  1. My right front tension rod snapped two weeks ago. Still looking for a replacement. MSA is out (damn having a 280ZX), Nissan no longer makes it, VB doesn't even list it. My dad works at a dealer...tried to see if anyone had it listed on the dealer net. Guy in MA was listed...we call...they destroyed the part. So much for finding a stock replacement.

Now, I've been searching around and see that many people have gone with the G Machines setup. I already have urethane bushings and what not, but that doesn't matter...I just want my car back on the road. I saw the kit in the VB catalog, but the picture doesn't show the actual tension rod. Does this kit include the actual rod? I just need a right front tension rod :( Thanks guys.

  2. Well, Kenny posted the other day about a friend with a dilmena on cars. That was me. The 280 isnt as reliable as it used to be, so my dad decided it was time for another car. He works at the mazda/mitshu/jeep/eagle/chrysler/plymouth dealer in Panama City. They had a 2003 Mazda Protege 5 for 20K. Last one they had in fact. My dad was like...how much can we get it for. They were like....cost. So after it was all said and done....14,620. Mom put down a nice down payment...so payments are only 249 a month...and I only have to pay half!! :) Comes with a 4 year/50,000 warranty also. Also, I still get to keep the Z as my project car. Now to the Mazda...fully loaded...except no leather interior.

    Heres the sticker:

The Z has 238,000 miles on it...this thing only has:

So now....what mods to do? Almost everything from Mazdaspeed will keep the car under warranty. They have a turbo kit for it, exhaust, intake, etc. The stock suspension and brakes are superb. Any thoughts? Also, what are some good mazda forums? mazdaworld.org isnt too bad, but was wondering if there were any that you guys preferred. Sorry for going pic crazy :) was too excited to resize.

And to make this Z related:

P.S. This frees up some more money for the SR20DET swap into the Z project this summer!!!!!!!!!! :) :) :)

scottie...no problem...i'll take more pics of your car next time :) hear you heading up to Tallahassee this weekend getting your tranny rebuilt by a local guy? let me know if you and james get a bite or hang out...i'll come join :) :) :)

  5. now im real confused...i went out this morning to see if i could find any leaks. well no leaks found...but when i went to press on the break pedal....it has pressure. didnt go drive it or anything....dont want it to go south on me again. i didnt hear any air escaping or anything like that Mike. Brakes confuse me :(

  6. so i'm driving down one of the busiest streets in tallahassee around rush hour. i'm doing around 45 MPH and am coming up to a stop light. i press the brake pedal...it goes to the floor! i try it again...same result. i pump it 5 times real fast and it finally builds pressure and brakes. i baby it home...while continuing this action combined with downshifting and e-brake. i'm thinking...low brake fluid or brake master cylinder is busted or something. i get home and check it....its full. so im thinking its the brake lines...either built up with air or losing pressure/fluid. i cant see a visible area that is leaking or wet. i have no lift or access to one...so i'm going to have to take it the nissan dealership tomorrow. any thoughts/comments? thanks...dont want to get ripped by nissan :(

  7. hmmm...I work at Office Depot. You wouldnt think that Office Depot sells computers, but we do....and for cheap too. I could get you a 2.2 Athlon with 512MB DDR RAM/40 gig HD/CD-RW/DVD drive for closer to $1000. We have some good deals. Try this site http://www.techdepot.com. As mentioned before, desktops are still better. Also, as suggested before, I would wait until after the holidays....but a little bit longer after the holidays. Athlon and Apple both have produced a 64-bit machine (while the computers we are on right now are 32-bit). Once the 64-bit machine hits the market, all the 32-bit machines are going to become super cheap. Just a thought. Let us know what you decide.

  8. hmmm...interesting...is that 25 foot estimate for both sides include the T-tops? I am also looking to replace the weatherstripping on both doors. But I need the full deal, including the T-tops. Anyone know? Thanks.
