  1. Hi, Looking at http://www.edelbrock.com/automotive/crate951_injected.html 5.7lts, thats gonna be the biggest cc engine in the whole south west (here ). To be honest most the spec is gobbledi goop to me, it mentions an inlet manifold, do I then have to source throttle bodies or whatever for this or is it all there? How different is the mounting gonna be? I'm waiting for the uk Z club to get a shipment of JTRs V8 manual so I have nothing to reference I guess if I get the manual and get the engine in I can then look to what cooling and transmission I will need? Argh lets cross bridges when we come to them
  2. Pop, very good Thanks v much, now I just gotta wait for a good exchange rate Maybe I convert to Euros, then to US $ heh.
  3. Oh and if I can get it to sound like Darius' 240Z then bonus Supercharged tho isn't it?
  4. Hi, Not being able to find a suitable good vfm British engine for my Z I'm looking to get a Chevy block. I am quite taken by the Edelbrock crate engines as its seems a nice off the peg option and the 'crate' should make shipping safer I'm not that hot on engines and so this is going to be a good learning experience I hope. I was wondering how complete they come? What would you guys recommend transmission wise? How do these engines rate and are they reasonable value for money? I'm after the best bang for my pound, or buck rather I think I may go for the Fuel Injected Performer RPM E-Tec 9.5:1 Engine, fuel injection may hopefully increase economy a tiny amount. Not really being able to ring Edelbrock or go look at the engine it would be nice to know it'll fit with work Anyone any experiences? What trick bits can I fit? Does anyone have a dyno for one of these please? Argh so many questions Thanks v much,
  5. Hello, Can anyone tell me the rough weight of the standard 240z engine please. Just wanted to know for when I think about what Chevy (probably) lump I'm gonna stick in. Thanks v much
  6. Hey, How feasible are RWD Skyline running gear and engine transplants or even Supra gear and lump? Anyone done this or is it just plain silly? Thanks
  7. Hi ZRossa: Our expensive parts probably have to do with our triple tax system of 17.5% so every taxable item gets 52.5% added to its value by the time its been bought, sold and the person has earnt his/her wage. Or something v much like that. Oh well Good point about engines being 'foreign' to tuners over here, hadn't thought of that! Thanks Jens: To be honest I really do not want a BMW engine in my car, I'd sooner stay stock than drive with a BMW lump under the bonnet and it wouldn't really be something to brag about here . Thanks v much for the links tho, I'm gonna check them out straight after work. Another gearbox recommendation of a Supra box! Oh what to chose Thanks v much
  8. Thanks very much The best Rover engine out the crate I have found is from RPi but they are mainly designed for Land Rovers and ATVs really so only make 350bhp, which sounds ok but for a $10k 5.2 engine thats not so hot. I have e-mailed a company called Real Steel who are importers of Chevy/Ford engines and are THE Rover people I've heard so I'll see what they say. I was hoping for maybe a really good 6 speed box, I was recommended a Richmond 6 speed? Hmm so much choice and variety Cheers ,
  9. Hi, Getting hold of the M5 engine would be twice as expensive as an equivalent Chevy lump, if not more As for TVR, would have to buy a £50k car to get one Good ideas tho, nevermind. Thanks
  10. Hi, Yeah, I do worry about how well the car is balanced I suppose but my daily drive is a Peugeot 306, front engine fwd so has no where near 50/50 and that will out handle any Datsun in this country at least. I suppose I should go on availability and parts prices for over here and get on and order the book you mentioned, thanks. I don't want to kick off WW3 but are there any blatant fors and againsts with regard to the different engine manufacturers please? Like Mopar great but a bastard to fit or Ford great but whatever...? Thanks for your help, Russ
  11. Hi all, Just getting my Z now and I'm thinking of how I'm gonna try to keep up with you and your V8s We can get everything here imported but the easiest engine for me would be a Rover V8, 5.2. Thing is it makes 380bhp for a $10k engine but its a fair bit lighter than say a Chevy. So what would you recommend? I don't want something so heavy it messes up the handling but I don't wanna feel cheated and wish I'd picked a bigger lump. I guess Chevy or Ford is the best option as you rarely hear of Mopar here. I'm not really sure what I'm asking but I'm confused as where best to start. Looking for a good fast road engine thats perfectly driveable but fine for track days and the strip. Of course will be wanting running gear and brakes etc to suit. Can anyone recommend some good websites or books for me to get please? Looking forward to getting some American muscle under my bonnet err hood rather Cheers Russ
  12. I'm sorry if anyone has already said but I don't have time to read this entire thread. That car is a UK Ford Ka or Ka2 or Ka3. Tiny little crappy super micro car thing. The quad conversions are quite big over here. Another example
