Having to of course run the return line and I was hoping someone had pictures of maybe the l28et pan with where the bung is or if someone's got pictures of where they drilled in the pan to put the return bung.

Looking for another oil pan for my project. Anyone got one just laying around to sell and ship to the 66762 area?

Alright I've finally gotten things together with this new setup and where I figured the Damn thing to keep running without the starter being on. Tried thinking of a bunch of big and small stuff and still nothing. Setup right now is a holley 4 barrel turbo (basic draw through). Fuel pressure might be a little high but I can't accurately check it without it continuously running. And the only way for that is to hold the key in start and it will run. (Barely) I just need the Damn thing to run so I can check everything and figure out how to go about tuning but I can't keep it running with having to hold the key to start and keep it running. Once it fires up and I let off to the on position it immediately dies. Anyone got an idea of what else I can check before I pull the rest of my hair out? Thanks!

If you are still having clutch problems I have a solution. It was the same issue on my 73 z that had been sitting for years. Previous owner replaced all clutch hydrolics and still unable to shift into gear while running. The clutch disk is stuck on the input shaft. Usually it's greased so it can slide and when you press the clutch everything frees up. But since it had been sitting and no one pressed the clutch everything dried up and froze. Here's what to do to fix it. Get the rear end up off the ground. Get the tires off the ground and have the front wheels chocked and make sure it's solid so it won't move. Throw the trans in a high gear like 3rd or 4th press the clutch and then start the engine. Sometimes just a bump of it will get things to free up sometimes it takes cranking it a bit. You will notice when it let's go when the rear tires don't move when you try to start it. Either that or you will be able to shift gears with the clutch pressed. If that doesn't get it let me know! I've got a few others that might work also. -
How much power would my motor make???
gorillaman2012 replied to 1973_240z_'s topic in Nissan L6 Forum
After tuning is done with a relatively small amount of aftermarket bolt on stuff unfortunately won't see a lot of extra ponies. Might notice a little change but mostly it will be in throttle response and in some cases members have seen a little bit better mpg. Still kind of a win and in the end after a while those extra bucks will help get better stuff like better flowing heads and other stuff that will really get you more power. Do your research and you'd be surprised what all info you will find here!- 16 replies

fuel pressure regulator suggestions.

Alright cool. I've kept seeing though most manufacturers for regulators say not to use with a mechanical pump. Worries? -

The carb has been rebuilt. Cleaned out and gone through once I got it. As for the turbo it is a draw through and pretty basic. I was told it's an old kit made by a company called cartech. Most of the info I've gotten on it is all over the place and hasn't been clear. All I know when looking at it it will work for some lower boost settings but has the ability to go more. The external wastegate for it I can recognize was built by turbonetics but the turbo itself the plate on it doesn't really tell me anything. I know the info isn't much and pretty scattered but it's where I'm at also. -
Looks like an old draw through setup. Intake manifold is funky but still pretty good.

fuel pressure regulator suggestions.

Hahah I do say that a lot. To be serious though the setup I bought from a member here and was told he ran a 390cfm holley 4 barrel carb on it. Well I got it all put together and at the moment the fuel line is direct from the mechanical pump to the carb. Went to go and turn it over and the carb dumped fuel in like crazy from being over pressurized. Now I'm just trying to find a regulator so it doesn't to that but also uses the return line so the extra fuel has a place to go so I don't wear out the pump to soon. -

Well its not exactly a stock carb system. It's actually a holley 4 barrel turbo setup. What all pressure is stock with the return line and all? -
Alright yall looking for some advice on a good regulator for my z. Looking for one I can use the mechanical pump and use the bypass system so I have a return to the tank. Thanks!

Anyone recognize this draw through setup?
gorillaman2012 replied to gorillaman2012's topic in Turbo / Supercharger
Sorry zenki but I plan on holding on to this. I got lucky finding it and for $300 I'm keeping it at least until I can find out what all its capable of as it sits. If I'm not a fan of it I'll let you know. -
Well looking at transmissions and may have found a good tko 500 to work and I heard they were close to an old t5 like what the datsun's with turbo motors have. I've found adapter plates but they are said to work for novas and camaro's and the like. Anyone got any insight on if I can get a tko trans to work with a datsun l series motor? Thanks all!

For your ignition I'd recommend going to 123ignitionusa.com. You can get a distributor through them that you can program the timing curve and everything. From 5 psi and under as long as your running high octane fuel you won't really have to worry about timing hurting you. If you start hearing any spark knock then retard your stock timing system about a degree and run that. But 6 to 8 psi your going to need something to retard it. You can use msd box with a boost retard and I think it retards off of vacuum pressure but by the time I looked at everything I was going to need through them I liked having the programable distributor that cost the same if not less than the msd setup. Just my $.02

That definitely helps with figuring out the potential! Thanks! Wouldn't happen to have any pictures or build threads on your friends setup would you? -

Bought this kit off another member mainly for the cool factor but I tried doing a little bit of background research and couldn't find a whole lot. Just seeing if anyone recognizes this setup or if it's just a one off and I'm lucky to have it. Thanks all!
