  1. a build up of crap in water jackets can block heat transfer from the block to the water and prevent the cooling system from doing it's job. (not good) I think it's possible for a car that running hot (above 210°) to give you "Lean" reading because any leftove fuel could still be burning in the manifolds & exhaust system. I'd flush the cooling systemreal good and then check out the Air fuel ratio & temp. and don't let her get up to 270° cause your actual cyl head temps will be MUCH higher than that and will contine to rise even after you cut off the car. I also read that the car is rarely driven, There is a nylon "sock" on the bottom of you fuel pump inlet this will get hard brittle and implode the pump will then suck it in. usualy the pump will fail when this happens but I have heard of some Toy's & Nissan's that continue to run, just poorly. another thing that could screw you on a caw that's not run alot is Water in the gas tank or water in the filter most modern fuel filters will stop the flow of fuel if the element gets water in it. If the element gets wet it will swell up and it's pores will close up If only a little water went through the filter olny part will be closed. good luck
  2. The trans I have for my '95 Nissan pickup is a FS5R30A I have seen the same tranny listed as also being the same 5-speed used in the R33 Skyline GT-S (RWD). Is it the same tranny? I would think the R33's 5-speed would have better gearing than my ruck trans. would it be as simple as swaping the front 1/2 of the skyline's (RB20?) trans case with the truck (VG30) case, or is there more to it than that?
  3. The guy just sent me this in a E-mail >>>>>Tom, Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â It is a T3 with a 45 trim compressor with a .42 A/R, a 69 trim turbine witha .48 A/R compressor. It has an internal wastegate with the standard T3 4 bolt in, 3 bolt out. It comes complete with flanges and gaskets which most people don't sell with theirs. Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â This is a turbo I actually ordered for a 2.8lt engine I was working on. This project was put on the back burner pending the completion of a another much more powerful project! It's on the smallish side but will deliver the power you are looking for efficently and still spool rapidly. I've also tried to price it well and including the flanges and gaskets, I believe it is an excellent buy.<<<<< He also sent me a link to turbonetics compressor map for it T3 map
  4. Lockjaw: I need a custom manifold anyway I go. But I thought that a straight T4 would be way to big. I e-mailed him and he has a T-3 W/ internal wastegate. He's going to E-mail me the specs tomorow. Zcarsmakemyheadhurt: """If your interested I could maybe put together a more bolt on deal that is gonna make power where you need it.""" you have my attention. If you can supply a good T3 in the $200-400 range or if you can make custom turbo manifolds you'll have my buisness. I see you have a 800# do you have a web site?
  5. Ebay item Sounds like a good deal. But I don't see a wastegate so I would need a external one. and I think a T04, adj. wastegate and then add my need to go faster and it would lead to a quick death for my motor. I think a T04 is too much turbo for a sock VG30E W/ 9.1 compression.
  6. You say it ran up to 270° will it get that hot just siting at idle, or only under boost? Maybe is't a cooling problem
  7. I had a nice neat paragraph wirten as to what I wanted to know but I deleted it by mistake so here I go again. I am turbo charging my VG30E (stock guts) powered nissan pickup and was wondering what turbo would work best a older T3 (85-87?) or the T25 (88-9?) I don't plan on big boost ever my horsepower goal is 220-250hp. Iv'e also got 9:1 comperession. Alos where can I get a good reman turbo? I figure I should have the turbo in my hand before I try to make a manfold Thanks, Tom
  8. NIVO88T: Do you know the part# for the later Z trans? You can make a VG33E-T if you use the VG30E-T's crank, oil pump & front cover in the VG33E block (Frontier/Xtera) would probably make prety good power.
  9. Will my truck (VG30E) still idle properly if I where to install a small breather/filter on the hard pipe that feeds the air regulator? or would that cause a problem of some kind? Thanks, TomD
  10. Can anyone here make a header or know some one that can. It dosen't have to be prety as long as it works. thanks tom
  11. Just wondering how boost will effect the ingition system on my truck. I have a factory knock sensor but I don't know how much control it has in relation to how much it can retard the timing at any one time. I was thinking useing a MSD BTM-6 later down the road when I want more boost but for starters I'll only have 5-8psi. Thanks, Tom
  12. I just ran out and checked, my left frame rail is about 2-3" from the manifold. and my upper control arm mounts just under it. there is also some steering linkage right there. so nat an area I plan to cut all to hell. (had enough cuting when I owned a Fiero) But on the other hand I can sit a large car battery just above there and shut the hood turn the wheel even W/ the A/C compressor still instaled.
  13. SleeperZ: know anyone who can make a Manifld? The motor mount thing isin't going to happen. The 300ZX boys that go form N/A to Turbo have to swap to a turbo X-member the trucks don't anything even close since they are body -on- frame unlike the uni-body 300ZX. and since I have so much room above the wheel well that prety much where the trubo will go. Could a good exhaust shop make a manifold if I had the proper flanges madeup elsewhere?
  14. SleeperZ: What do you mean by "adjustments"? Also my Truck is a '95 and came stock with a MAF sensor and not the old doggie door type. let me explain what I did so that we are on the same page,I'm not sure if we are right now. I took a MAF sensor for my truck and removed the actual sensor(little black box on the side). The sensor is mounted on the MAF sensor houseing by two philips head screws. I then crushed a peice of 3" pipe until I had enough area to mount the MAF on the pipe I driled a 1/2" hole for the "hot wire" and mounted the sensor W/ two screws. looking through the pipe the sensor sticks out into the air stream about 3/4" Lockjaw: My fear is that when the sensor is mounted in the stock housing it gets all it's through a 1/4" hole and is then vented through a small slot at the back of the housing. One would think if the sensor is exposed to 100% of the air going by it would think more air than normal is going by and run the truck rich. but the truck is running fine w/ no smell of unburned gas and no check engine light. If this MAF setup turns out working well I will place it after the BOV so that it only reads the actual amount of air going into the motor when I go Turbo and I'll be able to get rid of the HP snatching MAF housing I can snap a pic or two but since I'm on WebTv clasic I can't get it online. If someone has a scaner though I can send a pic.
  15. I took apart a spare MAF sensor I had laying aroud so that I just had the actual sensor in my hand and ended up mounting it to a 3" peice of exhaust pipe. I mounted this on my truck and started it up and it ran GREAT throttle response is awsome much better than before. probably because the stock MAF only has about a 2" bore now I have a near 3" bore (DUH) But now the to "Hot Wires" are out in the open air stream. I was wondering if this is bad for the sensor or the truck? anyone else ever do this? there has got to be a reason more peopple don't do it. Thanks Tom
  16. Anyone know how to get a hold of this guy? I need a custom manifoldfor my truck maybe this guy could help.
  17. Oh no it's a V6 VG30E Sory. The only problem I'm realy having is mounting the turbo. JWT has been a great help in giving me alot of usefull info on the fuel system after I get the turbo on but they seem lost as to how to get a turbo onto the motor. I can't just use a 300ZX manifold. If I where to use a 300ZX (84-89) the turbo will sit right where my driver side motor mount. But unline a ZX I have lots of room above the manifold. I plan on runing a T3 I only plan on 5-8psi of boost since my CR is 9:1. A question: Would it hurt to mount a 300ZX (85-97) T-3 turbo upside down. will the oil flow/drain properly? Thanks tom d
  18. Hello let me start by saying cool set of forums. I am just geting started Turbocharging my 1995 Nissan KingCab pickup. I could use ANY info on this install, lins to related pages and/or info on places to get parts. Anyone know where I can get a custom manifold? there was a guy selling "Log" style manifolds on EBay but I can't find them any more. Thanks, Tom
