  1. ok well lets see where do i start??? the rear end is 87 300zx posi with 4.10 gears. everything is solid mounted, i have 240 tokico springs on my 280 strut housings so my car is bout 2" off the ground. i have cut into the tunnel and relocated the rear sway bar in order to fit my exhaust in there. it is 3" off the downpipe it goes into a 3" in3" out dynomax race magnum round muffler to a 3" mandrel bent 90 into 5" for bout 1.5 feet and out the side of the car in front of the pass tire. i have cut out part of the body and the seatbelt bucket in order to tuck it up in there. as for the fuel and ignition. it is stock fuel setup and MSD 6AL with the boost retard i have the timing set at 2 degrees to compensate for boost pressure. the flywheel is a lightweight aluminum one. i run no intercooler at the moment presently but i am running a custom water injection setup that i made. i am also running a switch setup i made to fire off the cold start injector whenever the car sees 4 pounds and over of boost. not sure bout the turbo?!?! i believe the cam is a stock turbo cam not toooo sure though. the head is a P90A one with hydraulic lifters....i have pictures of my car but i do not know how to attach the pics to a reply!?!?! if anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated. the coolest thing is when it backfires!!!!! i shoot flames roughly 2 - 4 feet out the side of the car all depends on how hard i run the car depends on how large the flame is..
  2. just made my exhaust a couple weeks ago. 3" downpipe, to 5" exhaust out the side of my car. i noticed that off the line acceleration changed it is not as fast off the line but when i hit 25 pounds of boost the car slams your head into the seat. if anyone has any ideas on what i can do to make up for the off the line acceleration would be greatly appreciated. if anyone wants to see some pics let me know and i will try and figure out how to post them. - D
  3. the dynomax turbo Race Only mufflers, oval ones are pretty sweet, nice sound not too loud but definately a very aggressive sound!!! Dave
  4. hey guys just curius if anyone else out there has done what i have. I am currently running a 3 inch mandrel bent exhaust (made exhaust myself) out the side of my car through the body. looks pretty good will probably look a lot better when i get the stupid thing painted . so has anyone else gotten pulled over by police for shooting flames out the side of their car? this just happened to me the other day. finally i have seen the flames quite damn impressive if i say so shoot out about 1-2 feet from car. stupid cop said my car didn't sound very good and i should have it looked at by a shop (little did he know). guess i ought to lean it out a smidge... nah..... well i will try and get some pics or even video of it and post it if i can figure out how. Well this is the stuff that i have already as spares for another car i am building. the diff is already a built one with 4.38 and it's a posi which has been tightened up not quite sure of the break point of the posi though, i can find out later. as for the tires i would like to put something like a 265 or 275 50 16. not quite sure how big i can go yet. i plan on putting the mid 80's turbo T5 tranny in the car. i figured the gears would help me pull out of a corner alot harder than say a 3.5 or 3.7. but i posted these things here for a reason so i can get a response from other people who have done this or know more about it than i do so i don't end up shelling out alot of time and money and end up with a disappointment in the end. i truly appreciate all the feedback everyone has given me and i hope to get more so i can make the right decision. as far as extrude honing goes i heard second hand that having it done was the best option versus porting myself..... thank you all for your time in reading this and replying with your thoughts.
  7. the 4.38 gears are to compensate for 16 inch rims should drop me down to a 4.10 or around there. the cartech turbo i believe is a t4 not quite sure though, i can't find any markings or stampings on the cases at all. as for the nitrous the 25 shot is enough to help spool the turbo but more importantly drop the air charge temperature even more without too much of a fear of detonation.
  8. i'm building a 400+ hp l6 turbo motor was curius about people's feelings on proper camshaft brand and specs?? the head i hope to have extrude honed and stainless valves. i have heard of many different cam brands and profiles not quite sure which is better than the other, so far people say Isky is great..... well here are the plans if it helps.... water injection set up, electramotive tec III, 240sx TB, Cartech turbo, external wastegate, 3.5 inch exhaust, Blitz Boost controller, Supra IC, 4.38 gears w/posi, 20+ lbs boost, approximately 25 shot nitrous to help spool turbo (custom made jet) thanx for any info that you all can give me with this project....
  9. a buddy of mine had a neighbor who had an old late 70's vw van. he got just a little wild hair up his ass and put a 911 twin turbo motor where the old 1200cc motor used to be. he brought it by a few times. the thing was extremely fast.
  10. 500 sounds bad ass, let me know what install and performance are like and i very well might put mine in my 280. quite an impressive engine to say the least.
  11. heya sleeper i am running a 3.5 inch full exhaust on my '77 280. i am running the dynomax magnafow muffler. gives an excellt kick ass sound at idle and when i hit boost up to 20 lbs the car is rather quiet not as loud as you think it would be. also there is no drop in power either i have proved this with an l28et on an engine dyno swapping out mufflers.
  12. thanx tony. i am trying to get a mid to late 80's intercooler off of a supra to use for now until i can afford a real one. i have some old 300TT stock intercoolers but they appear way too small to use. as well as i had a problem today where it seemed as if though i temporarily seized my turbo. coldn't create boost for bout 3 minutes very strange. wish i knew what it was..... well if ya got any ideas i am all ears... once again thanx.

  14. i'd love to sell it man. actually it is a '76 cad sedan de-ville with 69??? miles al original. the interior is in mint condition and the paint is pretty sweet. needs a trans over haul somethin bad though. i have been asking 2k for all of it. i have all the original FI and ac. right now it has a double pumper 850 holley, edelbrock intake biggect comp cam you can buy for it. had it on the dyno when the trans let go was in the neighborhood of 450 rwhp, and 500 ftlb's. if you interested give me a shout.
  15. when i go do this tb, do i have to create a new intake going from the turbo to the tb itself?? i am still using a stock zxt intake on that side (can't find anyone else to make me one that will work nicely).other than that i am now just looking around for one. my local jy's say '74 mercedes what?!?! so they local jy's are useless around here. maybe might have to go to dealer hope not. well any other go fast info i need please let me know and i will start on that as well. i want this motor to be kick *#@ when i put it into my 240. the 280 is just the trial period.   16. cool that's a lot lighter than my 280 is right now. and yes it has fullinterior and some other kinda cool things like the power mirrors off a mid 80's 300zx and there are no lines where the spoiler attaches or the head light buckets. overall it appears to be a car in excellent shape given it's age and how long it has been sitting around.
  17. well subject says it all. been tinkering with the idea of doing a v8 motor swap in my 280 cause my 280 motor goes into the 240 i am getting. Would like an opinion on a motor. Everyone wants to be uniques with their Z so i think this is unique enough. as follows: Oldsmobile Diesel 350 Block Gas conversion Bored out 125 thousandths i think not sure 425 heads??? not sure again different crank 114 octane gas Kit says it turns it into a 493 CI small block, pushing out 892 HP at crank, and 765 ftlbs all under 6000 rpm. well like i said thinking bout being original. if anyone is interested let me know or have any other suggestions, i also have a 500CI cadillac EFI motor with 70,000 on it. Thinking bout being unique with this car seeing how it is my Toy. any response would be great. Thanx
  18. it has a carbon fiber hood, carbon and glass rear hatch, glass roof, fenders, doors, quarters, front and rear bumpers, and urethane air dam. it was a project car of someone's 6-8 years ago and has been sitting around for a while. if you have a weight guesstimate it would be great. Thanx

  20. been hunting around for a new throttle body for my L30ET. noticed that people on here were talking a lot about 240sx TB. Is there a certain year that i need to look for or certain motor? any help would be greatly appreciated. Dave
  21. anyone out there have any ideas on how much of a weight difference it is going to be going from a 280z to a 71 240 with all carbon and glass body panels??? curius how much better or more obnoxious it is going to be.when i go look at it again i wll take pics of it. pretty nice to be getting it for free.... any knowledge anyone has would be great..   22. in terms of stand alone engine management i hear many different views on each. is one better or easier to use than the other, and which works well with the Z. right now i have my hands on an electramotive tec II system, but before i put it in i would like to seesome of the bugs it has worked out first. don't want to be hitting 20 + pounds of boost and have it lean out on me. that would not be good. thank you for your time in reading this.
  23. Have a dilemna here for anyone who might be able to offer me some advice. I have a 11/76 280Z with the zx turbo on it, modified AFM, 3.5 inch exhaust, paxton FPR, MSD 6AL w/Boost Retard, and a Water Injection setup i made. i would like to go to a bigger injector so that i may run higher boost levels safely. if someone could help me out on what my best setup is for my car it would be greatly appreciated. I am also going to be running a 50 shot of NOS as well. my intercooler will be installed soon it's from a mid to late 80's supra turbo. any advice would be greatly appreciated if you need to know more info please feel free to ask and i will send more. thanx for your time in reading this.
