  1. Note: This procedure does not apply to Turbo models. For 1981 Turbo models refer to Step 17. For 1982 Turbo models see your dealer. Is there a difference between turbo models?
  2. How do you set the timing on an '82 280zxt? The Haynes manual says to see dealer. Does the 82 also have the Timing Adjustment Screw? I couldn't find it, but the crank angle sensor is inside the distributor so doesn't seem like it would be.
  3. the car has been converted to a 5 speed, i do have spark and fuel. it sounds like it's about to start, the starter is working fine (replaced it and have a spare now), the battery is new, new spark plug wires as well. if it's been sitting for a week it couldn't be flooded though right? i'll try what you said and post back. also, the fuse under the hood on the passengers side was bypassed by the past owner, in the manual it said it was the Relay, this could be part of the problem? the past owner had problems with it and the wiring is a nightmare with wires cut and spliced in, i was considering trying megasquirt, but hesitant since the car won't start yet, but then again it was running fine before it died.
  4. how can i know if it's the timing? and i'm having problems seeing where the timing screw adjustment is.
  5. I was driving one day and all of a sudden the car died and had to be pulled home and it hasn't started since. I thought maybe it was the distributor and tinkered with that, now the car tries to start, cranks over but i'm thinking the timing might be off. Sorry guys, not really that great with cars and trying to learn! Pretty much I think I messed up the timing some how. Oh yeah, just to mention, i think the reason the car may have died was a faulty fuel pump? after replacing that is when it seems to want to start up.
  6. I'm sure it's already on here some where, and I've been searching but haven't come acrossed it. What is necessary to add an intercooler to my 280zxt? I don't see how it can fit but I see that everybody has done it... How do you keep the stock radiator and air filter? If there's a link for this I'd appreciate, thanks guys. well i found the info i needed, probably took me longer searching than it should have, lol oh well what electric fan are people using to replace the stock rad fan?
  7. thanks for the heads up Evan, i'll keep looking
  8. yeah, i think i'll go with that one from arizonazcar.com, thanks
  9. hey sorry, i didn't realize there was a turbo FAQ, i'll be sure and check it out before posting any further...
  10. yeah i'm not sure if i'm up to the task of running the pipe, i was thinking about possibly having a shop do that for me. just wanted to know what others thought might work for me. thanks guys, i'll keep looking on ebay.
  11. what intercooler should i use for my 280zxt? is there anything decent that i might be able to score cheap at a junk yard? not interested in a $1k kit. i'm only aiming for around 260 hp for a nice cruising car at around 15 psi??
  12. thanks for all the posts guys, i think i'm staying with my 280zx. the 260z deserves alot more time and money than what i have to put into it right now
  13. Hi all. I've been driving my 280zx since I was 16, (23 now) and I love it:burnout:. However, it's time for an upgrade. Looking for something with more power so I've picked up a running L28et to use, but I'm not sure what body to use, my 280zx I've been driving or a 260z my dad has sitting around rotting The 260z is lighter and i like the look, but what would be the advantages of the 280zx? I apologize if this is a ridiculous question or something already posted.....
