I'm no expert on US cars but aren't the stangs not THAT quick? Whats the 0-60 and 1/4?
-
I can't imagine shooting someone else's car with a paintball gun is legal in any state...
-
Thanks for the reply 260 2+2 are the rarest here in the UK, only 600 came in I think. I'm not too sure about it now though having found out some pics, tbh I dont much like the extra roof lump at the back... Hmm I dunno... Thanks for your time Russ

Hey all, Just a quickie, I always wanted a 240z but I just got offered a 260z 2+2, I know the differences between the 240/260 and that the 2+2 is around 12" longer, and therefor more stable at speed? Are there any obvious fors/againsts you can give me please?? I will have to pay road tax cos its a 77/78 car but I can live with that... Cheers

Make sure its washed off asap, the local paintball centre guys car got attacked once which seemed funny till the paint bumbled...
-
You absolutely right... the awd would be a wicked project but I simply wouldn't have the time/patience really. Patience I have plenty of but I don't want it to take 20yrs to get it rolling and by which time no matter how good my awd Z is a modern diddy men car would out perform it Still would be interesting to see how other people have done it.
-
I just want a Z that looks almost stock but goes like **** off a stick and is as good on a trackday as it is up the strip. Jack of all trades you may say. I was gonna go 350cu SBC and such but then I thought why not try to keep it Jap Nissan/Datsun and I've always wanted dump valves so... Hmmm
-
Thanks for your knowledge, much appreciated. Maybe more sense to spend the time/money on a rwd solution and more engine work and probably have a quicker car to boot. It still needs to go around corners tho. Thanks very much mate, mad how hi tech these skylines are Hmm not one to shy away from a challenge tho Erm hmmm
-
All I have managed to dig up so far
-
I see what you mean by that intercooler! I'm looking to keep the Z fairly standard looking so it'll need a front bumper (although it can be modified). Looks like it may not be entirely possible... Cool article tho thanks
-
That far forward! Eeek Ok for a start I don't want it too far forwards, it's gotta go round corners too Trouble is I have no Skyline to go measure. Theres no way I could reverse mount the engine or something to bring the front drive further back? Argh gearboxes. Hmmm Maybe I should look to a different car for the AWD, Audi TT anyone? Lots to consider, btw the Z I will start from will be bare shell so any amount of work is no trouble and I'm not in a hurry so. Lets talk it out and throw ideas about anyway just for the sake of it, tis an interesting thing isn't it?

Hey all, Had been planning a Corvette lump, Borg Warner T56 bla bla conversion for my 240 but while at work I thought why not do a Skyline conversion. I know sod all so please excuse my ignorance but how feasible and how good would a older skyline awd/4wd running gear conversion, prolly skyline box and the R34 GTR lump be? I guess someone has probably done it. I'm a bit worried about the front wheel drive bit, i.e. I expect driveshafts would have to be shortened and what angle would they be at?? Maybe too steep. Cheers Russ

Edelbrock crate engines, newbie help pls
Russ replied to Russ's topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
Hi, Yeah thats a good idea thanks Only problem is I have yet to find an engine as a whole that I think is good value for its output. I do like the Edelbrock engines but when you compare it to other engines which offer higher output for less money... Hmm Maybe it would be good to get the details of an engine build that works really well and replicate it over here, swapping parts for better grade components as I see fit etc. Thanks for your help, -
Hi all, I know <nothing so I thought I would start a thread on how to get traction in hybridzs. I guess this could be from traction bars, various suspension tricks, launch control software etc all to get your standing 1/4 time down. Post your views and experiences and maybe we can all benefit from eachothers experience. Cheers

Edelbrock crate engines, newbie help pls
Russ replied to Russ's topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
Hi, Yeah one company that springs to mind is Real Steel, I have their catalogue and its full of lots of goodies but they only mention low output pre built engines. I guess ideally I'd find the spec and part numbers of a combination that works well and is proven and build it myself or just bite the bullet and get something good shipped. Cheers -
Hi all, Just wondering if anyone has any experience of these. They seem to be a good performance options but we're worried about their low end drivability and how it suffers because of this? Any experience please? Thanks v much,

Hiya, Thanks for that, loadsa engines! Trouble is I'm in the UK so to warrant getting an engine shipped over that I cannot see or even shake the hand of the seller, well it would have to be from someone with a v good reputation that is used to shipping world wide. Hence the Edelbrock crates looked like a good deal until my friend pointed to the Speed O Motive deals, all they want is a pair of pretty looking rocker covers Just gotta try to dig out the bad report on them. Thanks. -
This is all very good stuff guys, makes for useful reading Try to figure out a solution within 12months please so I can make use of your good ideas and knowledge Sorry to lower the intelligence of the thread a little but apart from the grade of metal and such is there very much to stop me making my own mounts? I'm ok at welding and can practice lots. I also have a structural engineer friend who designed the electricity pilons you see all across the uk The reason I ask is I was considering an engine swap in my 306 (read small uk hatch), we were gonna put the 2ltr turbo in from the 406 but it would require different mounts. These are cast jobbies and the expert on it around here said he wouldn't trust anyones welding to modify the new ones and so the only option is to get my current mounts heated up and remoulded somehow or something like that. Last thing I want to do is do all this trick welding, drive her up the road and have an engine on the floor with lots of broken bits Cheers guys

Would that stuff fit under the bonnet (hood)?? Looks nice I agree but are they just covers or? Do you think they'd take any boost pressure? Nice looks, nicer price tho heh.

Hi The weather hasn't been that bad lately, it all depends on what you want, I couldn't handle the sun all the time, sounds silly I know. Least our air quality is v good, we don't have earthquakes, no volcanos and the flooding isn't THAT bad Southampton is about an 1 1/2 hours from me here, in Taunton Somerset but when I go back to uni next week its 30mins from me in Bournemouth. I think if I had to live in the midlands or up north for two years I'd wanna leave the country too tho -

Hi, Thanks v much for that I'm gonna go for a very similar spec engine but built here I think, as its cheaper to get the edelbrock bits and do a copy here than get one shipped. Thanks for that, gonna start thinking about it more seriously v soon. Just gotta get myself some JTR mounts
