I’m assembling a 1980 280ZX R200 differential using OEM gasket part #38353-N3111, and I’ve noticed the gasket has two different colored sides: one green and one grey.
I’ve seen conflicting information online about which side should face the iron differential housing and which should face the aluminum cover. Some say the green side (possibly coated?) should face the cover, while others suggest it should face the housing.
I’m planning to install the gasket OEM-style — no RTV or additional sealant, just the gasket itself. So getting the orientation right is critical to avoid leaks.
Can anyone confirm the correct orientation based on experience or Nissan documentation?
