  2. yeah i got a bit flamed at HAMB but i few ppl helped me out
  3. i need a set of 2 seater quarter windows if any1 can help me out. other wise this project will have to wait for a bit to i can get my hands on some
  4. here is some photos of the oppostie quarter window frame turned upside down and cut badly into place but i still wanna make the upper most edge of the quarter window sharp not rounded to match the opposite corner at the bottem left of the door
  5. Can you explain this a bit more zrossa, photos???, cause that was going to be my next step but i thought it might be a bit ambious. it doesnt look too hard but i thought in reality... andrew
  6. I had some luck over the weekend with this project. i found that if a take the left quarter window, turn it upside down and put it in the right hand side it fits pretty well but is now slopped up like the 240z. will get a pic up tomoz. its upper most point is still rounded so it dosnt match match the corner near the front of the door frame but it does match the angle of the windscreen which is good. been practicing on my 50 dollar parts car so i dont wreck my good 260z
  7. cheers the work they do on that site looks amazing and makes me wanna start chopping up my car. too bad my skill dont match just yet
  8. sweet! free balanced crank. my car just keeps on giving me little gifts
  9. Hi all When i had my sump of i had a look at my L28 crankshaft and there seemed to be holes like when its balanced. Can someone confirm this for me as others said they might be factory balancing. No thumbnail but the link works cheers andrew
  10. actually the idea has stuck with me and in the wee hours of the morning i think it might be doable. i made a mock up of what im chasing here. i think if a merged a 2+2 window with the back end of a 2 seater window and weld in a part of the 2 seater surrounding metal it could work. ideas would be greatly apreciated
  11. ha ha id love to get a two seater but their really rare on the ground in australia. i dont think my idea is a viable one because of the different roof lines when comparing the vehicals
  12. the 2+2 are pretty much the same shell just longer behind the rear wheels right?
  13. Hi all got a question that might be a bit weird but an answer would be great. im building up a 260z 2+2. love the long body. however im in love with the rear window lines of the 240z (windows just behind the doors) would it be possible to get the rear windows from a 240z and the surrounding sheet metal and graft it on to my 260z? possible , hard , impossible? Andrew
  14. hmmm... my motor isnt running fuel injecton. just twin carb...
  15. Hello, I've searched all over but i cant seem to find a good answer the power of a stock L28 as i found my 260z has actually a L28 in it. Bonus eh. Also what power figures, roughly, would a L28 with SU's , extractors and exhaust system make? cheers Andrew
  16. i took of the lid and had a look at the chain. standing at the front of the car and looking at it the left side is tight but the right side is loose. i'm just gonna change it for peace of mind. although it did run fine and reved fine before. also i took off the sump to change the gasket cause it was leaking everywhere and i will need to take it over the pits in the end
  17. both good ideas noodle and 240z_master thanks
  18. well i will asume, unless anything goes BANG, that that spring is just the old one left behind cause the i just bought the car as a project and it hadnt been stared for seven years and it sat there and idled quite nice really after a warm up. just a slight miss everynow and then cheers everyone
  19. hi all I took of my sump of my 1976 260z the other day for the first time and when i was looking a the crankshaft i notice a few big drill holes in it. That means its balanced crankshaft yeah? So i was looking a the numbers on it to see if it was the orginal crankshaft or a different one. It has the numbers " 33-1" next to the nissan symbol and a larger "30" down ther also. does anyone know if this is this the standard crank?
  20. FSM actually, haynes manual would be nice with all the pics...but yeah, I'm thinking the engine would ru like a dog without that spring too. just wanted to confirm.
  21. OK, yeah I checked the oil pump and it wasn't that. I thought it was something aroun the timing belt. So what's involved with replacing it? The engine runs quite smoothly (car isn't moving or anything, just starting engine with car on blocks) so I'd say the timing belt is ok. If this spring was missing, would the timing be off heaps or would the car still run ok? And to replace it, is it basically replacing the timing belt tensioner or can it be re-installed without replacing the whole unit?
  22. I found this spring in the oil sump and wondered where it was from. Any ideas cause I can't think of anywhere except some part of timing belt area maybe? It would have to be some area involved in the lubrication system wouldn't it? I first thought the little spring in the oil pump but that was still there.
