Sources for 17x12 rims??
Gixxer Squid replied to Gixxer Squid's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
The last 3 pix you posted is exactly what i am looking for, you say Panasport makes these? They will make these to order and custom offsets? J Uploaded with ImageShack.us -
Trying to find some decent choices for rims. Seems like CCW only company I can find in my searches but they don't have many options in the 4 bolt pattern and not going to change this. Suggestions. Forged? Currently running the 9.5 RBR on all 4 corners but need something larger. J

This is a really nice build. Lots of attention to detail. I have a 4 year work in progress thats in the paint shop getting that final detail and it will be done. Almost all the exact components you have in your car (except I stuck with inline 6). Cant wait to see your end result. J

Thanks. Pretty sure I am going to do it anyhow. Unfortunately its going to be the manifold only and not the head where exhaust ports match anyhow which really may mean I am not getting much benefit. I guess when I pul it off and take a look inside to see if there are areas for improvement or air flow restrictions I will do so. Maybe there will be more improvement on the inlet and exhaust side of the turbo, will determine that as well. Car gonna be in the shop a while so may as well get dirty while its apart. Since I will have it off, thoughts on ceramic coating it or I think I saw, Jett hot. I would LOVE to have inside of the cast manifold done too, guess they have you sign a waiver, lol but saw many people on threads that have had this done, would assume air movement if coated right would significantly flow air better.

Thanks Tony, Obviously its not going to hurt anything so I will so some porting when the turbo is pulled this week. Regarding the pix....?? I accessed hybridz from my girlfriend computer and photos show up in thread, not sure why you can't see?? Photo's showing up for anyone else?? http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/823/img0439hyc.jpg/ http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/193/img0441vi.jpg/ http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/9/img0434ko.jpg/ http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/171/img0435zw.jpg/ http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/18/img0444bw.jpg/

Tony, All Jeff said was that he had porting work done and I saw his handmade exhaust manifold. Didn't really discuss whether there was noticeable differences.. John: Guess it boils down to what you consider "other efficiency" mods. Car is Rebello built stroker, cam,oil & intercooler, gt 35, new baffled tank with internal fuel pump, OS Gikken LSD, Full suspension on all four corners, larger stainless fuel lines etc..... List way to long. Ended up going with the Kumho 701's 275 rear. Not happy with the turbo itself coming on after 4k rpm so gonna change a few things, ( ID2000 injectors and converting to E85) I have spent lots on this baby and while I have turbo off, thought I might be able to do some additional tweaks for air flow, just trying to figure it if spending the extra will make that much difference in the set up. Obviously not necessarily from a HP or Torque, but if its going to be negligible in going to all the work to do this than I will spend money elsewhere. Few pix I just took. James

Guess I should have read further.....its already on my computer bookmark

Did lots of searching but little information here. Is there a benefit in porting the exhaust manifold. Yes it may spool quicker but does anyone have hard numbers to support this? Pulling turbo off to change some things and thinking I may pull exhaust manifold as well and do some porting and polishing if it may be worth it. Would obviously match to the gasket. I wouldn't mind having turbo spool a bit quicker but 100 rpm less may not be worth the time , money or hassle in pulling everything off. Thoughts? Much benefit in porting the 6 ports or main port feeding turbo?? J

Tire recommendations 17x9
Gixxer Squid replied to Gixxer Squid's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Street John primarily, It was intended for the track but have so much money into this already I don't think I have the balls to destroy it at the track, thats what my gixxer is for BTW, just got the OS Giken you sold to another member here thats proudly in my rearend now, I love it so far (besides tire spin 3:90 rearend) Burniator, Car is still in the shop getting some other major tweaks with full suspension from ground control, techno toy and arizona z car and we are waiting to get the new tires before setting up the control arms, camber etc etc so can't really answer on the understeer or over steer yet. Shop wants to steer me into the Hancook rs3's...... If I can get 5 thousand miles out of the tires I will be happy if their glue to asphalt regardless of how I am driving it. Initially looking at Hoosier A6 but that may be overkill and hear you get 2-3 times wear with the Kumho's Hankooks are less expensive and sure even the Kumhos are overkill for my application J Ride it hard and fast....... -
I have 17x9 on front and 17x9.5 on rear. Current 245 all around. Car is forced induction ( 400+) and nothing but wheel spin in first and second and occasionally third. Going with Kumho v710. I would rather keep tires all the same for occasional rotation but someone suggested 275/40 in rear and 245/40 in front. Opinions? I know I would loose rotation for sure which decreases the tire life on an already expensive tire....

Anyone have front strut tubes in good condition? Previous owner did hack job trying to put coil overs on and damaged tubes beyond repair. Thanks

building new electrical system, again...
Gixxer Squid replied to dippowit-z-'s topic in Turbo / Supercharger
So Dave is building you his 2nd 3.2 liter turbo huh Brian and Mark re did my entire electrical system and used the motor sport fuse box. We elimated all wiring that was not needed. Took some time for Mark to do it but very clean and nice. I added some HID head lights onto the current system that motorsports sells as well with no electrical porblems. J -
4 and 5 running rich and fouling plugs
Gixxer Squid replied to Gixxer Squid's topic in Turbo / Supercharger
Guess i could do that but got to take the fuel rail off to get to them which is a pain. Stroker motor. car is turbo charged, hence the post here. -
Running a tech 3r on brandnew engine with 650cc RC injectors and 4 and 5 keep fouling out after 100 miles or so causing car to run like crap. Pull all plugs after a short dirve and 1-3 and 6 are tan at tip and dry but 4 and 5 are black and slightly wet. Use cloth to dry off and put back in and run car for a minute and pull back out and they are wet again. Clueless unfortunately at the time on whether EMS can control the amount of fuel each injector deposits? Possible solutions as injectors are brandnew. I suppose if EMS can control that then a simple tune will solve this if each injector can be isolated. Running fuel pressure at 42 lbs. Thanks for input. J

Looking like its going to be black so far. Thanks for feedback thus far. J

Can't decide on white or black as I like the look of both. I want the overall theme of car to be a sleeper. Suggestions and comments welcome.

Think I have one lined up, THANKS A++++++

Highest advised compression to run with turbo?
Gixxer Squid replied to Gixxer Squid's topic in Turbo / Supercharger
I asked this question myself, going with the 89mm rather than the 90mm from what I understood. We are using a forged rod as well rather than the traditional 240z rod to get the 3.2. Apparently this is something he has had on the back table and the last project he was going to do this combination fell through so I am the "guinni pig." so to speak, LOL. Hell, could not be any worse than the 2 seats I have dropped already. James -

Great post. I towed the car to Rebello's and we decided to scrap the entire engine and start all over. Dave is going to build a 3.2 stroker with all the componets I currently have (t3/t4, meth, cam...) He is going to engine dyno tune it start to finish so we will be scrapping the old map as well which I just spent $600.00 for. Tired of throwing away money as I don't have Warrent Buffett's pockets. Going to install an EGT as well and really do this one right. I think the previous engine builder cut the seats to large and as you know, there is not much metal between the intake/exhaust valve seats to begin with and the heat as we suspect, may have cause some expansion and the seats dropped. Both seats dropped under full boost at different times. The previous engine builder had put larger valves in for better flow but may not have considered that he cut them to much with the amount of boost we want to run. I think as six shooter suggests that it really depends on the tune which is critical in running a high boost engine, as KTM may agree as well. I am hoping to have it back in 6 weeks, will post info when I get it. James -

Thanks for all the comments. I have an appointment this Friday with Dave Rebello. Going to scrap the new engine, less than 1k on it and start all over from scratch. Too many people had there hands in this thing before I got it and I would like to drive it more than 2 weeks before it goes back to the shop for 6 months. He wants to do the 3.2 stroker, I will talk to him about the cylander walls etc. Hopefully I will be back on the road before winter hits, LOL james -
Still looking, I know someone has one laying around somewhere....

Still waiting for the tuner to send me the info. Tim, you ask some great questions but I hate to admit that I am a bit ignorant about the logging and syncing because I am relying on someone else to do it. Like I said, the car has been in the shop a little over a year and I have not had enough time to really do my homework like I should. The wideband was just installed fairly recently by the tuner so I am unsure of how he did it but its under the passenger seat and hard to see who makes it without removing the seat. Greg, You have the best point, car has dropped 2 seats two different times. Talking with Rebello about starting all over with a 3.0 or 3.2 stroker and scrapping the piece of crap in there all together. What do you guys think? I am kinda in way to deep $$ to support the inline 6 at this time otherwise another engine build might suffice. I want to keep the orginality so to speak of the inline 6 though. BRAAP has told me that going to 9 to 1 would technically only yield an extremely small potential gain in HP and it would be better to go even lower to 7.5 to 1. Obviously I have more choices if I start with Rebello from scratch, I just want this one to be RIGHT!!! James
