  1. Yeah, the coilovers are going to have to wait until I go back home in a few months. Until then I was thinking about cutting the springs an inch or so... will the spring rate be unbearable at that point? And as for the bumper, It has all my dumb required stickers on it to be street legal out here, so I must deal with the goofiness of it for the time being. Thanks for the complements!
  2. I LOVE the convenience of the Dzeus fittings! I am considering filling in the gap though but leaving a very small gap between the panel and car. That does look like the YZ kit, and honestly that car was the one that first started my love for widebody Z cars Here are some pictures of the wheels mounted. No more battleship you can see the bigger pics on the site in my sig.
  3. I would like to get around 500 for the wheels and Ill demount the tires for you. However, I already promised the spacers to someone else. The wheels are 4x100 and the standard honda offset.
  4. The old tires are completely bald, but the wheels Im considering selling, shipping from out here would be rediculous though. They are 17x7" Glenn, The dust caps fit perfectly. They must have made note about what size to use after you had issues. The original front bumper was actually the early 260 bumper. I just pulled off all the rubber and compressed the original shock absorbers.
  5. Haha... well they were about 2400 including shipping out here to Hawaii. Rushforth has something similar to these and they are a lot cheaper. but they triple in price for anything over 10 inches wide and those tires were about the same price as Kumo's (189 each) and they are getting alot of good talk http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-z06-discussion/1673048-vredestein-sessanta-tires-anyone-heard-about-these.html I should be able to post some pics of them installed today if I finish triming the fiberglass flares
  6. I finally got my wheels and tires!!! I will be installing them in the next few days 17x11" Custom made wheels by BOZE Forged and 315/35/17 Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta tires
  7. Alright, so I finally have time to do this! The kit is all roughly installed. I still need to dzus the front fenders and paint/trim/body work. I also cut out the quarter panels. I cut the outers along with the circumference of the wheel wells and the inners where they started to bend down into the quarters. I then welded in a piece of metal I cut from the hood of a honda civic (which is the only thing those are good for IMO ) And my wheels arived!!!!!!!! 17x11" Custom made wheels by BOZE Forged and 315/35/17 Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta tires What do you guys think?
  8. Yeah, It is an experiment with an already 25% bondo hood. I was wanting to figure out something unique and I thought it was worth a try. I think it will look alot better once I cut the front opening, cut out the existing hump and smooth everything out. Also Im going to cut it down a little, its a bit tall for my taste still.
  9. So, my car got hit a few months back and the chicks insurance gave me enough money to go ahead and do the 280YZ conversion I've been eying. Here is the link to my Car Domain page where I'm giving a writeup on my progress. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/3131077/2 What do you guys think? Any suggestions so far?
  10. They look really similar to the American Racing "Libra's" that are used on the Datsun Roadsters. The Libra's are getting very rare and hard to find. You might be able to sell these to the roadster crowd if you ask around.
  11. I have the stock suspension right now but I do plan on going the T3 coilover and weld-on camber plate route. It would probably be best to be a little aggressive on the backspacing since I can always get spacers. I'm going to have to wait until the kit comes in so I can make all the measurements and I'll go from there. Its probably still going to be a while before I can afford wheels, but I figured I'd test the waters and see whats available so I can start planing. Thanks for the compliment. It was looking really nice, very unmolested for its age, but last month some chick hit me and crushed my headlight bucket and buckled my fender But her insurance covered it so I decided to spend the $2600 on the 280YZ kit.
  12. Thanks Dudeboy I'll give him a call. Are you running any spacer on those? I figured 4.5 inches of backspacing would cause the wheel to hit your suspension. What is the acceptable range on these cars? I would like to get diamonds but they are just so ugly. and with a 17" wheel I wouldn't be able to stand it. I would go for something smaller but there just isn't a good tire selection for anything with that tire diameter and width in any other wheel size. If you go to a 15" or 16" wheel it seems like you would have to go with a 50-60 profile and it would be huge!
  13. No, I have the stock 4x114.3 bolt pattern. Which is why I'm pretty much going to need to have a custom wheel made. I just got an e-mail from Jason Rushforth and it was a little disheartening. I need to fill the wheel wells and you can put up to 335 series tires in this kit. I was hoping to use a 17x11 because I would be able to use both a 315 or 335 tire. Its not recommended that you put a 315 on any narrower than a 10.5" wide wheel. 315/35r17 is also a fairly affordable and easy to find tire size. The backspacing is no issue, as I can just use the FWD wheel adapter that I'm using now to use the Konig wheels. This will also give me plenty of brake caliper clearance. Does anyone have any other ideas of wheel/tire packages that are available? Or what are you guys with the 280YZ kits running?
  14. I'm planning on putting the 280YZ kit on my car and I'm going to need some drastically wider wheels. Ive been searching for a 17x11 wheel for a while now and I was considering Kodiak wheels but at $700 a wheel I would have to sell my body to the night to afford them. I did find another company that seems a bit more affordable. Also, I noticed that a 300C forum got a group buy with them and got these discounts: 10% off our internet pricing- 5 sets 12% off our internet pricing- 10 sets 17% off our internet pricing- 15 sets 18% off our internet pricing- 20 sets So... yeah... someone should get on that... Anywho, they are called Rushforth Wheels http://www.rushforthwheels.com/. Has anyone bought any of these before? They look pretty nice for the money. (still an arm and a leg, but I will be able to keep my dignity to purchase them ) They are 2-piece and compleatly customizable. Im thinking about getting the Rated-X fully polished in 17x11 with something like a 3.5" backspace. And use 315/35R17 tires. I sent them an e-mail for a quote but havent got anything back yet. What do you guys think?
  15. I am in the process of getting PRK now. The Marines will completely pay for it so I figured it would be dumb not to. LASIK permanently weakens your eyes and its possible to wrinkle the flap in the event of trauma. I think PRK is the way to go, although it is more painfull and takes alot longer for your vision to stablize, you never really have to worry about it. Also you cant fly an aircraft in the Navy/Marines if you have LASIK, only PRK.
  16. Oh Snap! Thats a good point. But dont worry, Ive still got a pocket full of change and Im all out of quarters! So get ready for som $0.05 ones
  17. That would be pretty cool. I would need to find a better way to paint it though. It was very hard to get a smooth finish, I ended up just basicaly pouring the paint in the recess and using a razorblade to make a neat break to silver. It would have probably worked better if I took the time to use spray paint and a self etching primer.
  18. Wow... where do you keep the Flux-Capacitor?
  19. http://www.japanesenostalgiccar.com/article.cgi?section=profiles&article=nissanLaurel1976 OMG! This thing is beautiful! I have never seen one of these before. It has almost a muscle car feel to it, like the old Celica but better IMO. This is a pretty neat magazine too. Is anyone familiar with it?
  20. So I was on duty last night and I found me a little project to keep me from falling asleep. The Datsun badge on my horn pad was chipping so I figured I would do something about it. I scraped the rest of the paint off and used some paint I had lying around and made it the old red & blue logo. Its surprising how much it brightens up the dash, and for <1 hour spent, you cant beat it.
  21. The way I understand it is that you calculate the length based on what RPM you desire peak torque. And then you want the smallest cross sectional area that you can get without loosing horsepower. How large the area is depends on the displacement of the motor and how long the runner is. However in looking deeper into this I'm reading many theories about this, and alot of them contradict each other. One is that you want the diameter of the runner to be 80-90% the size of your intake valve. Does anyone else have a better understanding, or maybe experience with this?
  22. I have been looking into creating a custom intake manifold for my Chevy 4.3L and I found a really good link explaining the different types of manifold designs, with pros/cons and some calculations. http://victorylibrary.com/mopar/intake-tech-c.htm Its all relating to V8 motors but good info non the less. Also, with intake runner lengths a good calculation is: N x L = 84,000 where N represents the desired engine rpm to tune for, L is the length in inches from the opening of the runner tube to the valve head, and 84,000 is a constant. Just use algebra to find the factor that you are looking for. Hope this helps someone as it has me
  23. I DD mine, however, I bought a car for $300 to drive when I break the Z (which is all the time) Its a 78 Dodge Aspen and after some rattle-can work and some wheels and tires lying around the shop its unique enough for me to drive
  24. Wall-Mart is selling Dickies coveralls now.
