the albums. Can never seem to get a pic in a post

  12. I have it on my 408.Hav'nt had any problems.Pretty easy to setup and instructions are clear and easy to read. The kit has everything you need for an older style SBC w/HEI,but I'm not sure how it would hook in to an LT1 distributor if its the cam driven setup, but I'm sure they have it covered in the book somewhere. My only complaint is that the tuning map is pretty small. Also no provision for a wideband O2 sensor .I had to fabricate a nitrous plate as the intake opening is not a standard size.28 lb injectors are good to 500 hp or so.And I have tapped the fuel log directly for nitrous/fuel enrichment, kinda handy for a simple system.Been thinking of maybe going to a Megasquirt down the road for the better map capability and also nitrous control. For the money, the proflo is hard to beat. The ecu has three memory sets so you can store profiles for economy and performance. Also has closed loop available, just turn it on and it pretty much runs itself.

  14. The price of O scopes has dropped considerably over the last few years.Might Check your Local Mac Tool guy if you're in the market. We have the ET2010 scope on clearance for under 300 bucks.Vantage is a good piece, just way overpriced.

  15. I got some new software for coverting analog tape video to digital format.Video is from import shootout in Montgomery a few weeks ago. Was'nt sure how to attach it to this post but I did manage to get it uploaded to the picture/video gallery. Not much of a kill, but it was fun anyway....
