Hey guys, Just curious about any other hybridZ owners in austin. I've been to the local Z car meet once but to be honest (not trying to hurt feelings) it's a bunch of pleated khaki wearing polo shirt wearing old guys that tell me putting a LS in my car is wrong... And that my seats are ugly... (granted the seats in my car are not for everyone but I'm not going around telling other people their car looks like shit) So not my crowd.... Obviously. I'll be at Cars in Coffee this Sunday and if there are any other Austin Area Hybridz's around I hope to meet you then.

Nice Set up. Turbo isn't very cheap to get going but I think it pays for itself after enough bottle fills. It's just so much easier to slap the bottle on it than it is to "slap" the turbo on.. I personally have a bunch of LS car buddies and they are all nitrous babies. So I'm more likely to go that route than the turbo. Your right more passes at the track = More Data to go off of. I've only made one sp I think you're onto something here. My fuel pump is currently mounted in front of the stock 280z gas tank in the stock location where the little shield is ..

I suppose you haven't made it back out to the track since the turbo build ? We need to hit the track next time I'm in town. If I remember correctly the last time I saw Dom he said you stay in South Fort Worth . That wouldn't be too far from K-dale to make it out there on a sunday for some 1/8th mile runs . What do you think !?

Keep in mind the car has a T56 and a 195/60/15 sumitomo tire. one of which is bald in the back. I'm not too worried on about a 2.0 60' time my bone stock L series engine was enough to get the car down to a 1.7 60' with no traction issues ... Since Texas has more 1/8th mile tracks than anything it's hard to justify driving two or three times the distance to goto a 1/4 mile track. I'm very confident my car would run 11's as well. What does you set up consist of 5.3 with a cam ?

I understand a lot of you guys have had good luck with the stock fuel pump. My car is a LM4 5.3 liter with a decent cam and double springs. Stock fuel pump and fuel line running to the corvette C5 filter. But what do most of you run on your high hp ls cars ? It wasn't the best night for drag racing. Even tho the weather couldn't have been better the track was a shit show. A noob directing the lanes with a Ego just letting the bikes and slick cars run and run and run and run. Also plenty of new 5.0 mustangs spinning and knocking over cones... Oh and a Camaro catching on fire at the 60' and doing his whole pass without lifting... So I made my one pass and got in the car to drive 250 miles back to Austin at 10pm... to get to work at 8am ... pretty rough.. But not as rough as my pass. Not to make excuses but there is some type of fuel issue with the car at the moment it pulls very hard low and mid range but falls on it's face fast on the big end. I think my fuel pump just can't hang with the high rpm fuel demands but it's just a theory. First time the car's been down the track at all and obviously it was a spin fest with my 195-60-15 Sumitomos ... 60' - 2.0 1/8 - 8.90 MPH 80

Whats up buddy ! Figured I'd see your car over here it's "datassun" btw from Instagram. I was in town and ment to give you a holler last weekend but I was busy working on the Z.. Time for a new fuel pump and exhaust.

Been holding out on you guys :-)

Sorry to hear that. Did you figure out what let go in the bottom end ? Also a LSX block is 2500 bucks give or take another 500 in machine work and you won't have weak block problems anymore.. Not that a aftermarket rotating assembly is very affordable. -
It held fine for 2 months and no I didn't stomp on it all the way through the gears for 2 months. Maybe once or twice a little 2 gear romp but no 4 gear test passes. Not because I was worried about the car but it's hands down by a very long margin the fastest thing I've ever owned or driven. Not to say I haven't been stupid fast in a lot of cars but it's in how the power comes on that I wasn't ready for... just keep in mind 195/60/15 sumitomo tires 5.3 big cam and T56 ... Most of the v8 Z car guys on this website have much beefier tires .. if not flares.

This sounds about right. My car has lots of low end and decent mid range power but falls on it's face on the big end .. The bigger issue I have when I think about it is that my cam is suppose to make big power from the mid range on up. My guess just like everyone elses now is the fuel pump not being able to keep up. At the same time Domz uses a stock 280z fuel pump and has no issues however, it's his weekend toy and isn't used daily nor does it have a cam in it.. So I think that's why his results are so much better than mine.

Thanks Boys. Got it figured out this weekend. No more jumping car! However, anytime you fix something without knowing how you fixed is isn't really success.. Anyhow , looks like my stock datsun fuel pump is enough for the occasional romp around town or normal daily driving but when the hammer is down it just doesn't keep up... I did manage to drive the car 250+ miles from Austin to DFW then drive around all weekend with buddies and the gf before going to the drag strip last night running a pathetic 8.9 at 80mph.. and driving it another 250+ Miles back home ohh and then to the office today. Thanks guys I appreciate all ya'lls help. Hybridz is unlike a majority of forums in the sense that everyone is passionate about these types of cars and there's minimal keyboard kings. Much appreciated !

Car dies wont start ! little help here please
datASSun replied to datASSun's topic in Gen III & IV Chevy V8Z Tech Board
I suppose we both have the Johns Cars swap kit. That is the only problem I had with the kit. The alternator positive terminal we arching to the driver side motor mount. I fixed the issue with a grinder last weekend and it's no longer making contact. I'm going to be checking spark plug wires , and vacuum leaks tonight. If I get home at a decent hour I'll track all my grounds and power wires to see if theres any place it could be making contact. -

Alright so it's not the fuel filter. I've now traced my problem to some type of wire issue. As I have a hard time believing the filter would just clog itself enough to stop the car from running and theres solid pressure coming out of the fuel rails. Yesterday I was spinning my wheels trying to figure out what was wrong and I started to trace my wiring harness from the PCM inside the car outward. What really really sucks is this fixed my problem car starts right up now and drives fine but when I put the pedal to the medal it takes off and then jumps at high RPMs. I think it may be a grounding issue.. Sound about right boys ? -

So for awhile I thought my speed sensor was going bad on my transmission because the car would fall back down to idle as I drove down the road when in neutral however we both know LS motors that are EFI are not supposed to do that. Now when the car did start it was getting more and more temperamental running very rich. My first thought is that my o2 sensors are bad but that wouldn't be the reason the car wont fire. I've checked my fuel and it has pressure my fuel pump is also coming on so fuel is most likely out of the question unless the PCM isn't telling the injectors to send fuel but I can't figure out why it would be doing that. I just checked all my fuses and they all seem to be fine. -
hey guys so things have escalated in recent hours. I went from driving to work fine to stuck at a stop sign with a car that wont start. These are the simptoms my car is showing or was until today at lunch. Surging power.. a Slight Bogging and when I stomp on the gas it would surge hard then (Im not sure whats happening so its hard to describe) a very violent jump. Like the motor dies for a split second and roars back to life all in that one second. Again it's very violent and I thought it was from my alternators positive terminal making contact with my motor mount and grounding out but I fixed that the other day and it's giving me the same problems Also when the car is driving fine I at time will come to a stop sign and the car will just die.. with the car in neutral ! Please Please any help would be nice...

I spoke to Dom yesterday via txt and he said the same thing. I've now started to suspect my o2 sensors are bad because the car is running SOOOO FAT. My tune was just a "get it to the shop" tune which I've just been "getting it everywhere" with so I know it was set up to be on the rich side just for safety purposes. I suspect that the additional fuel made it foul the o2 sensors which is just making it run even more rich.. so when I floor it the car either surges with power or jumps (the jumping is what I mistook for fuel cut)

Hey guys, Another day another dollar another hour another datsun problem So when I stomp on the gas my car revs for a split second and then the whole car jumps as if it's hitting a rev limited .. Just like those supra's making 10000000000hp with stock fuel pumps just hitting fuel cut left and right. I'm using the stock 280z fuel pump and I understand that may sound crazy. I figured that the 280z was fuel injected so it might just work.... I'll be damned the thing worked great for 2 months hahahhaa SOOOOO What Fuel Pump do I buy now ? Keep in mind this must be a inline fuel pump as I still have the stock 280z tank.

Hey guys . I understand Cheap and Hybridz parts don't always go hand in hand but I hate to have to spend 700 bucks in this or that to turn around and spend over 1000 in wheels and another 500 in tires. At that point I could just get a custom set made. So I'm looking for a way to convert my car from 4x114.3 to 5x114.3 Any help would be great. I tried searching but all the links are no longer working. attached is a older pic of my Z before the swap but these are the same wheels and tires I have at the moment.

I'd love to place a order for multiple parts but am VERY hesitant after hearing the 3 month wait time to receive parts. What is the current wait time on the Duck Bill Spoiler and Tail light bezels for a 280z ?

Anyone Daily Driver a V8 Z car ?
datASSun replied to datASSun's topic in Gen III & IV Chevy V8Z Tech Board
Well the next time I make it out I'll come up and introduce myself in person.. If my car wasn't a standard I could slap the bottle on it and come play at slow car cash days but with the 6 speed and IRS I don't stand a chance.
