So what your saying is you would take the plug that is on the OLD VR cut it off and use the wires on it to splice onto the plug that connects to the VR and just plug the connectors together pretty much looping the it?? Sorry for the Madden style pictures....Best way for me to explain myself and comprehend! Also my car is a 75 280z

So as the title says I just got done taking my old alt out to replace it with a 83 280zx 60 amp. So when I took out the old altenator I looked at the ID tag on it and it says lt160-87b-r part number 23100-v1502 refab at Nissan Posted t his a as well in ignition and electrical.. So I looked it up and sure enough it's a 60 amp that may of came from a 77 810? Now from the looks up it the wires haven't been changed and the VR is still on the car and connected. Now there's some other stuff connected to the car where the fusible links and VR are connected that I don't know what it is...I'll take pictures in the morning to show.. So did the PO just not bother to do the wiring and just installed a 60 amp and it works? Don't know if after you INSTALL A 60 amp that your amp sensor in car would read past the middle? Mine still reads slightly over the middle.. Edit: Pictures added

Okay so I finally got a hold of a 60 amp from an 83 280zx... tho I have a question.. my altenator on the car didn't have a condenser hooked on to it.. now the one I got from the yard had the plugs attached to it plus the condenser ... so from reading what job it does it just collects the energy field that the alt makes so it doesn't mess with the radio?

Zmanj87 replied to Zmanj87's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
Well not really strapped on cash but buying overkill isn't what I want either lol.. Hmm if it was a bad head gasket wouldn't I be experience more problems?? Engine runs fine and the exhaust is clear. -
(75 280z) Cooling questions/Radiator suggestion....
Zmanj87 replied to Zmanj87's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
Also I see Mishimoto makes one for a 240z will it work in a 280z as well?? -
So my car seems to have a overheating problem.. It seems to be losing coolant somewhere and I've replaced the main hoses and I'm not seeing any leaks when I park in under the card board... The car doesn't have a Reservoir tank so I'm not sure if its just evaporating and going out of the outlet hose that just drips on the ground.. As of right now I'm just using distilled water I've replaced some parts for the cooling system Upper and Lower Radiator hoses Thermostat Water Temp Sensor Flushed the system as well So basically this is what happens, after a couple days if I run the car and I idle for awhile the temp raises about 3/4 to full now if I'm there for awhile it will go all the way to almost red but as I drive it goes right back to the middle... After a week the Radiator needs to be filled with over Gallon and Half of water then I let it run for 10 mins with no cap on and squeeze the upper hose to try to bleed any air out... Now sadly my heater doesn't work at all since I bought the car so I don't really know if I can bleed the car properly with out it or is there another way to bleed it?? Radiator Suggestions??? So I've saved up to buy a new radiator and I'm thinking of going with the Koyo Race http://www.koyoradracing.com/news.asp?id=61 It is pricey and I don't plan on doing any track but I do want an Aluminum radiator from a reputable brand.. Do you guys have any other suggestions for me that would just be better for daily driving?? Thanks to all that responded!!

(75 280) Valve Cover Breather Hose replacement
Zmanj87 replied to Zmanj87's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
Thanks for the replies!!! Ya after more research the term PCV Valve wasn't right ha... but it did turn me on to replacing the PCV valve located under the Intake manifold right?? -
So I need a new valve cover breather hose since it has split where it connects to the Valve cover.... I can't seem to find a part number for it and the one I could find is from MSA http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/15-6204 but it says that hose is for 77-78 280zs Also when I pulled the hose off there was some brownish black goop inside the hose... is that normal?? Edit: Also the PVC valve on the crank case doesn't tighten down all the way in the right placement... When it is tighten down the hose can't reach it and it looks like this
