  1. If it has regulation problems as this one seems to, taking the battery out of the loop can result in crazy voltages which will burn out circuits and modules very very quickly. Have you checked your grounds yet? I didnt say voltage spikes btw, I said current, intermittent grounds can cause current to backfeed and do all sorts of weird things. Voltage will stay the same though. If the grounds are good, replace the alt, its fried. The load on the exciter circuit is is the alternator field coil, nothing else in line is needed.
  2. Have you checked your engine bock ground? And alternator case ground? Odd and roaming current spikes tend to be ground issues in my experience. Not sure if yours has a charge light, but if you do, check and see if its coming on when you turn the key on. If its not, check for resistance from the L terminal to the alt case, if its open, somebody is lying on the bench test .
  3. This old steering wheel came in my car but I have no idea who made it. I got to find out in the hopes I might be able to find a new horn button for it!
  4. Here are some of the brochures, Ill finish up scanning the rest of the stuff as I get time! I dont have a scanner so ive been having to do it at work! Enjoy, 56k shoot yourself now
  5. Ironically enough, My set was purchased directly from scarab. The really weird thing is that in the Brochures and stuff that I have, the valve covers on the pictured car do not match either your set or mine. I wonder if they had different production runs.
  6. I have scarab mounts, bellhousing, rear fender flares, hood scoop, access panels, 3.15:1 r200 diff, valve covers, and combo boost/egt gauge. The trans might possibly have been modified by them but I don't know that for sure so ill leave it off untill somebody comes up with any references to them screwing with a T-50.
  7. I remember Dsommer saying there were only a couple Turn key cars on the forums, I wanted to try and start a thread for folks to post what parts(or cars) they have and pics, thought it might be cool to see who has what, and gather us all together. Info on these things is kinda scarce, I have an old price list of theirs, would love to see if I can document everything on it . Could turn into a nice repository of knowledge to sort out replica parts from genuine ones!
  8. Lol, wow, Im pushing quite a bit more then 150 hp through it at the moment(seems to hold ok), any idea how it stacks up to a T-5 as far as dimensions go? can I plug and play a swap or is this gonna be a nightmare and a half to fix ?
  9. Yhea, that's definitely a fake, I have all the original sales brochures from scarab, those are definitely not scarab seats nor the scarab interior. And Im curious about those Valve covers I see on his and the ones you restored dsommer, the previous owner of mine swears the ones I have are original, and they are very close but subtly different to the style yours and his are. Mine have the same fluting and whatnot, but the Scarab name is on a raised peice of what feels kinda like plastic, its level with the top of the fluting. Did they make different styles, or who has the fakes Anway, here are some pics, Ill get a closeup of the valve cover later.
  10. Ok I found something, its a t-50 not a t-5, Anybody got any info on the t-50?
  11. Sorry they are not the best, its kinda cramped under there... Anyway I hope these will help!
  12. Sorry it took so long folks, been a busy week at work and couldnt find time to use a lift. Here are some pics.
  13. I have a T-5 in my v8 z, the previous owner said it was a doug nash but I cannot find any info suggesting Doug Nash ever modified a T-5. The tag numbers on the trans do not match up to any T-5 for any production car, but the case is definitly a t-5. My gearbox had a road race shift pattern, reverse is top left, 1st lower left, 2nd top middle... and it does not have overdrive, 5 is direct drive. All my searching has not found a borg warner or other offering of the t-5 that is at all like this. If anybody has any ideas on what it is or where to look Id really appreciate it. The trans definitly predates 1981 if that helps.
  14. Heh, thanks for the pictures showing what I was talking about. But yhea any car that wishes to truely claim the scarab title, will be wearing a nametag with a number on it. I just like to think as im sure many others do that those couple extra original bits make mine closer to the "gods" as it were, then your average v8 swap. BTW I have peiced what I said there from various articles and whatnot, Hard facts about scarab and its offerings are rather difficult to come by it seems.
  15. Yhea, there are only 249(?) true Scarab Z cars going by ones that they sold as complete cars. They are all numbered and have individual dash plaques as well as the scarab emblems. In addition only the turnkey cars got the scarab aluminum valve covers or widebody kits. I have a san jose "Scarab" car, the original/previous owner knew the scarab folks so he got parts they didnt otherwise sell(mine wears the valve covers, scarab rear fenders and wing.) But since I lack the dash plate I do not have an official scarab car .
