So about a year and half ago I upgraded my 280z alternator to a 280zx internal volt regulator alternator. I did the wire modification and everything but have this annoying issue that the alternator won't kick on unless I high rev it past 3000 RPMs. When this happen the AMP gauge needle moves from the middle to 1/4 past it. This holds for a little bit and then it drops back down to the middle. When I do this all the lights in the car become brighter as if it getting the juice it needs. Now if I do not rev it to "jump start the alternator" It will run off the battery and the car will eventually die. So I'm wondering if it's a faulty Alternator? It was a refurbished one I got from Rock Auto. Or is it maybe fuse related I have the glass fuse still and the old fuse wires in the engine bay? Thanks!

So I finally got around to installing my Weather Stripping for the Z and after I install the driver side stripping I noticed I was missing the Window Door Sash...and water is just pouring in from the top. Black Dragon won't do anything about it for me. I don't know but that part is only included in the later year kit and mine was built in Jan. 1975. The part I'm missing in #3 in the graph shown. Now Do I need to spend and extra 50 bucks to get the 2 pieces of stripping or is there some 3M stuff I can use? Update: I called Black Dragon again and they took care of it and sent me the 2 pieces I need =)

Ya it's the pulley that you can adjust to remove the belt...I just wanted to be 100 percent sure it was still drivable -

well its the damm wrong size anyways.... the old one is a 17x40x12mm... Do I need this pulley on in order to drive? -
So I want to replace the Idler pulley bearing. I got the pulley up and the bearing punched out and now I have a problem.. I'm not sure if I got the right bearing or I just punched out the race as well. The bearing that was in the pulley is a KBC 6203D and the once I'm replacing it with is BECK/ARNLEY Part # 0513860 {0781301} 15mm X 35mm X 11mm. So did I get the wrong bearing? Heres the pictures of it Backside Frontside

So I noticed gas smell coming out of my engine bay while driving.. parked looked under the hood and sure enough on the fuel rail looked like some fuel leaked out.. now we. I was reving the engine I noticed on the injector were the fuel seemed to be coming out that where the injector plugs into the engine that little smoke puffed out. Could smoke be from the gas leaking or does the injector have a bad o ring?

Just curious was reading something on Black Dragon Auto about 75 Zs and they said this. 260Z: Front and rear bumpers were enlarged to meet Federal 5 mph regulations, adding about 130 pounds. Turn signals mounted above front bumper. By midyear, the 260 was replaced by 280Z. 280Z: To meet tougher emissions standards, a 3 mm bore increase raised engine displacement to 2,753 cc, 2.8 liters, producing 149 horsepower. BOSCH's L-Jetronic fuel injection replaced SU carburetors on all models. Transmission and differential gear ratios were changed. California models required a catalytic converter exhaust system. 280Z model was only sold in the US. 1977 Engine modifications raised horsepower to 170. 5 speed manual overdrive was available. Bumpers were enlarged again. Curious to what the engine mod was? Or is this a misprint?? I'm pretty sure the badge on my car say 170hp

So I just wanted to say thanks to NewZed and Aliasct for the replies and the help with this swap! So only issue I have now is that my dash lights and head lights flicker and the Volt Meter needle starts bouncing around... This happens when driving and the engine is Reving....now could this be from the fusible links? I read one post and sounds like it could be a ton of other things too... If it's the fusible links I would like to replace it with this one...has anyone had experience with this brand??. http://gadgetpro.stores.yahoo.net/st4dimafubl.html
